This is a huge win for the Cubs. I have to wonder about Hendricks' health.

I'm still confused why Roberts wanted to take out Chapman so much. Tie game and Chapman already pitched an inning and another game in less than 24 hours.

Just get the #8 hitter out. Or Heyward.

Lester pitched well
Great defense by Cubs
Great "BABIP defense" by Cubs
Chapman made an appearance.
Turner and Seager didn't havemuch influence.
Kershaw and Jansen stayed away

Can only get better for Dodgers.

Pop quiz: Montero was the third postseason pinch-hit grand slam. Who were the other two? Hint: One should be burned into our memories around here.

That is one bizarre post game team for Fox. I know they have stressed personality over quality but Pete Rose? I'm ready to watch The Big Hurt just start strangling him on TV while A Rod trying to restrain him.

Trying to decide if ARod would try to restrain him. Not sure.

You know what? I shouldn't be short changing Thomas, I believe he could press slam Rose into the crowd outside Wrigley and absolutely nobody could do/want to do anything to stop him.

I fucking love Dave Roberts. Astounding what he's done with the Dodgers as a first year manager. Most pitching changes in one season ever and more innings from his pen than his starters this year. Myriad injuries to their rotation and he was 14 games over .500 without Kershaw for 2 months. No one gave them a chance when Kershaw went down. I'll be shocked if he doesn't win Manager of the Year.

Game 5 in Washington was epic, he's taking cues from Tito/Miller it seems. As for today he trusted Blanton, he's been reliable, but he made a dumb mistake and grooved an 0-2 meatball. Dodgers are no joke, this series is going 6 or 7.

The flip side is he won an awful division (the Giants were horrendous after the break, 30-45) and they had the highest payroll in MLB again, which was spent largely on depth that allowed them to withstand those injuries.

Yeah, after watching the first games of the LCS, I'd feel pretty confident in betting that the NL champ takes the WS. The pitching is crisper (and the rotations far deeper), the defense looks tighter, and unless TOR digs itself out of this hole, they're at an offense disadvantage too.

This is kinda 2007 in reverse; the two best teams in baseball are clearly (to me) playing each other in the NLCS.

The Dodgers are clearly better than Cleveland and Toronto? I think they're both clearly better than LA and either would give the Cubs a real battle.

Yeah, the Red Sox were the second best team in baseball in the regular season (sorry), and I don't think the Dodgers were even third or fourth. They were lucky to face Washington without Strasburg or their regular catcher (Ramos), and while I know the Dodgers had tons of injuries too, those late-season ones (like Carrasco/Salazar for CLE) seem different to me. The 538 rankings still have them pretty easily the worst of the four teams remaining, FWIW:
