So the Oilers have given up 5+ goals in 3/4 games so far. They gave up 7 to Phoe-- Arizona last night.

This team might require it's own thread for how tremendously bad they are

If they get the #1 draft pick I'm gonna laugh.

Pascal Dupuis was taken off on a stretcher after falling to the ice THEN getting hit in the back of the neck with a shot.  He got up, then collapsed, so not a paralysis issue, but it probably hurt, a lot.

Nothing wrong with that hit. Grabo should keep his head up.

Yup, nothing wrong with the play. Just sad that John Scott is still in the league taking runs at skill players.

Grabo has to be one of the toughest guys in the league, especially for his size. He's constantly getting destroyed because he seemingly gives 0 fucks that he is ever going to get hit.

And the Islanders say he doesn't have a concussion...

For fucks sake that's not a run.

Edit: I'm no Scott fan but not every check of his is dirty. Sometimes guts get blown up legally. This appears to be one of those times considering Scott was actually tracking his man and train tracked into Grabovski.

Dupuis is practicing today.  Basically, was diagnosed as a stinger so bad he started to go numb in his extremeties.

Wideman has a goal and an assist and is +3 for the Flames tonight. Why can't we get guys like that?

Johnny Gaudreau has a goal and an assist in that game as well.

I like the makeup of the Calgary team. They're young and not overly skilled but seem to play hard and give it an honest effort each night. Unfortunately, they'll probably grind out a few too many wins to be truly in McDavid/Eichel sweepstakes, but I wouldn't mind the Flames win the lottery this year.

Lead DeBlower at it again. Devils blow 3-1 lead at home and lose in OT to the fucking garbage Rangers.

Astounding how a GM so quick to fire coaches has let this absolute scrub fraud coast on a fluke Finals BERTH, not even a win, and keep his job with absolutely ZERO to show for it.

Dandy of a no-goal by Datsyuk, it got waived off due to goalie interference. Wings trying to hang on to a 1-0 lead late in the 3rd.

Edit: Habs just tied it. Because of course they did. Pacioretty was in the box for a dive, too.

Holy shit, if the B's got called for that goaltender interference, I might have thrown something through the TV.  Scabs indeed.

So goalie interference occurs when the goalie initiates contact outside the crease. Wasn't there some montage in the playoffs that basically showed Price initiating a ton of these calls/penalties? Typical Montreal.

Pens/Flyers tonight. Always a good time, and the Pens "new" 3rd jersey's are tremendous.

If you'll now excuse me, I have to go vomit after giving that joke of an organization any kind of compliment.

And they didn't have to hire anyone to develop a new scheme for a sweater. Just open a few boxes from storage. Too bad the Flyers couldn't play the Pens in Pittsburgh for all 82 games. Couturier turns into Mike Modano and Sid/Malkin turn into pumpkins. Can't figure it out.

McDavid v. Eichel is going to be crazy fun to follow this year. McDavid played last night for Erie agains Niagara in Buffalo and posted a goal and 3 assists. McDavid has got 29 points in his 10 games. It is early, but for reference, John Tavares was 1.8 PPG in his draft year, Stamkos 1.72. Crosby averaged 2.7 points per game in the Q. McDavid is crazy good.

Eichel is off to just as hot start at BU. 4 points in BU's only official game, but he also had 5 points in an exhibition game against St. Thomas and 3 points in an exhibition game against the USNDT. Might be worth a trip down Comm Ave this year to check him out, easily the best prospect to play in Hockey East in a long time, might as well check him out before he leaves for the NHL after the year. BC has defenseman Noah Hanifin who is projected as a top pick behind McDavid and Eichel this year as well. Good year for Hockey East.

Between here and everywhere.
It's really going suck watching McDavid and Eichel wasting away in Edmonton and Carolina for the next 5-6 years.

Really too bad an 0-6 team isn't having a down season to see one of those two in a successful hockey market. Maybe Winnipeg will get lucky.

Craig Adams dangling and scoring should result in relegation.
Every single person involved with this team deserves to be fired.

Horrible roster full of old no talent players with contracts impossible to get rid of, nothing coming out of the farm system and a coach so far over his head its a wonder he hasn't already drowned.

Its mindboggling to think that A. Ryan Lambert tried to pretend this team was good in his Puck Daddy season preview, going so far as to put them in the same echelon as the Bruins and Sharks and B. that theres actually at least 3 teams in the NHL worse than this travesty in the Canes, Sabres and Oil

Yup.  "Horrible roster of old no-talent players with contracts impossible to get rid of" pretty much sums up the Devils' situation.  Lou Lamoriello has been coasting on what he did over a decade ago.  He's been one of the league's worst GMs over the past 5-7 years.  If I were the new owner of this team, I'd replace the entire management team with a bunch of young up and comers and tell them to do absolutely whatever they need to do to get better and younger fast and that if any of Bryce Salvador, Patrick Elias and Michael Ryder are still part of this team by the trade deadline, they're all fired.

In game after game, it's apparent that the opposing team is bigger, faster and much more talented.  But you have to also call the coaching into question when players like Sydney Crosby are allowed to sit on the doorstep of the crease without a player anywhere near him.  And TWO too many men on the ice penalties in this game.

This is where you lost me.  I don't usually hate sportswriters because I have a life.  But Ryan Lambert just reminds me of some contrarian hipster doofus that wants to sounds smarter than the rest of the room and just in general sucks.

Apparently his old gf was stolen away by another poster on a college hockey message board tryst as well.  Which I just find comical.

The mucky muck
One of the worst calls you'll see happened a couple of minutes ago in the Caps/Wings game. Holtby came out to play the puck and tripped over himself getting back into the crease. Not a Wing within 10 feet of him and Luke Glendening gets call for interference as the Wings score with Holtby out of position. Goal waved off, Caps powerplay.

Jason Chimera just tried to hit Brendan Smith and got the worst of it. Nose injury, almost as gruesome as Krug's finger

Here's the goalie interference call on Glendening last night that negated a goal.

Whichever ref made that call should be fired. Bad/missed calls happen, nobody's perfect, but officials making shit up and calling what they think happened vs. what they actually saw is inexcusable. Those are the calls that incentivize diving/flopping.

I'm generally opposed to expanding replay, but I feel like adding replay on goalie interference calls is an area they need to take a long, hard look at.

Pierre seriously asked Henrique if this team was similar to the one that went to the SCF

Henrique is a true pro for not laughing in his face
