The Chargers select:

Spencer Long, OG

Doubling down on OL with my last two picks, Long is the current favorite to start at RG for the Skins.  I've still got some holes but Mewhort at LG and Long at RG hopefully gives me a couple of road graders on my line for the next decade.

The Saints select OG Dakota Dozier

Dozier profiles as an OG in the NFL, and we ran a 4-man OL last season, so you could say he fits a need.  The OL options are getting very thin, so he may be a bit of a reach, but I didn't want to risk waiting any longer.  Coming from a small school (Furman) he's a raw prospect, but has great size and a good motor.

The Elcab Dolphins continue to add weapons to their offense, this time selecting HB Ka'Deem Carey from the real life Bears.

With Trent Richardson and Chris Ivory, I've got two power backs that can get me tough yards between the tackles running behind my OL, at least in theory.  What we didn't have was a 3rd down back who can make some plays out of the backfield.

Carey is currently in line for the backup HB role in Chicago, including taking snaps from Matt Forte on passing downs. He'll have a similar role in our offense.

I'm going to go with a guy who B/R ranked as their 13th best RT last year. At 26 I believe he's just now coming into his prime.

The New England Patriots select Joe Barksdale, OT St. Louis Rams

Barksdale made the most of his oppurtunity last year filling in for the oft injured Saffold by taking the RT job away from him. He's penciled in as the starting RT for the real life Rams going into this year. The 6'5" 326 lb monster was highly regarded coming out of LSU as a great technician with decent athletic ability and a massive wingspan (36" arms 10" hands. Even though his agility has been questionable I'm going to put him at LT for now because I think he could be helped greatly by playing beside Martin and having Niklas cover him on the outside occasionally. He gets off the ball quickly too so I'm not overly concerned with him protecting the blindside for Foles. I think he adds some stability to my line and another vet presence even though he's still young. I now have Barksdale, Martin, Zuttah, Bailey and Massie from L to R with Tobin as a jack of all trades and Niklas to help when needed. I don't think I'm done adding depth here but I like what I've been able to do to upgrade the weakest part of my team.

MM is about to have mail.

I'm willing to give MM until tomorrow morning to get his pick in, but his clock is technically up at 11:30 tonight if Eck sent him a PM when he posted.

I'll send Mascho a PM now to make sure he's ready to go for tomorrow.

Eff, my bad - I saw Eck's PM and totally forgot.  I'll have a pick up soon.

EDIT - The Bears select DE Scott Crichton.

Value, value, value.  One can never have too much pass-rushing depth, and I like Crichton as a high-upside rotational pass rusher.

The Sentinels select:

Jared Abbrederis, WR, Wisconsin

Man, I was all over the place with this pick. I have a few needs left to address in this draft, and receiver is one of them. Brandon Gibson might be the odd man out in Miami so I need someone who can play in the slot, but I'd also like someone with sufficient size to step outside if necessary.

I had a few names in mind, but had concerns with each of them. Especially their NFL homes.

Jared is a hometown Wisconsin guy, overachiever his whole life. Walked on at Wisconsin. Now he'll be catching passes in Lambeau from Aaron Rodgers.

As a Nebraska fan married to an University of Illinois sorority chick, I've seen a ton of Big Ten games, and seen a lot of Jared. There is a lot to like. Tough kid, runs great routes, and always manages to come up with the big catch to either keep a drive alive or bail out his QB. Russell Wilson owes Jared a huge debt IMO. Quick too, with a great 3 cone time at the combine. Can also help in the return game. He'll push Gibson for our slot spot and add depth, and be on the field for when we go four wide.

Maybe I reached here, but I think he is a great fit for my squad, given his fit with the Packers.

I knew I had to grab him here because I had visions of you furiously e-mailing/PMing KFP about which WR you guys would move to TE to make room for Jared.

What the hell happened to 121? Without him we have to leave the trash talk to SN and Phragle. The depth for the trash talk position is running dangerously thin. Seriously though... where'd you go? Did I miss a Maalox P&G moment?

Were you looking for a mediocre DE? At least you guys won't have to worry about anyone rushing the passer when you play the Bungles.

When KFP and I evaluated our team this off-season we were quite happy with our tackle play on the offensive line. Michael Roos and Cordy Glenn are two top 20 tackles in the NFL. Combined they gave up a grand total of 4 sacks last year. That's a good starting point. Jon Asamoah at LG was a little banged up last year but played well. Chad Rinehart was also banged up and was basically average when he played. So if we have two A/A- tackles Asamoah is a B+ and Rinehart is a C. Rinehart is better than replacement level (that's an F in my book) but he isn't a star. He's a JAG but he's not a liability. Then you get to center, Gino Gradkowski. He was, imo, objectively the worst starting center last year. Now before we banish Gradkowski to being a backup we want to do what the real life Raven's front office is doing: opening up his job for competition. Gradkowski was coming off a red-shirt year and admitted he needed to put on weight and get in better shape. Now this isn't a case of him being lazy but more of him realizing he needs to be even faster and stronger if he wants to survive in the NFL. It is unclear if he can achieve this. But one thing is clear to us: Gradkowski's ceiling is that of an average center. We want someone who we think has a floor closer to that. There aren't a ton of options available. We liked a few of the C's drafted before us but we had one last guy in the list of draftable centers: Bryan Stork, C, FSU, NEP

Scouting reports on Stork suffer from dissociative identity disorder. "He's a great run blocker but struggles with pass protection" - "No, you fucktwat, he's solid in both pass and run protection but doesn't excel in either" - "Bitches, you are both wrong. He is a shitty run blocker but great in pass blocking!" Our take? We think he can be solid in both with a lot of upside. He explodes off the snap - that we can all agree on. He anchored that FSU line for the past 4 years and in 2013 was a unanimous all American, ACC first teamer, and won the Rimington Trophy: award to the nation's best college center. He is supposed to have/be a nasty side, very competitive, and a natural leader. Scouts all raved about those intangibles - and that's something we take seriously. How hard a guy plays and how hard he studies are things we encourage with the Austin Browns. There have been 15 award winners. You have a bunch of solid above average guys who played a long time, 2 perenial pro-bowlers and then a bunch of flotsam and jetsam. The difference? For the most part if you won the Rimington and were drafted in the 4th round or above you have, in this stupidly small sample size, a good chance of being an above average center. That's what we want. If our line looks like A _ B+ _ B+ _ C _ A- we have a very good line.

So without further adieu here are some Bryan Stork highlights.

Critics review of the movie you just watched:

Stork and Florida State dominated the competition this season. He was a solid run-blocker and a pass-protector for Jameis Winston
- Walter Football

Tenacious and technically-sound center whose awareness and reliability made him an underrated factor in Jameis Winston's Heisman campaign. Very good initial quickness, whether snapping the ball out of shotgun or the traditional exchange and turning to seal off defenders or releasing to block downfield. Shoots his hands into the chest plate of defenders and plays with his knees bent and butt down, maximizing his leverage.

Alert and active. Seeks out extra opponents to block and switches quickly to handle stunts and blitzes. The unquestioned leader of the Seminoles' offensive line. Leaves FSU with 40 career starts, including five at right guard and one at left guard. Also practiced at tackle prior to the 2012 season.

We pretty much had this pick in the makings since we last picked. I figured because he was a Pat someone would grab him. Aside from the bluster of my post I'm just hoping for a slightly above average center. Anything past that would be great. Stork can also backup the G spot (heh heh).

The Rams select CB Orlando Scandrick.

Scandrick is an average CB who overtook Mo Claiborne's RCB spot in Dallas this year. He's historically been more of a slot guy, and that's where he'll play with fixture Brandon Flowers and rookie standout Desmond Trufant (one of my very best picks in the whole draft) playing outside. We needed a reliable guy to play in the slot, and I think the floor here is a lot lower than what we would see from the 4th round corners remaining out there. We think we can make a run. Our rookies have been day 1 starter types, and Scandrick fills one of the last needs on the defense. Happy to have him.

The Bills will take S Jaylen Watkins. Good versatility, can also play CB. Adding Banks, Southward and Watkins will hopefully shore up a leaky secondary from last season. I'm mobile if someone could alert the next guys.

I've ignored much of my Offensive skill positions so it's time to address that situation.

David Wilson is still very much an unknown commodity so let's add some depth the RB position with one of the most athletic guys in the draft.

The San Francisco 49ers select: RB, Jerick McKinnon

An absolute athletic freak. Played QB, RB, and CB in college. Dominated the combine. We're hoping he will focus on one position now in the NFL and learn behind one of the best in the business, AP.

So, I changed my mind like 15 times for this pick but I'm going to go for what I might call the "safe pick".  With Jerrell Freeman, Perry Riley, and Lavonte David, I have the makings of a solid linebacking group, but I need some more depth, and a guy who can get to the QB.  I'll take this overachieving 49ers OLB from Grand Valley State who Jim Harbaugh called "just a good, Flint, Michigan, guy... we're Michigan guys. Just something blue-collar, something gritty, determination about those guys."  He's like a David Eckstein-Nick Punto-Derek Jeter hybrid.

The Broncos take.... Dan Skuta, OLB

Aside from staring deep into into your soul and ripping the shoes off of unsuspecting Cardinals, he will also hopefully get some increased playtime should Aldon Smith take some time off.  He's played a lot on special teams, and has filled in at defensive end and fullback when he's not terrorizing the opposing QB from his natural OLB position.  He'll fit in great on my defense.

Its a muddled mess in Atlanta, but I love what

Devonta Freeman RB

brings to the table. S Jax is on his last legs. And Freeman us better than Quizz. I dont know if he'll be starting this year, but I bet he is in 2015. I like Freeman a lot. Happy to add him to my RB mix.

With Fleener having a bit of a slower start to his career (only a 2.8+ passing and 3.1+ run block grade), it's time to add a pass catching end zone & 3rd down specialist.

In fact, Christian's nephew was the UDFA TE Pats should have added instead of Sudfeld.

Seoul Steelers sassly select:

TE Joseph Fauria

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGsvDrip8zI

Coming in as a UDFA, Fauria made the Lions and immediately started to be a big-play guy. Some stats:
  • 6.2+ overall (12th in the league)
  • 5.7+ passing (this is where he compliments Fleener)
  • 7 TDs (6th in the league) in only 30 targets
Some of his peripherals are still low, but drop rates for both our TEs are what makes this pick a sound one:
  • Coby Fleener: 1st in the league (1.89%)
  • Joseph Fauria: 12th in the league (5.26%)
Versatile Fleener will be our primary TE, with Fauria coming in on obvious passing downs and in the red zone. Both being under 25 (Coby 25, Fauria 24), we got ourselves a dynamic duo.

Our only concern is it that the RW Lions added Ebron, taking away more targets for him. However, we're going to gamble that the 6-7, 255 lbs Fauria will still be a huge red zone target and haul down TDs for Seoul.

I looked into Fauria. I think a few of you might have as well reading the tea leaves around here. I think he's a great red zone threat. My concern is that in real life he's going to see a lot of his play time cut. I'm speculating here but as of 11:15am CST I'm fairly certain had the Lions not drafted Ebron KFP and I would have strongly considered Fauria over Allan Robinson.

If you continue to spell his name wrong, I'm drafting him with correct spelling. Lawyer up.

Fauria and Ebron are different types of TEs, and Pettigrew sucks. I think Fauria's role should only increase, and even if it doesn't a RZ guy like Fauria is extremely valuable.

Yep, Lombardi (Lions new OC) has said this offseason he could fore see situations in which the Lions had 3 TE's on the field at the same time. Like Phragle said they are each different types of players, Pettigrew while not a good receiver is an excellent blocker,  Ebron more of a Jimmie Graham types and Fauria is bascially a big WR. However Fauria's biggest problem is he's a terrible route runner, thats a big reason why he was primarily only used in the red zone last season. The Lions right now really don't have a reliable 3rd WR, if Fauria can improve his route running I could see a lot of situations where some combination of Pettigrew, Fauria, & Ebron are all on the field.

If you stupid faces didn't spell his name right it's not my problem. The 'Necks select Sealver Siliga

I think we have the best 2-gap 30 front in the league, and Siliga is good enough to either rotate in or provide backup at all three positions. He managed to put up a PFF rating of 8.6 on only 328 snaps, and his play looked that good to me.

Im still in need of a ton of help on both sides of the ball.  This pick will be used to help shore up my LB core who are in a serious world of hurt since Maualuga should not be playing at the ILB position anymore (both in real life and on the RF Giants).
