This isn't a sexy pick, but really there aren't a ton of those guys left. Even before Stedman Bailey was suspended for 4 games my wide receiver group was pretty thin. Tony G was a big part of my passing attack last year and with his retirement that's a tough hole to fill. Martellus Bennett should fill some of that hole but I need a little more help. What my offense lacks is a big wideout. Wallace, Amendola, and Bailey are all 6 foot or under.

The San Francisco 49ers select: WR, Andre Holmes

An undrafted free agent. Spent his first two years getting cut by three teams (including our own Patriots) and never saw an NFL field. Took some PEDs and got suspended. Since he didn't have to be on the Raiders 53 man roster he made it through camp and preseason and the Raiders liked what they saw. Didn't see the field until Week 6, didn't have a catch until Week 10. What the hell do we see in this kid?

He's big, 6'4" and he knows how to use it. Goes up high and is able to use his size to catch jump balls. Made some real highlight catches in his short time last year. He was also in the top 1/3 of the league in drop rate. In just 7 games he had 25 REC and 431 YDS. Extrapolated over a full season that's 60 REC and 985 YDS. If you took his nameplate off and watched his highlights he may be confused with a top wide receiver in this league.

We don't expect a ton out of him but would love if he takes his game to the next level.

Damn it. Nice pick DoDM. I've had Holmes on my short list for a couple of rounds now. He was great at the end of the year and he looks to be a significant part of the Raiders passing offense this year. I was really hoping he'd stay under the radar.

Thanks Eck. With only 7 games under his belt and his inability to stay on an NFL roster there is definitely some risk here. But as you said it seems like the Raiders found something in this kid (maybe it's just the PEDs), and he looks like he's a competent receiver in this league. At this point in the draft these are the types of players to take a chance on, especially since the WR pool (and especially especially the tall WR pool) is so thin.

With my 2nd pick of the round, going to take a flyer on a guy who I have often felt absolutely had the stuff to be a big time NFL receiver, but has been injury prone.

He's back and he's healthy- although he is now in a battle for PT.

WR Ryan Broyles

My team could use a massive, young nose tackle in the Wilfork mold who can draw blockers and let Jurrell Casey and Dee Ford get to the ball.

The Denver Broncos select..... Justin Ellis, DT

6'1", 334 pounds from Louisiana Tech, very good against the run.  Will be playing for a revamped Raiders defense and may be able to carve out a starting role if he can outplay Pat Sims and Antonio Smith.  Even in a situational role, I think Ellis can be very productive and have a nice, long career for himself.  And his nickname is Jelly, so he has that going for him.

And there goes another one. Honestly my last pick was between Desir and Ellis and I went with the corner. I think Ellis is going to be a good depth option this year with starting potential.

I have a feeling all of our boards are starting to look the same...

Write up to come, but Seoul Steelers slyly select:

WR Austin Pettis

Need to shore up depth at WR. Hoping for a breakout season, while concerned with (possible) reduced playing time.

DM PM'd.

Time to double down on late round QB gambles.  The Seattle Seahawks select A.J. McCarron, QB

Apologies for the shitty music.  I went through 3 videos and this was the best one.

The Necks select Marquess Wilson

Wilson was on track to be a top-10 WR and top-100 pick in the 2013 draft but got in a fight with his HC (Mike Leach) and subsequently almost fell out of the draft. He's 6'3", 207, 4.45, and is still very young - only 21. That would make him one of the youngest players in the 2014 draft. He took a year to develop, but reports out of Chicago say that he has impressed enough to take over the 3rd WR role and push Marshall to the slot. For the Necks he'll compete for the second outside WR job.

PM on it's way.

Jeremy Lane, CB from Seattle

You all probably know him as the guy from the Niners game where Harbaugh tried to trip him.
I know him as the new nickle CB for the LOB now that Browner has left for NE.

One of my CBs will probably end up at the FS position thanks to Ed Reed being Ed Reed.  I just dont know who yet but Lane could play FS if necessary

Can someone PM RO?

I considered Pettis when I took Broyles. Ultimately went with Broyles because I felt there was a higher risk/reward...but a solid pick.

With Lane gone, I'm going to turn back to the Draft to add to my secondary, and select Keith McGill, DB.

A former safety, the 6'3" 200+lb McGill transitioned to CB for his senior year, and was scouted for his ability to profile as a large physical corner in the NFL.  I've seen several comparisons made to Brandon Browner (including Mayock).   While realizing that kind of upside would be great, we're more interested in the versatility he can provide along with his physicality.  With standout safety TJ Ward facing legal troubles, we wanted to make sure we have another big bodied DB we can plug into the lineup if the need arises.

McGill is a bit of a gamble, with professionalism and work ethic issue frequently cited.  But at this point in the draft everyone has warts, and I'm happy to get a guy with as much upside as McGill does this deep in the draft.

You can't teach size.

Was (not Wasdin) PM'd. He has two picks since he didn't pick for last round yet.
Weren't we auto skipping people who has missed an earlier pick? Maybe that was last year? I don't remember.

Just kidding, any time.
So what's the skip on a skipper ruling? I'm not in favor of it this time around as we don't have that many rounds.

I thought so too. I sent Was another PM anyway just to make sure. He's been on today so he should know.

Guys, sorry, I am out of the loop for a bit.  Been sick, and I have a deal at work that won't finish.  Go ahead and skip me again, I'll jump back in hopefully this weekend.  Sorry to be a pain.

I thought we didn't end up double-skipping. It was more of an issue last year anyway with the snake draft, where one person could hold the draft hostage for 12 hours in one day (or 24 in a weekend) if they were picking towards the beginning or end. With straight draft order, it's not a concern.

Sorry for the delay.  The Jets need to fill a hole at RG and we fill it with OG Cyril Richardson of Baylor.  He is a tremendous prospect with elite size( 6'5" 329 lbs) who struggled this past season.  However, we feel that his drop in weight from over 350 to his combine weight of 329 will do wonders for him.  Going into last season, he was regarded as one of the best OL prospects in college and we hope he returns to that form.  If he does, we have quite a steal.  We hope the interior line of DeCastro, Konz, and Richardson can develop into one of the better interiors in the league.

OK gimme five. Having addressed all of our needs, it's really hard to find anyone that would improve the Raiders at this point. May just bring Tebow back for shits & giggles.

I guess we'll go with Khairi Fortt. He's a weenie, sure, but we like his coverage skills. Oh, and our other ILB may or may not have all of the ligaments necessary to play football. This guy is probably a longer term project though.

That's a decent pick. I think Fortt will be a solid player, especially on his RL team in Ryans defense. dylanmarsh will be pissed another ILB has come off the board.
