Big mistake from Rodgers, easily could have picked up the 1st down and slid.

Just looked it up - Lynch ran for 3.47 YPC his first season in Seattle. He wasn't good until 2011

He wasn't good until 2011?

You're sticking with that? Honest question.

Considering the amount of mental mistakes GB has made during that half, they are extremely lucky to be right in this game.

GB defense looks crappy.

Other than a nice outside pass rush, they don't have much on D.  I don't understand all of the Super Bowl love for them.  I mean, their offense will improve from last year with a full season of Rodgers, but how much better will their D be?  They only added Clinton-Dix and Peppers.  And they gave up 26.8 per game last year.  Can they really knock that down 3 or 4 points?

Matthews was playing hurt all year. No guarantee he will be healthy this year, but that's a big thing kinda.

I don't know.  I think Green Bay looks ok.  A terrible penalty led to the opening field goal.  They've dropped two easy interceptions.  If Peppers keeps this up and Clay Matthews rebounds from what was a pretty poor year last year for him, I think they can be really, really effective.  They play in a division with pretty damn good offenses, so their stats are going to be a bit misleading.  All four teams in the NFC north scored at least 391 points last year, with Minnesota at the bottom.  To put that in context, Indianapolis scored 391 points last year (how many people would have known that the Vikings and Colts scored the same amount of points last year), and they were the only team in their division to score more than 362.

If Dix turns out to be a player, which based on tonight is very questionable, IMO, then I think they can be really good, especially with Rodgers and Cobb healthy.  That offense is going to win them a lot of games by themselves, so as long as the defense can keep opponents to around 21/game, I don't see any reason they can't win 10+ games.  I actually thought Seattle was going to come out and blow them out of the stadium, so they have surprised me tonight.

Lynch has really turned it around since coming to Seattle. During his tenure in Buffalo he faced disciplinary charges and was significantly outplayed by Fred Jackson. He has hampered by an ankle injury in 2010, and at the time, Buffalo felt like they were better off going with Jackson. He showed some promise his first two years, but by 2010 it was conceivable that he was just another RB that had a couple decent seasons and fell off.

That's not the same as saying he wasn't good until 2011. Part of the reason his statistics weren't what they are now are  in Seattle was because of the crowded Buffalo backfield.

Partly true. But if my math is right he averaged 4.02 YPC in Buffalo on 687 attempts. He then averaged 3.47 YPC in his first year in Seattle before the beastquake. The last 3 years he has been very good.

RBs who run for 4 YPC are a dime a dozen and with Lynch close to his second contract at the time of the trade, why would he be worth more than a 4th? IMO Ridley has shown more in NE than Lynch did in Buffalo - do you think that Ridley would get back any better than a 4th??

Edit: Ridley has averaged 4.46 YPC in NE - splitting carries just like Lynch did in Buffalo

I never argued his worth via NFL trade, mostly because doing such for any one player is a fools errand. You said he wasn't good until 2011. I disagreed for several different reasons.

You're wrong, move on.

Seems like Seattle has 1-2 guys almost at the point of the handoff on every running play.  The initial burst off the line is really impressive.  That might be a function of Rodgers not able to change up or use the snap count due to the noise level in the stadium.

Brutally hard throw, but that's the second time Rodgers has come up short on basically the same pass across his body on the run.

That's a throw a 7 year old in pee wee football is taught not to make. Terrible decision.

I know Seattle has a great defense, but GB's offense looks to be underperforming by a lot tonight.

Yeah but Avril timed the play clock just right and got off the line pretty damn fast.

Ballsy throw across his Brady and the field - or stupid and reckless? A little of both?

Edit: just to say I'm not editing that "across his Brady" thing.

The Hans And Franz skit was funny in the context of Arnold and East German doping weight lifters.

It makes no sense in this day and age.

The funny thing was that my stream froze right while the ball was in the air, and the way it froze made it seem like Rodgers had two receivers wide open downfield, and I expected to hear about a touchdown. Little did I know, Rodgers had chucked the ball past his two open receivers into double coverage.

Yeah, if I were to level any criticism against GB tonight it would be their offenses execution. What their supposed strength should be has been generally brutal. Whether that's a function of where they're playing, Seattle's defense or rust is anyone's guess.
