most teams don’t have a backup kicker. Unless the punter has a background kicking (which is increasingly rare), the backup kicker is usually a position player -as we saw with the Texans using their special teams RB to kick earlier in the season.

for PAT, the chances of getting a 2 point try are probably more successful than any non-place kicker trying the extra point.
