Looking to add to OL depth, the Ravens select C J.C. Tretter from the Packers.

Tretter was a fourth-round pick for Green Bay last year but broke his ankle in OTAs and essentially redshirted after his return from the PUP list. Still, the Pack thought enough of his progress to let Evan Dietrich-Smith go in free agency. Tretter played tight end and tackle at Cornell but at 6'3" 307 has ideal size for the inside. He's a good athlete with a rep for solid technique and, as you'd expect from an Ivy Leaguer, high intelligence. He's gotten pub this offseason for his work ethic - apparently he stayed in Wisconsin all offseason and was at the team facility almost every day, practicing snapping with his sister, and hitting the weights. He'll compete with Kory Lichtensteiger for the starting gig, and at 23 he's the future.

The Ravens OL now consists of six players who project to start for their real-life teams, and a seventh in Don Barclay who will end up starting whenever Bryan Bulaga gets hurt again. Tretter, Barclay, Alex Boone, Lichtensteiger, and Shelley Smith all have the flexibility to play multiple spots along the line. With those guys in the interior and the young tackle tandem of Anthonys Castonzo and Davis, the Ravens figure to have a line that can protect Kaepernick and open up holes in the running game.

EDIT: PM'd PBDWake
FAKE EDIT: Feel like I'm making a mistake not continuing the run on Khairis / Khyris

Damn that's a good pick. He has been one of the top players on my board for a while now. Considered him last year (twice) actually.

Texans will select Terrell McClain, DT Cowboys.

McClain has bounced around a lot in his 4 years in the NFL.  Mostly playing NT he's looking at moving to a DT in the Cowboys 4-3.  He's been impressive from all reports out of Cowboys OTAs and with Marinelli I think he has a chance to make an impact.

EDIT:
This puts MMS on the clock with his current pick.
SPDougie is on deck.
CaptainLaddie and Turrable both have picks to make.
Was (not Wasdin) has two picks to make.

I've sent PM's to all of them.

where the darn libs live
A veteran, and a nice pickup for our defensive line....

DT, Cullen Jenkins.

Is this a sexy pick?  No.  He's 33.  But he's had at least 4 sacks every season since 2009, and he hasn't shown signs of slowing down.  Maybe this is the year it happens, but we're betting it doesn't.

OK, I'll just grab Nate Irving, who projects to be the starting MLB for the Broncos right now.  He's young, played decently at SLB last year in limited time, and has a little upside and I need depth at this position.

Is MMS' clock up?

I got mixed up on who was on the clock. MMS was on the clock, but I'll send SPDougie a PM now to let him know he can pick.

Edit: I see MMS is here and just made a pick, did you PM Dougie?

Man, a lot of good discussion in this thread. What's weirdly lacking is discussion of how thoroughly the Raiders have fucking *crushed* this draft and are the odds on favorite to win it all next year.

Shouldn't this be in the post here if you've been drinking thread? What do you think about Stanford's program next year
See them beating the Ducks again?

Short write up

Pats select Patrick Omameh, OG Tampa Bay

Athletic, versatile o lineman. Starting guard for the Bucs, has the length and ability to play outside. More depth for my line which has been completely overhauled.

Okay, I'm back. I'm going to jump in and take Rashad Jennings HB/punt blocker, NYG

With David Wilson's career in question due to a neck injury, the G-men picked up Jennings and drafted the already taken Andre Williams from BC. Currently, Jennings is at the top of the depth chart and averaged 4.5 per carry with 6 TD's last year, while making 36 catches out of the backfield. At this point in the draft, we're happy to take a guy who should have plenty of tread left on the tires and the fact that he can block a punt doesn't hurt, either.

Looks like MM has been PM'd, so he's still on the clock.

The Bears select OLB Telvin Smith.

Adding another athlete to the LB corps - hoping he can provide depth and contribute on specials/third down.

EDIT - Mascho PM'ed, by the way.

The Sentinels select:

Jordan Tripp, LB, Montana

I'm happy because I was back and forth on him and Reid two rounds ago, and rolled the dice he'd come back to me.  Third generation player at Montana, after his father and grandfather.  Saw time at SLB/MLB and WLB while at Montana, where he was a two time first-team Big Sky selection and a two time All-American.  His ten fumble recoveries are a Montana school record.  Was a co-captain as a junior and a senior.  His athleticism stood out at the combine, with great shuttle and three cone numbers.

Miami used him at all three LB slots in their 4-3 during mini-camp, so he's a great depth selection for us.  We'll slot him in behind Ryans as an MLB for now, but he'll likely see time at all three spots.
PM off to soxfan121 now.

Spreadsheet updated through this pick.  I'm not creating a new column for your second FB since I imagine you'll be the only one going that deep.  :p

Do what you gotta do. I consider it my job to try and break the spreadsheet every season.

We're in the war room - working on it. Love SN's message "pick someone shitty". I almost busted out laughing at a meeting.

Rashean Mathis, DB.

We just talked to Rashean and he's very interested in playing for us to wind down his career. He wants to mentor Xavier Rhodes and help as a backup DB. He can play corner or free safety. He's a decent corner - the biggest knock on him is his age.
So why Mathis? Because now we have 4 starting caliber corners. Mathis is old and, unlike the Lions, we do not plan to match him up against anyone good. He's the perfect super-utility DB. Mathis is also 6'01'' like Xavier Rhodes which gives us now 3 DB's 6 feet tall or over (Cyprien is exactly six feet tall).

Our secondary is young but we're encouraged. Because we have 3 budding young players we felt like adding a skilled veteran like Mathis will do a lot for the kids now that some jackass stole our former FS.

PFF: +3.8 in coverage 2013. This is a guy whose numbers would be better as a depth player. We intend to make him one, for now.

Going to give Rag until 10:14 to get his pick in, in case SMU's edit was for the PM, then I'll send Tito a PM.

Also, just so I'm clear, we have 2 more rounds once this round is complete? is that correct?

Sorry for the delay guys... Lions select Ashlee Palmer - LB (Lions)... Probably for the better anyway with Allen, if you are that soft you can't play through a stroke, I don't want you on my team.

We need some depth at our interior OLine.

The San Francisco 49ers select: Brandon Linder, G

A rookie out of the University of Miami, and a 3rd round pick to Jacksonville. Right now he's projected as fighting for the starting RG spot and many beat writers think he'll win it. He's big, tough, intelligent, a leader, and played at both G and T in college. Love having flexibility on the line.

Dollar PM'd.

Really like the Linder pick DoDM. I was going back and forth between him and Omameh for my last pick. They both had similar workout numbers and measurables. Went with my gut and grabbed Omameh. I think Linder is extremely good value here though.
