Man, the Yankee hype machine is so intense. So much of these negotiations are going through the press. Virtually every report has heavily stilted language in the Yankees' favor.Looks like we are looking at a deal centered around King and Thorpe. Which I am cool with:

By something called the MiLB Awards Show in its inaugural season, which appears to be operated by broadcasters. Not sure how rigorous that is. The Baseball America Pitcher of the Year was Robby Snelling.Thorpe was also just named the overall MILB pitcher of the year in his first season.
King's surgery was a year ago, I think, and he just threw the most innings of his career. He's a pitcher, so still an injury risk for sure. That package seems underwhelming to me. King is 28 and has two years of control left, just had surgery for a rare elbow injury as a result of overuse, and has only faced 20 batters in an outing five times in his career. Thorpe's fastball sits 89-93 mph.
Wondering about this from the Yankees perspective: If the bidding for Yamamoto gets in the 275-300M range, will the Yankees go there AND work to extend/resign Soto for what Boras is going to want for him?Could YamaSoto be happening?
I have no idea. However, I do think, these are the people you pay the big money to. 25 year-old elite level talent. And they have enough young players to fill in the gaps I think.Wondering about this from the Yankees perspective: If the bidding for Yamamoto gets in the 275-300M range, will the Yankees go there AND work to extend/resign Soto for what Boras is going to want for him?
I mean, we all know they can pay it ... but is the thinking that they will pay it?
Yeah, you get the impression that there is a strong sense of urgency here this offseason. Would be insane for them to bring in Soto AND Yamamoto. If the Yankees are giving up all this pitching for Soto and are in “win right f@#! now” mode, I don’t see them being outbid for Yamamoto. No half measures, as they say.
I mean, it was pretty official, 'broadcasters' were the MLB Network, but Snelling was top 3 also. The point remains the same whether he's first or third, Jarrett Seidler says he's a top 50 guy overall and maybe higher:By something called the MiLB Awards Show in its inaugural season, which appears to be operated by broadcasters. He means top 50 of all 2024 draftees, not all MiLB guys though, right? Not sure what you meant.Jarrett Seidler says he's a top 50 guy overall and maybe higher:
It's not well phrased, but he is part of the team putting together the Baseball Prospectus 101 list for their Annual, so he means the #42 prospect in all of MLB.He means top 50 of all 2024 draftees, not all MiLB guys though, right. Not sure what you meant.
Edit: nevermind, 2024 draft hasn't happened yet I don't think.
I was also wondering this. Assuming they woo and ultimately re-sign Soto, which must be their hope, I think they would end up with 5 six-figure players (Cole, Rodon, Yamamoto, Judge, Soto). Of course, any team that can afford it would sign up for at least 3 of those 5 contracts in a heartbeat (Cole, Judge, Soto). Probably the same goes for Yamamoto. And I agree with the following:Wondering about this from the Yankees perspective: If the bidding for Yamamoto gets in the 275-300M range, will the Yankees go there AND work to extend/resign Soto for what Boras is going to want for him?

Could be Ben Rice also, but Higgy/Rortvedt/Narvaez are all very expendable.Buzz that Yankees will add catcher to deal. Assuming that won’t be Wells.
He is a guy, from a fantasy baseball perspective, I had a lot of hope for a couple years back. He just hasn't built on what looked like his early promise.Grisham has two years of control, through 2025. His hitting profile translates well to Yankee Stadium:

I don't think Soto and Yamamoto would make the Yankees favorites next season, but assuming a Soto extension/resigning at some point, along with the development of young talent they already have, the Yankees potentially have a young nucleus that could make them very competitive for a while.Getting Soto probably helps them land YY if he wants to land with a team with a chance to win it all. They'd immediately be odds on favorites by far to win the whole thing damnit! Fuck this shit!
Cashman loves 26-27 year olds with big prospect pedigree who haven't clicked on their previous teams, which describes both Verdugo and Grisham, both former 1st round picks who were on lots of top 100 lists, both are 27 now.He is a guy, from a fantasy baseball perspective, I had a lot of hope for a couple years back. Doesn't mean he can't. He is still in his prime. Outside shot at a 20/20 season.
Yeah, I like Grisham quite a lot too. He just turned 27 last month. Maybe they can unlock a little more of that potential. He is a guy, from a fantasy baseball perspective, I had a lot of hope for a couple years back. He just hasn't built on what looked like his early promise.

I think the simplest summary is that during the course of a drunken night, he had an opportunity to stop the date rape of a 17 year-old and didn't.Per the thread on the main board, Verdugo is a terrible baserunner. He'll fit right in!
Something I haven't fully investigated, but was curious if any of the Sox denizens reading this thread can answer: What was the domestic violence incident with Verdugo? Is he filling the Yankees player I have to vaguely root for despite having a DV incident in his past? Replacing German?
Think he’s still the utility guy, he can play everywhere, infield and outfield. I wrote down a roster and lineups, but waiting for the deal to finalize first.Really is a big revamp of the OF in two days.4
I wonder what this means for Cabrera.
Oh, good. So I don't have to hate him?I think the simplest summary is that during the course of a drunken night, he had an opportunity to stop the date rape of a 17 year-old and didn't.

Well, he didn't do the sexual assault, but was probably the one who filmed the victim getting beaten shortly beforehand and posted it to Snapchat, per Tito's son. Here's the thread from shortly after the Mookie trade, lots of quotes and parsing thereof. Up to you on the hating him or not. I did and do.Oh, good. So I don't have to hate him?
