Denver is a possibility. Zero chance the raiders bring him in with Carr.
I think Philly is a possibility too. Despite the Giggles play this year, a QB of Kaep's caliber in that offense could be very lethal. Based on Lurie's very slow hook in the past, I can seem him sticking with Chip until he has the system QB he needs. My guess is he needs to fail with the proper QB to get fired.

I think that depends on how long it takes for him to get healthy. He has something like $60M+ in injury protection if he is on the roster after April 1 of next year. I think if he is cut before that time, SF is only on the hook for the signing bonus and save $9.3M in cap space. Honestly, I think they cut him. I seriously doubt any team trades for him with the injury and other contracts pieces that vest after April 1.

Dogman is a smart man, and has BINGO on this, IMO.

And an excellent promotion to Dope - good choice to lead this forum going forward.

The Raiders will need a back up this winter, as Matt McGloin is a free agent. The Raiders also badly wanted Kaepernick in the 2011 draft, but were out maneuvered by Baalke to get him, but that was Al Davis, not current GM Reggie McKenzie.

That said, he isn't going to sign in Oakland or anywhere else where he would be a back up. Once teams see the price in trade that, say, Matt Stafford costs, and they watch Lynch, Cook etc look pretty average at the combine, they are going to be willing to pay Kaep starter money. I think the 49ers are going to allow Kaep and his agent to work out a contract with some team and try to get some compensation from that team. A team will be willing to give up a third day pick or two just to avoid having to compete on the open market for a recently cut Kaepernick.

Here is an excellent article on the topic from Jason Fitzgerald at OTC:

As someone who has been the target of his moral outrage, I agree. Its a thankless job keeping jackasses like myself in line as we hide behind the anonymity of our keyboards.

I think Kaep is done as an NFL QB but a change of scenery and scheme certainly can't hurt. Maybe he'll surprise me. He has a hell of an arm and tremendous athleticism so there's an outside chance he puts it back together somewhere else. And maybe a year backing someone up could help.

But Marathe will remain the team’s chief contract negotiator and manage their salary cap. He will also continue to run the team’s football analytics department.

Article says he's not expected to retain his title (president) after the season. A big sticking point with him in 49er message boards has always been that he has no football playing experience. But, I don't know, did Theo Epstein play any baseball?

And here's where Schefter repays Paraag for years of leaks...
What he's reporting also happens to be true. Friend who would know says it was well known this was Paraag's desire and has been in the works for 6+ months. There's a LOT more money to be made where he's going.

GJGE sports media. As is too common, only Schefter is right.

This is super-interesting to me. Kawakami is all-in on this being a demotion and has made clear he is being told as much. Pretty embarrassing for him if your friend has it right.

In other news, the win today may have cost the Niners quite a few draft spots though I'm sure they'll take it. I'm curious to see if Gabbert is the real deal. He's certainly showing some signs of being decent.
