The only thing I don’t love about Diaz here is that I think he actually gets amped up with the 9th inning crowd and gains a couple mph

but in isolation yeah, get through these innings and hope you can score a couple and he doesn’t need to go 3 or even 2

How many Orsillos for Edwin Diaz?

And does Showalter take him out if the lead grows?

I’d get Diaz out at this point

I liked bringing him in, but if the rest of the pen can’t handle a 5 run lead it’s not your year

It’s just a little too quiet there

The Mets have lost a little of the swagger they had a month ago… need to get amped up a little here

The Padres still have to be feeling pretty good about their chances today. The Mets sent their two best pitchers to the hill already and went 1-1. They have all the pressure on them today, I think.

I actually think it's the other way around. In the spring it felt like this was supposed to be the coronation season for Preller and the Padres, while the Mets were probably an "upper middle" team (for lack of covfefe and ability to word this morning).

I really think the pressure is on the Padres in this one.

After Tatis's disastrous 2022 I'm not sure the Padres can be truly expected to make the LDS, honestly.

Bassitt makes sense for the Mets, but he really had a hard time against Padres this year (0-2 with 9 ER in 10.1 innings).

Carrasco was very effective (1-0 wit 2 ER in 12 innings).

Ultimately, the hook will be quicker than quick. May not matter a whole lot in the scheme of things who starts.

Carrasco isn’t on the roster, don’t think he’s healthy. Walker is probably the next choice.
