Pretty much anything with Adolfo makes me turn the radio off. He's just not funny or interesting.

Glad I didn't kill mysef getting to the radio when I got to the office.

The way they teased it I was interested and got in the office and forgot about it, kind of glad I did. Was it at least humorous or was it another Canseco big build up, but "that's it?" announcement.
I think "that's it?" sums it up quite nicely.

I thought it was a pretty good story. I wasn't expecting to hear he nailed Kate Upton or anything, but hearing second hand about your Grampa shooting your Dad in the backyard over lawn-watering was pretty funny I thought.

The best part was how cranky Rich got with Adolfo before he told the story. Like, Fred basically told him to calm down.

I don't want to speak for anyone else but to me it is the build up they give to these stories that make them annoying. For 12 hours Rich posted updates on this HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT and then the announcement was Canseco signing with Worcester. Then Fred spends 10 minutes this morning building up the Adolfo story like it is going to be some kind of ground breaking moment in radio because "It even shocked them" and then the story is about Adolfo's crazy family shooting each other over lawn watering.

Without the build up those could have been two cool moments/stories, with the build up and heightened expectations they just fall flat.

I'm with Homebrew on this one. It was somewhat interesting in the way he learned of it, but people shooting family in Texas isn't exactly earth shattering, and they completely over-billed it.

My reaction after was essentially, "Cool story, bro".

Every morning at 8:00 they play the pre-recorded news blurbs from the WBZ news desk. One of the stories during today's news was the retirement of Steve LeVeille from WBZ AM radio. Fred screamed "LE-VEEEEEEEIIILLLLLLLLE!!!!!!!" over the news reel. I was fucking dying laughing.

Did anyone else hear that?

I heard it but didn't get it (don't get WBZ TV in RI)

I heard it too and I cracked up as well, even though I had never heard of Steve LeVeille before--I guess he's been on WBZ for 13 years and now is going to retire to Maine to hang out on a beach.

The bits this week about the "Boston Sports Media Body Issue" were arguably the best bits on the show since the rap battles last summer.

Listen to the archived one about John Dennis. Worth every minute.

ANOTHER 98 Mile Rap Battle. I didn't get to hear the entire thing but it sounds like Felger isn't going to do it this year and Tanguay is? After a pretty lackadaisacal showing by 98.5 lately, I'm pretty excited that they are doing this again.

Fred got a few great jabs in on Felger, talking about how he needs to repeat the same points about Beckett and Lester, and can't be bothered to make a two minute rap. Fred also mentioned how T&R have much higher ratings than Felger and Mazz.

I'm looking forward to this year's battles as well. I thought "98 Mile" was right up there with "Naughty Mazz."

I can't wait to hear the listeners' entries, this should be very good.

A while back (more than 10 years probably), Howard Stern did a song parody contest where listeners submitted entries and the best ones were played on the air. I've never laughed harder in my life. I'm hoping T&R can get some really funny material from their crazy audience.

I know T&R said specifically that they dont' want to turn this into the Whiner Line, but I'm concerned that it is going to become exactly that.

These are pretty funny. And I second what Phenom said, Fred ripping Felger for not participating is priceless. "Lord knows, to take 2 minutes out of your day to stop doing the same contrived Beckett thing would really hurt."

Maybe it's because of my intense dislike for both Tanguay and Gresh, but I thought both were very dissapointing this morning.

Wallach and Zo should both advance instead of one of these two.

It's not you, those were fucking weak. I liked Tanguay's until Fred dropped that Rich really did everything and all Tanguay did was speak a few lines and let Rich drop it into a song.

I listened to Wallach's last night and wasn't impressed with that either. Good for them for trying, but so far it hasn't been nearly as impressive as last year.

I think DA was matched up with Rich specifically because those are the 2 best. Rich said last year that he's glad he lost early (despite the fact he had a really good one) so he could focus on everyone else's production.

I think that last year, he was looking for a reason to pull out anyways, and since they had 5 people advance, he dropped as the "winner with the lowest margin of victory" to make it an even bracket moving forward.

Rich junked Adolfo's rap half way through it and put in Chachi to wrap. Very well done!
I was dying when Rich transitioned to Chachi - that skit was hilarious. Sucks for Fred because I thought his was very good as well, just not quite as funny.

That was awesome.

Edit: even better was Adolfo crying about his rap being yanked midstream.
I didn't listen to T&R pre-Sports Hub so I don't really get Adolfo, but scarily enough I sort of agreed with him this morning. They know who and what he is, if they didn't want him to do this poorly, why bother including him when Felger dropped out? Why not have Hardy, Chachi, Jim Murray, or a weekend guy do it instead? I don't really find Adolfo the character to be very amusing, but I also don't really understand it when they seem to go out of their way to embarass him.

I know what you mean erfus, I've never been a fan of Adolfo and can't fucking stand him so I found it amusing when he was crying about being bumped, at the same time it was kind of a dick thing to do. I don't think Fred liked it much either, not because he's going to lose, but because it was kind of unfair to Adolfo.

Putting Adolfo on the radio is the quickest way to get me to turn off the radio. He's not funny and their skits with him aren't funny. Just sorta sad.

DA's rap was terrible this morning. The chorus was atrocious, and his lines about Rich being inconsequential to "Toucher and Rich" made no sense because as we know, he's responsible for all of the bits.

However, Rich killed it. Wallach, Rich, and Fred have all had the best raps thus far.

Rich had by far the better rap, but DA's line with the Rich-Bitch-Glitch flow killed me. The rest of his, particularly the hook, was meh.

DA's was awful, i was amazed how bad it was.It was Adolfo level.
They moved it back a day since he just got back from vacation and it sounded like he just mailed it in. Rich's seemed like it was about 3 minutes long, he was much better prepared.

Generally, I'm not sure there's enough material for this to be an annual event with the same cast of characters. They need to cast a wider net, which they started to do this year with Tanguay and Bertrand.

When Bobby Valentine is fired, the thing I'm going to miss most is Rich's impression of him. No matter what he says, I laugh really hard.

Beetle's rap was an awesome takedown of Mazz.

And Mazz fires back almost as well.
Best rap battle yet. I actually think Mazz takes it, but barely.

What a lame move by Felger to pull out of the contest.

His spring training rants were hilarious.

I can't get Mazz's chorus out of my head.
