True, but they're usually the culmination of months of negotiating and planning with many dominos falling. Selling Bale now would leave them scrambling. A striker has been needed since Berbatov left so signing Soldado or Damaio wouldn't count as reinvesting the funds. I honestly think selling now is crazy. The players that they could have spent the money on that they could have reasonably attracted, players like Higuain, Mkhritriyan, Aubameyang and Moutinho have already moved. Keep Bale, start preparing and negotiating for three or four players and do it next year.
Right but most negotiations aren't done out in the public for B+/A- players.
For example, last August, Spurs got:
Lloris for £12m which was a drawn out negotiation
Dempsey for £7m which came out of nowhere
Dembele for £15m which came out of nowhere
Adebayor for £5m which was forever-taking
And sold VDV after 2 days of talks.
Also...why wouldn't Soldado or Damaio count as reinvesting the money? Just because they need them? Well no shit, but the biggest argument for selling Bale would be to fund getting guys like Damaio and Soldado.
And finally, since I think there is a good amount of wrong in most of your posts, Spurs haven't been missing a good striker since Berbatov went to United. They needed one to help lift the scoring pressure on Bale after Defoe turned into a wee pumpkin in November, but the year before they got 18 goals from Adebayor, 17 from Defoe and 13 from VDV (all playing forwards), the year before, Pavyluchenko had 14, VDV had 15, and Crouch had 11.
The year before, they had 24 from Defoe, 10 from Pavyluchencko, and 13 from Crouch. In all 4 seasons, Spurs finised 4th twice, and 5th twice, and scored a lot of goals each year.
Stick to Newcastle.
