im actually not sure. They made it sound like it was new, so that's my guess.

It was new, they had weekend segments like the Kentucky Derby and Game 2 of the Blackhawks/Wild series.

I was laughing to tears in my car, at one point I thought I might have to pull over because I was having trouble seeing.

I can't figure out the accent Adolfo uses while doing play by play, its some sort of mush mouth attempt at major-market-radio-announcer-voice. Hilarious. I look forward to Adolfo's calls of future sporting events

Holy shit, that segment is one of the funniest things I've heard in a long time. It was like half of Adolfo's brain shut down when he ws trying to keep up with the action. Incredible stuff.

Can I assume the reason that they kept harping on debunking the idea of the "young players being overwhelmed by the atmosphere in Montreal" is that F&M were pushing it in the afternoon?

Just seemed weird that they were so fixated on it, both in the Boychuk interview then today with Jaffe this morning.

I heard Zolak railing against the idea, but I don't know where it originally comes from.

On another note, someone from WEEI just called the show to call them out on replaying bits. It was weird, and when they called him out on being from WEEI he didn't really know what to say.

His reply was "And what station is that?" in an effort to get them to name WEEI. So stupid. They get owned so bad by T&R, and then resort to that petty mmmmm-crap-uggghhhhhhhhhhh [/Therrien].

Cross posting from the Tech Forum:

Bump. I'm looking for a new radio streamer since Tunein just dropped a phenomenal turd of an update last week. Does anyone have something they'd recommend? I usually use it to listen to T&R in the morning....I'd love to be able to pause a live stream so I can skip the commercials.

Thanks!

The Gomes stuff always gets me.

Rich: Do you think he knows the word is "granted", not "granite"?

Fred did a pretty good job taking down Kirk Minnihane and Dennis and Callahan. I got into the middle of segment around 8:20-ish and it was really great.

Was it the clip about the sports debate? That was a replay of an old segment. Rich ran a highlight tape because it is their 9th anniversary this week during the long 8:00 segment.

Yes. That was the one.

Damn, that's what I get for getting into the car too late.

I was wondering why they replayed it. That may be Fred's best rant. Between starting out with Faster Guy (god I miss him) and going right into that, it was great.

Just read on BSMW that Fred went after Amendola for hanging up on Adam Jones. Didn't Fred hang up on Pitino and then brag about it?

Fred also said he wouldn't have an issue if Amendola had hung up on someone like them or F&M who might ask some annoying questions. His issue was with him hanging up on a guy like Jones who is a "pro" and not into playing "gotcha" or driving controversy.

The Amendola thing was Thursday morning, and when I got to work they had not determined if it was a hangup or just got cut off.  He had called in to plug a charity event, and Jones was asking him about injury issues when the call ended.  No charity event got plugged due to that.

I thought Adam Jones epitomizes everything that is wrong with sports radio. I don't listen to him but others have said he's a blowhard who just rips players and coaches constantly with his hot sports takes.

The fact that Amendola never called back would suggest he hung up intentionally.

Really? I've never heard that listening to him. I can't speak for his time on ESPN. I do t listen to him that much though.

He gets a little too hot sports takes for my liking whereas Keefe sounds more like the normal guy. But then again my tolerance for hot sports takes is very low.

T&R are looking for a 9-10 year old soccer fanatic to oppose them in a quiz on Monday. Potential contestants should reach out to Rich on twitter.

Get your entry in before LTF finds out and his kid mops the floor with T&R.

He wasn't too bad, actually. That being said, Fred can be a bit of a dick sometimes.

The weird thing is Wallach has been in the industry for decades, I'm not sure why being on the air for five minutes by himself would be that huge of a deal for him. I'm sure that he's done radio without a partner before. Adolfo, yeah, I can see him getting nervous and tongue-tied, but Wallach? I'm not seeing the big deal.

It was the subject matter. Wallach has done more than 5 minutes on all sorts of sports topics plenty of times in the past. It was him not knowing what the topic was until a minute beforehand, and then the actual subject itself.

Just to go back a few days--

I really, really enjoy Jones and Keefe at night. I actually find the show to be a dark  horse for the best programming on the station, depending on the kind of week T&R are having. The disclaimer there is, that like most listeners, I only hear them now and then -- 10 minutes when I'm running an errand at night, or the occasional long evening drive. But the banter, the bits, the discussion is usually pretty good.

So it was odd that I found them to be pretty miserable in the morning slot. They seemed to be trying to play to a bigger audience, and it really hurt the quality IMO.

On the one hand, I love the Shank trolling. On the other hand, I'd rather they didn't give him any airtime.

Edit: Okay, that song was solid.

No mention here bit T&R are nominated for a Marconi and now something we hear every 12 weeks.

@Toucherandrich: Thank you for making Toucher & Rich once again the #1 Morning Show in Boston for Spring 2014. Steak and eggs!

It was from a drunken fan recap after a B's game IIRC.  Some guy in the background said "Stanky leg" and Fred took that to be "Steak and eggs" and riffed on that for a while.

I like T&R but if there were an alternative that focused 99% on sports stuff without the baggage that D&C bring, I'd probably listen more to that alternative.

This morning's show with Tanguay filling in for Rich was unlistenable.  Gary is really difficult to tolerate.

He's horrible. I made it through about five minutes this morning before I had to shut it off. It's a close call between Tanguay and Mike Adams for the most intolerable sports "personality." I would rather listen to Gresh.

So true.  I cannot stomach Gary Tanguay.  He has no talent whatsoever; he's not funny, he doesn't give good sports insights, and his faux outrage is so transparent it's brutal.  I changed the station the moment I heard his voice.  I would honestly rather listen to commercials than Gary Tanguay.

True, but the 15 minutes or so I listened to included Fred ranting about his wife and kids - funny stuff. Wish Rich was there, he has the ability to goad Fred into extending the rant to ridiculous lengths. Gary, on the other hand is a complete buzzkill
