Guess the PED's couldn't save him.
Just crazy. I mean we all saw this coming to someone extent, but the actuals are off the charts.Just 2.6 total bWAR for the final seven years of his 10/240 deal. My favorite Yankee for a few years early on, but glad that he went to SEA, even the 7/175 NY offered him would have turned out pretty ugly.
The incessant "Did you know he was named after Jackie Robinson?" of Jon Miller and Joe Morgan seems like a lifetime agoYou know what makes me feel old— arguing who was the better 2nd baseman— Pedey or Cano (Pedey of course )
4 2/3 IP with 4 hits, 3 walks, and 4 SOs. Not too bad for his first start - that rotation is going to be dangerous if he gets back to 2020 form.Tonight Mike Clevinger makes his first appearance since the end of the 2020 season and his first appearance in Cleveland since he was traded to San Diego in 2020. It would have been great if he matched up against Cal Quantrill, who was part of the return package, but it will be his former teammate Zach Plesac. Of all the veterans Cleveland has traded the past few years, I wouldn't have guessed that Clevinger would be the one that went the furthest in rebuilding the team (aside from Quantrill, the Guardians will probably have 3 guys in the starting lineup tonight from that deal).
Someone needs to throw some Celine Dion over that clip. The ump absolutely was baiting him into a confrontation.

I really don't understand how the union is so powerful that these guys suffer absolutely zero consequences for their behavior (let alone for simply sucking at their jobs). What a complete asshole umpire. These guys need consequences for their actions. That's completely unacceptable.
7,356Pavin Smith just hit a 2 run homer to give the DBacks the lead in the top of the 9th in front of an Oakland-sized crowd in Miami.
He was kind of effectively wild with less than 57% of pitches going for strikes, but that's certainly understandable for the first start back by a guy who has also never been known for pinpoint control. I was a little surprised he threw 95 pitches, but I wasn't able to watch or listen, so I don't know what the expectations really were.4 2/3 IP with 4 hits, 3 walks, and 4 SOs. They're on pace to be outscored by 553 runs. They are on pace to win 20 games. 20!
Crazy stat line.Once again the Reds score right away… and can't even hold the lead for a single inning. Down 8-3 in the 3rd and Hunter Greene's ERA is approaching 9.00 (but still better than Gutierrez and Sanmartin).
I think there is punishment, but it's not public. It should be. The closest we got was Angel losing his court case when MLB's official defense was just "This guy is terrible at his job." And he's still employed. If that wasn't enough to break the union or at least really lean on it, I'm not sure anything short of an ump curb-stomping a player on the field will do.I really don't understand how the union is so powerful that these guys suffer absolutely zero consequences for their behavior (let alone for simply sucking at their jobs).
Not supposed to rain in Boston. Unfortunately.Feels like every game east of the Mississippi is going to be rained out today and maybe tomorrow too.
Oof BOS has two losses on the top 10 from this year as well.Mets comeback is ranked in the top 60 biggest comebacks by BR win probability metric. Full list here. 1961 Red Sox had the 3rd biggest comeback ever.
