I can't wait to hear how he spins the Rinaldo acquisition.

I'm just waiting to hear if the supposedly "tough Boston sports media" actually asks him some hard questions. More then likely they'll ask him general questions about the thought process instead of confronting him with "Why in the world would you trade a 3rd round pick for waiver wire fodder like Zac Rinaldo?" or "In what league does Adam McQuaid deserve a four year contract."

The hour he wasted doing this on draft day could have been better utilized, you know, locking down a deal for the #3 pick.

I mean, I know their refrain is that trading is hard - it's harder if you give yourself 1 less hour to do so 2 hours from the god damn draft.

Why is he giving another impromptu media session?

Do they realize that they're getting killed by the fans and media and feel the need to address their moves? This is odd.
It's the standard pre-free agency press conference. They do it every year.

I just hope the media members grill him instead of lobbing slow pitch soft balls up there.

Don... getting 5 of your 6 defensemen back from '13-'14 isn't necessarily a good thing.

DJ Bean: What made Rinaldo a target for you? 3rd rounder is a steep price to pay for him...
DS: Wanted a little more energy, pushed that pick out to 2017, player who's still young and "plays with a tremendous amount of courage" HAHAHA
DS pt 2: "You guys are evaluating the prices paid, we're evaluating the conversations we're having" (?)

Lindblad not qualified (Flick/Morrison are the other two). Lindblad is an in-house Kelly replacement, hopefully they can bring him back below his QO.

Pierre LeBrun called in, haha. Asking about Jones, possibility of offer sheet - no real answer from DS, still in conversations.

Mike Loftus: Warsofsky, Paul Carey unrestricted?
DS: Yes, will let them go to UFA but may revisit (groundbreaking stuff)
ML: Bartkowski?
DS: He's 'out and exploring', headed to UFA

Fluto calls in

Fluto: Would you consider signing players to offer sheets?
DS: Any club would consider that, club in everyone's bag, etc
Fluto: Have you had UFA players in for interviews?
DS: We've spoken to player reps, no in-person interviews yet [that would be tampering potentially]
Fluto: What kind of players are you seeking?
DS: Goalscorers, either through UFA or trade market, guys who may not have a full body of work or make
Fluto: Did you discuss Savard with Arizona?
DS: I've discussed Savard with a lot of teams, yes - still an option

Steve Whyno from Canadian Press up now

- DS believes trade market will be active (ya maybe last weekend)
- Seems like DS's MO no matter what is to get out of cap jail, which is encouraging - however his moves have not reflected that.

I wish someone would ask "What is it that you're trying to do? Because no one can figure out the fucking plan here."

~$1 million in overages applied to next seasons cap.

He says we have cap space to be active in free agency (I cringe we Clarkson Beleskey). I just don't see it, unless another contract moves out in the next few hours. I get we don't have to pay Hamilton anymore, but we still only have about $6 million in space, with 3 RFA's to sign.

Just kill me. It literally seems like posters on this board could be better GMs. Looking for goal scorers but yet trades for 3rd and 4th line goons. Bickell is not a goal scorer. If that deal happens I dunno

I'm scared of what this team will do on the market. Krecji for an enforcer. Get it done! FIGHT BRUINS FIGHT!

is it possible Jacobs is playing the long game here? Suck badly for two years and then even a first round playoff appearance will seem awesome.

Is there some super-prospect coming available for the draft in the next few seasons?

Then they are doing a terrible job of that as well.  They are stuck right in the middle.  They have the potential to finish anywhere from 7th to 12th.  Not good enough to go deep in the playoffs and not bad enough to get a high pick.

Exactly. The true suck is not finishing last, but finishing neither in contention for the playoffs or a top pick. I may be on to something here.
