Bradley Blalock got the start for Greenville & pitched 5.1 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits & a walk with 4 strikeouts.

He has a 3.24 ERA since being promoted to Greenville in 19.2 innings after a 1.50 ERA in 18 innings at Salem.

Don't know what TiltValue is, but Yordanny boy is 18% greater than #2, and from him to #4 is more than #4 to the end of the screenshot list. I'll bet it's lonely living out on the Gaussian tail.
I hope TiltValue doesn’t have anything to do with trading for Brasier!

RIP the streak. On the positive side...6 straight scoreless innings!

The DSL Dodgers are 25-6. Probably a hard team to no-hit.

Wandy didn't actually start for the FCL Sox - my #128 prospect Elvis Soto did (Wandy is #129 so a clear upgrade).

Soto is 19 & from Bani, DR. He signed for $10k in June '22.

Last year in the DSL he had a 3.42 ERA, 1.01 WHIP & 11.8 K/9 in 23.2 innings.

Coming into this game, this season in the FCL in 6 games, 4 starts, he had a 3.98 ERA, 1.33 WHIP & 8 K/9 in 20.1 innings.

Batista pitched 4 scoreless innings, 3 hits, 0 walks, 1 strikeout.

That's 8 straight scoreless innings.

After ELVIS a wild Yizreel Burnet appeared.

I say wild because I was unfamiliar with his work. He was originally signed out of Willemstad, Curacao in January '21 for $125k.

He was shut down after 17 innings due to injury in '21 & after a late start to '22 was shut down again after only 7 innings.

He pitched for the 1st time this season today, & his 1st time in FCL, and had a 1-2-3 inning.

If you click through to this SoxProspects link, his arm looks incredibly long...

After Yizreel a wild Connor Butler appeared. I say that because he walks a lot of people (12 in 8.2 innings coming into today).

The '22 20th round pick was in full control today, though, pitching a 1-2-3 inning with 2 strikeouts.

DSL Blue lost 4-1 & only had 2 hits.

Biggest bright spot of the game was Jose Martinez. He pitched 3.1 scoreless innings, allowing 1 hit & 1 walk while striking out 6 & lowering his ERA to 1.69 in 19.1 innings this season.

Martinez is clearly looking to move on up from his position as my 146th best Red Sox prospect. The 18 y/o from Bayomo, Cuba was acquired for free as an IFA on June 16th.

Batista pitched 4 scoreless innings, 3 hits, 0 walks, 1 strikeout.

That's 8 straight scoreless innings.
Geiser Figueroa added 3 scoreless (& hitless) innings to that, with 2 walks & 2 strikeouts, & lowering his ERA to 4.90 in 22 innings.

Here is my previous post on Geiser for those few who may not recall...

DSL Blue - Geiser turned 17 in March. He was signed as an IFA, also from Santa Domingo, also in January '23, for $55k. He's listed at 6'4 170. He has a 4.09 ERA in his 1st 11 innings.
He was a notable omission from my last rankings.

DSL Red took a 1-0 lead into the 8th against the unassailable DSL Dodgers... but then proceeded to allow 4 runs in both the 8th & 9th, with only 1 run in each of those innings being earned, & lost 8-1.

Nixson Cueche (#137) had 2 of their 5 hits, including their only double.

The FCL Red Sox won 7-1.

JOHANFRAN (#16) went 3-4 with a double & 2 steals (3 on the season).

YUTEN (#61) went 3-5 with a double.

Armando Sierra (#126) went 3-4

Sea Dogs lost 7-3 despite a 3-run Matthew Lugo homer in the 8th (he went 2-4).

Sterling Sharp was neither of those things... allowing 7 runs in 3 innings.

Robert Kwiatkowski pitched 3 scoreless innings of relief, lowering his ERA to 4.61.

John Schreiber pitched a 1-2-3 inning with 2 strikeouts.

BLAZE was 2-4.

Hickey was 2-4 with a double.

MARCELO was 1-3 with a walk. I feel like he's going to need a nickname. Not much of a ring to that, even in caps.

Do I know who this guy is, remotely agree with his list or know what his credentials are?

No I do not.

Am I going to post his top 100 pitching prospects & make note of where the Red Dox are on the list anyway?

Of course.

View: https://twitter.com/jaywillyff/status/1682093664305029127

#11 Isaac Coffey
#20 Dalton Rogers
#28 Wikelman Gonzalez
#35 Yordanny Monegro
#67 Hunter Dobbins
#79 Bradley Blalock
#100 Angel Bastardo

The good: 7 out of 100 is pretty impressive.
The bad: I do not trust any list which does not include PERALES.

The game day threads are great - thanks again JM3 - but we've forgotten the main minor league thread a bit. I think it's worth a C note post because he's now reached the 100 AB mark in AAA, a pretty good place to reassess him, and he's playing better than ever: OPS almost 1.0, BA well over .300, good power and, of course, defense and speed. And he's still a bit young for AAA (almost 23 now). I think a Mookie-lite starter in the bigs is still on the table, and more possible than ever now

I hope so but his K and walk %’s leave a lot to be desired. Not confident his approach at the plate will ever make him Mookie-ish at the plate. It’s a massive hole in his otherwise stellar game.

Stephen Scott through 100 PA in AAA

68322

Look at those BB/K numbers!

What's most impressive to me about his transition to AAA is (1) the drop in K% (2) the rise in batting average despite the drop in BABIP. I don't know if he's made a real adjustment or if there's some noise here, but the guy is raking right now. I'm not sure where he could possibly fit in - he's probably not a good enough catcher to stick there, and McGuire is blocking him anyway, and we've already got a lefty-first baseman who's mashing.... I wonder if there's any consideration toward moving him to the outfield. He hasn't played there since 2021.

Something to watch, regardless. He, Hernandez, Dalbec, and Rafaela are all coming on pretty hard, and all of them are blocked by Duran, Verdugo, McGuire and Casas, so it's easy to imagine that one of them might be a part of a deal for something good today...

Every now and then a prospect comes along who just has it. I can’t believe I’m going to argue for this, but I think Roman Anthony should be promoted again. I know, I know. Only 110 or so AB in high-A, where he’s apparently the youngest player by six months. But he’s destroying the league. .304/.443/.679 with 10 dongs. Apparently all the underlying metrics are outstanding. Strap a rocket to this kid.

As a Greenville SC resident who is looking forward to watching him in the playoffs, I respectfully request that you go to hell. ;-)

Seriously, though, I don’t see the rush to jump him again at age 19, and I think there’s value in letting him experience some playoff baseball at a level where’s he’s clearly comfortable and enjoying success.

I get all that, but I also agree with Mo (fellow Norwalk CT native) that this guy seems different and we need to find out how he continues to handle higher levels. I believe Portland is slated for the postseason also. I mean, a cup of coffee in Portland over the last month, a half year there to start ‘24 before moving to Worcester. Dude could, and I do mean could, be our starting RF in 2025. He could also struggle in Portland which would be fine because he’s only 20.

I definitely see the potential problems with yet another promotion so soon. It would violate the very sensible standard operating procedure of successful prospect development. But like Merkle said, you just get the feeling that this kid could be killing it in the majors by the season after next. FWIW, I don’t expect the Sox to actually follow this path.

That's a lot of dongs.

But they may be waiting to see if he can bring down his k rate, ~28% is a bit high considering he was at ~19% in low A. It could be a whole approach thing. Or maybe not and pitchers are just desperate to stay away from him so they just throw junk and he does enough damage that he just keeps swinging at border line stuff and still walks 20% of the time. Hard to know without watching the at-bats or looking at advanced stats we probably don't have.
