Lakers '18 unprotected, a 2019 PHI pick and something off either the current roster or BOS picks can probably get them Butler if he's really available. He can't turn it into Jackson and Butler.

I needed to hear this. Thank you.Is this going to end up as badly as the time they passed on Bender and Hield?
Even if it is enough to beat the Cavs, it is not going to be enough to beat the Warriors.Hypothetically is IT/Butler/Hayward/Horford plus Crowder/Smart/Brown bench pieces enough to surpass the Cavs? Assuming AB is dealt separately.
You can't trade for Butler and sign Hayward without ditching 20+ million in salary, so Smart, Crowder and Bradley would all have to go. Unless you can find a taker for Zeller without getting a player in return. Then you could keep one of those players.Hypothetically is IT/Butler/Hayward/Horford plus Crowder/Smart/Brown bench pieces enough to surpass the Cavs? Assuming AB is dealt separately.
Pretty sure Zeller is not guaranteed. You can't trade for Butler and sign Hayward without ditching 20+ million in salary, so Smart, Crowder and Bradley would all have to go. Unless you can find a taker for Zeller without getting a player in return. Then you could keep one of those players.
Zeller is non-guaranteed yes.Pretty sure Zeller is not guaranteed.
Right. Ainge loves those 1 year + club option deals.Pretty sure Zeller is not guaranteed.
Zeller's deal is nonguaranteed until 7/2/17, so you can just release him.You can't trade for Butler and sign Hayward without ditching 20+ million in salary, so Smart, Crowder and Bradley would all have to go. Maybe, though Hayward (and Brown) can both play the 2, and Jackson and Crowder can play minutes at the 4. Plus Jackson isn't likely to be ready to play big minutes on a top 3 team in the conference so you have another year to decide what to do.If Jackson really is the target at #3, what implications does it have for going after Hayward in FA? Does that make Blake more likely to be their top target? Or they're trading one or both of Crowder and Brown?
Saw a report that DSJ is scheduled to work out for the Celtics tomorrow. Wouldn't be shocked if Ainge was high on him. Or Tatum. Or Isaac...you don't make this trade if you don't have a top tier of at least 3 players. This isn't about getting Jackson, if they loved Jackson that much they would just take him #1. They'll either take BPA at 3 or trade it.
He's working Smith out this weekend per Jay King and I wouldn't be surprised if he's worked out people without the media knowing as well.If I had to guess, Danny's just listening right now. He's also trying to drive up the price between PHI and LA. It's smart timing that the news is coming out now - particularly given the leak about Magic being in love with Fultz.
I trust Danny on this one. To my knowledge, he's never been fleeced in a trade he's made and in fact he has said that he would have to be overwhelmed to trade the #1 pick. I don't think he's really all-in on Jackson or Tatum or Ball but I think he's trying to make someone overwhelm him enough that he doesn't have to worry about who he takes. I mean he hasn't worked out any of Ball, Jackson, Tatum, Fox, or Smith so this isn't about a player. It must be about the haul.
This is strange as hell.Jordan SchultzVerified account @Schultz_Report 1m1 minute ago
Markelle Fultz will in fact meet with the #Celtics in Boston tomorrow, per source. Hard to know what that means, but their mtg is locked in.
I think he's also going to fly down and meet with them... haNegotiating ploy against Philly?
Danny just wants to see if Fultz can hold a fork properly.Negotiating ploy against Philly?
What are the better chips teams though? An unprotected likely top 5 odds lottery pick plus another pick to move down 2 spots is a pretty big haul. Very little out there I can think of that's much more valuable. My hope is that this turns into a bidding war with other teams who have better chips, there has to be someone willing to part with player +
Or maybe swap 3 for 5 and 10?Byron Solomon @BSolomonsHood
@stevekylerNBA can you confirm Fultz meeting with the Cs tmrw? It was reported that he was then he was going to Philly instead.

Have heard 76ers trying to get him in, while Celtics working on Fox, Isaac and Tatum
Looks like Celtics are trying to work out a number of players that may be there at 3 in case Jackson isn't there.
Huh? If Jackson isn't there that means Ball is, unless Bryan Colangelo is a fucking moron and takes Jackson at #1.Byron Solomon @BSolomonsHood

Yes but Ball isn't someone Ainge is likely to draft thankfullyDanny has

We don't know how big Ainge's first tier is.We need quality not quantity.
It's not about Lavar. Many people don't like Lonzo at the NBA level. I suppose we can try to have a conditional trade worked out for him, in case he's available at 3.I hate Lavar Ball with the fire of thousand burning suns, but you take Lonzo at #3 and you don't even think about it.
I like Ball more than most, but no. And definitely no given Danny's typical preferences. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he has both Fox and Smith Jr. ahead of Ball as PG prospects.I hate Lavar Ball with the fire of thousand burning suns, but you take Lonzo at #3 and you don't even think about it.
LaVar has nothing to do with it to me. Lonzo Ball needs so much to go right to be a star.I hate Lavar Ball with the fire of thousand burning suns, but you take Lonzo at #3 and you don't even think about it.
So much this, nothing else is a rational explanation. This only makes sense to me if they like Fox as much as Fultz.
How likely is that pick to be a top 5 though? Odds have to be under 50% given the teams will be improving with top picks this year. There were 9 teams last year with 33 wins or less. A couple more wins from PHI/LAS and a bad ping pong bounce could easily have you looking at the #3 this year and #7 next year. Don't think that is worth close to #1 this year, esp when the likely #3 pick is not projected to be an elite difference maker nor a position of need. What are the better chips teams though? An unprotected likely top 5 odds lottery pick plus another pick to move down 2 spots is a pretty big haul. Very little out there I can think of that's much more valuable.
Wasn't he a consensus #1 tier player among gm's according to Ford? I think public view of him is much lower than the pro view. Still #2 in most mocks.Ball might be in for a slide if Magic doesn't want him.
I'd have to this this is Danny's thinking as well.My hope is that this turns into a bidding war with other teams who have better chips, there has to be someone willing to part with player +
Funny, I get the sense it's the other way around.Wasn't he a consensus #1 tier player among gm's according to Ford? I think public view of him is much lower than the pro view.
Top 5 odds is what I said, so yes likely a top 7 pick. The Lakers were the 3rd worst team this year, and don't really have a path to improve significantly before next year, they have limited cap space, and a rookie isn't likely to improve the team's win loss totals. That is a very valuable pick. And if your worst case scenario is the #7 pick plus from a trade down of 2 spots... pretty good. And the trade value on that pick in year is pretty good. How likely is that pick to be a top 5 though? Odds have to be under 50% given the teams will be improving with top picks this year. MIN isn't trading KAT who is one of the best young players in the league and doesn't even hit RFA for several years for more lotto picks. What would it take to get KA Townes.
#3, the LA' 18 #1, the Nets '18 #1, Smart or AB, more?
would NO trade KAT, a guy who could walk in 3 years for a haul now?
I think he probably means Anthony Davis.NO doesn't even have KAT, Minny does. And No.
