Ohtani now 1-for-7 after hitting into a DP. Why he was still in the game is anyone's guess

Moving the Line
There's been one total game that ended 25-1 besides tonight: Brooklyn Grays over Baltimore Orioles, 1886.

It came 137 years ago to this day. June 24.

So much for the MFY killer Eovaldi. Brutal.
His line looks fine so far? Given this post I was expecting a massacre. Gave up a couple runs in the second, that's it.

Topping out at 95 is pretty un-Eo-like though.

Looks like he is almost exclusively using his cutter today (at least the second time through the order), as his fastball is sitting in the high 93's. This is the second start in a row it has been way down.

Eury Pérez another 6 shutout innings with 9ks. Now 1 run in his last 31 innings, though the Marlins look like they’re going to start load management.

Mets go into the 8th up 6-3 on the Phillies, a must-win game like most of the Mets games now, but without their best relievers. The PHI bottom of 8th so far:

Harper BB
Realmuto 1B
Stott BB
Bohm reaches on E6 (6-4 Mets)
Marsh BB (6-5 Mets)
Clermens K
Schwarber HBP (6-6 Mets)
Turner HBP (7-6 Phillies)

4 runs on 1 hit, still bases loaded with one out.

Does anyone at ESPN know that Diamondbacks are snakes not anything related to the jewelry industry?

Much weaker lineup for Hou when they don’t have Altuve or Yordan

edit: just like that, Jeremy Pena shuts me up

Rays salvage a split with KC. Pretty pedestrian last couple of weeks, especially against OAK and KC. Would be really nice to add even a moderately respectable starter.

54-27 at the halfway mark.

Freddie Freeman gets his 2000th hit, a double that plates Betts, who was HBP. Off Montero.

What’s the deal with Brujan? Do you think he still has a shot to be anything?

Dubon with an excellent play to at least momentarily keep the lead in the 11th for the Astros

I thought at the time that pinch-running for JDM in a tie game in the 8th was a bad move, there were already two outs. The pinch-runner even stole second but was stranded and JDM would have been up in the 10th with one out and a man on 3rd instead of Vargas.

He’s looking like a bust. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him get moved at the deadline as a throw in. Rays don’t really need him and there are other prospects that will be pushing their way up soon, so he’s running out of time.

Drew Smith (mediocre Mets reliever) came back from his sticky stuff suspension tonight and blew the game, giving up a 2 run HR in a 2-1 loss.

The Mets are now 9 back in the loss column from the 3rd wild card with 84 left to play, it’s getting late early for them.

After being a season high 20 games over .500 on June 6, the Rangers have gone 7-11. Still a comfortable 5 game lead over Houston, but the Rangers have real bullpen issues.

Baseball karma coming for both Manoah and Josh Donaldson this year, couldn't happen to two nicer guys.

5 of the first 10 ATL batters tonight homered against Joe Ryan.
