He should be. But pre-season there was talk of Twin Towers and such with him and Gronk. Not that anyone expects him to be Gronk, but he's had fewer snaps than expected, only 136 yards total production in the snaps he has had, and in a game with injuries to both Lewis and JE -- hence one where I'd expect him to have a bigger role -- he had another huge drop. Not sure what his official drop stats are, but I thought of him as more sure-handed (but you may know him better from his Bills' days, so perhaps not as surprised).I have the same top 4 as you, but do you really think Chandler has been a disappointment? He's been exactly what we should have expected, I think. Capable of making some good plays, but also drops a few more than you would like. I think he's a fine complementary piece.
I mean, when it was 4th and 10 and Brady had just thrown a sure-fire pick that the guy dropped and they looked pretty incapable of gaining 10 yards, yes, I had a doubt.I just got off the phone with my buddy and he says if they lose it would have been on Brady. I think Brady played great. Yes, he had turnovers, but that offensive line they put out there today might be the worst in the NFL. Did anyone doubt they'd win when they got the ball back with 147 left?
I did when Brady pulled a Peyton and threw a pass that is picked off 80% of the time. This coming on the heels of a goal line INT. Brady was also bailed out by his OL when he was stripped even though he appeared to be trying to run with the ball.I just got off the phone with my buddy and he says if they lose it would have been on Brady. More likely he's still a little thrown after Edelman yelled at him in BurgerTyme.Ryan Allen with a bit of a step back tonight, his drops must be giving him trouble because he had no directional control at all tonight.
Truth. I tried explaining it to my kids but I'm sure I sounded more like a coked up Pete Carroll than coach dad so it probably made no sense.Amendola for many reasons highlighted here, but also for (probably just following orders) choosing NOT to return a very returnable kickoff before The Drive. Situational fucking football.
I had to read that twice. Three times.Amendola
Butler
Ghost
fwiw, Tom Jackson heaped tons of praise on Butler in the ESPN recap
Freeny was a disaster in coverage. Hope we don't see that much going forward.Patrick Chung had a difficult game. I've loved his evolution but he was a bit slow in coverage.
Coleman was benched but he was bad too. The team doesn't have a 3rd CB.Was Coleman benched or did he get hurt? Cuz Melvin was as bad as he was in that divisional playoff game
While it was certainly good hustle by Stork it is mitigated by the fact that the guy that made the strip sack was his guy.Shout out to Stork for the fumble recovery. In a game of massive moments, that's one that'll get forgotten.
I thought Brady was bad (for him.) The fumbles were a result of bad decision making, and he was a drop away from two back breaking INTs. Doesn't help the team around him is drained, but still.
I was very happy to see that because I really love watching the dude (beckham) play. Don't want to see him turn into the diva wideout a la TO.While it was certainly good hustle by Stork it is mitigated by the fact that the guy that made the strip sack was his guy.
I also liked the obvious respect that Beckham showed Butler. There were reports earlier in the year that Beckham was a real diva and didn't respect his opponents.
Boy, isn't that the truth. Running a first down play that only took 5 seconds with 2:06 on the clock saved the Patriots 40 seconds. It was a good play. But the difference between a five-second play and a six-second play likely was the ball game. I think you have to run a play there that, if you don't score the TD ensures the worst you can do is run the clock down to 1:10. A five-second incompletion puts losing on the table.Special game balls also to Coughlin/McAdoo/Eli for once again having awesome end game clock management.
OBJ and Butler are both second year players, it's not like OBJ is a wily veteran with a long pedigree. And of course if you compare their signature plays, Butler's was much more meaningful.I totally agree with the consensus of Butler, Amendola and Ghost. Regarding Butler, I thought a telling moment was the pat on the ass from Beckham toward the end of the game, as in "hell of a game kid".
Rice was the diva, TO an annoying flake. JMO.I was very happy to see that because I really love watching the dude (beckham) play. Don't want to see him turn into the diva wideout a la TO.
Rice's glory days are a bit before I started watching football seriously so you may be right.Rice was the diva, TO an annoying flake. JMO.
He actually bitched (through the papers) about not getting the ball enough while he was Montana's and Young's #1 target for years.Rice's glory days are a bit before I started watching football seriously so you may be right.
Well, importantly, he bounced back from that pass to throw an unnecessary low-percentage bomb that should have been intercepted. THEN he had a difficult drive that needed a great kick to win it.Brady. Bounces back from worst pass of the season like its nothing. Ho hum drive to win the game.
Hey. Costanza. HE SAID HE DIDNT DO THAT!Was that before or after he applied the stickum to his gloves?
That's awesome. On the espn.com/boston home page, there's a short video taken during an Orlando-Boston flight as Ghost kicks the game winner. 12 seconds worth of fun
His most common nickname growing up was "Beav"; he lost two front teeth playing hockey and had fake teeth that were too large put in as replacements.Heh, people might want to take a gander at Gost's wikipedia page currently
Considering how little respect he gets, Chandler still gets the Gronk like he's so big it's not a penalty if you do it to him treatment. The refs were extra bad today. There really appears to be a double standard with Gronk.
Butler was amazing. Danny was the key man on that last drive.
and that punt return was huge.
