I think this is the league’s fault. It‘s clear the refs are just getting awful guidance.

A few years ago Aaron Rodgers got hurt when someone landed on him when he got sacked. I can’t remember if it was a separated shoulder or a broken collarbone or what, but the NFL Buster Posey’d a new rule for the next season that makes defending players defy the laws of physics in tackling QBs. You can’t land on them with your full weight.

But he didn’t land on him with his full weight like you normally see when that call is made. Man this one was absurd.

I have no problem with the body weight thing once the QB has released the ball but while he has the ball? If he wants protection he needs to throw. If it’s a pick or grounding, ok. But if he has the ball, he should be eligible to be tackled.

pretty sure that’s been a rule since tony siragusa knocked rich Gannon out of a playoff game that way.
