Had they not scored, it would have made be feel soooo much better about the Bruins' anemic power plays of recent years.

Oh man, that hit looks worse and worse every time I watch it. Backes' head hits the shoulder then the dasher. He had clearly lost the puck, although Seabrook may not have been able to see that. It didn't look like he cared much though.

That's 5-7 games in the regular season, or 4 playoff games if you're a scrub like Aaron Rome. My guess is Seabrook gets 1-2, which is sad

What's more demoralizing for an NHL goaltender: Having the winning goal rifle past your ear into the net, a victory blast that caroms off the post or crossbar, or a squibber like that one that dribbles over the line in slow motion through the 5-hole?

First law of goaltending: keep your fucking stick down.

MacKinnon had the puck behind the net on both the equalizer and game winner. His poise for an 18-year-old is ridiculous (not to mention his speed and physical talent). I feel like saying the kid is going to be a superstar is an understatement. I think he is going to be a Hall of Famer.

^ he's incredible.

The goal he scored tonight to get the Avs on the board was flat-out ridiculous, getting two defenders to bite on a fake to the left before juking right and wristing it in through a screen. So fast, incredibly agile, insane stick work, and a laser-guided rifle for a shot.

McKinnon again, rushing up ice, makes the backhand drop pass from right to left behind his back to Landeskog who wrists it home.

Wow. I'm in awe of this kid. Can't believe he's only 18.

I'm 100% on the MacKinnon bandwagon too. Even just the behind the back pass he just made at the blue line on the PP was incredibly filthy yet subtle. Not a flashy play but incredible vision and the right decision under pressure at the blue line.

He's the real deal.

Dammit, Roenick just called the 18-year-old a future Hall of Famer. Now I hate my prediction.

If Landeskog-Stastny-MacKinnon keep playing like this for a few rounds, that will make the Stastny contract situation very interesting.

That might be the most exciting and hard-earned empty-net goal I've ever seen.

7 points in 2 playoff games for MacKinnon.

Ryan Kesler's 2010 Olympics ENG to down Canada springs to mind as well.

According to the graphic, tied for the most points ever in a player's first two playoff games with Barry Peterson (1982) and Odie Cleghorn (1919).

Now up to 5 unanswered.  The Kings D has not had a stellar second and third period

Quick looks helpless... because he actually is. He hasn't been sharp, but he's being hung out to dry tonight.

Quick is having another...poor night, to say the least.

Well, it's not his fault the opposition gets a 3-on-none breakaway.

If I were Quick, I'd just skate off the ice and say "Fuck all you assholes" --- to my teammates.

Also, San Jose's goal song is atrocious.

It's so... California. It should be accompanied by a video of Suzanne Summers using a Thighmaster on Venice Beach.

These games are on past my bedtime. What the hell has happened to the vaunted LA King defense? And is Quick pulling a Fleury or is he on his own back there?

Quick has not been very good but he's mostly getting hung out to dry.  San Jose's transition game is killing LA with speed in the neutral zone, LA's D are on their heels, and their forwards are not backchecking very well, which is leading to a lot of wide open shots from the high slot.  SJ got 7 last night and it was an easy 7, at least 4 or 5 Quick had no chance on.

The additions of Hertl, Torres, and Nieto to San Jose's lineup have changed the whole makeup of the team.  They are MUCH faster up front than they were before, and these playoffs are the first time they've iced their full lineup since Torres missed basically the whole season and Hertl missed the whole second half.  Torres is of course a despicable thug but because of that he's extremely underrated as an actual hockey player when he's not getting himself suspended, he's a big guy who can really skate with pretty good hands for a third liner.

LA wants to play a grind-it-out game, and when they've been able to establish their forecheck they've looked good.  SJ's biggest weakness is that after Vlasic (who is great, and one of the most underrated player in the league), their D-mean are nothing special, and LA can push them around on the forecheck when they get it going.  But LA hasn't been able to do that much besides the third period of Game 1 when SJ sat back with a 5-0 lead.  The scores have been pretty reflective of how well the teams are actually playing.  Well see if things change in LA when Sutter can get the matchups he wants.
