I wish they had gone 3-9 so that Daz would have been fired instead of going 7-6 with a meaningless bowl win that provides some sort of superficial legitimacy to the program, but here we are. Landry's back, which is good news.
I saw the two DL guys they got the other day. One guy has no offers (including FCS) except the BC offer, and the other guy has a few looks but nothing earth shattering. Up until then, they had no DL guys in the class. Looks like Pasqualoni recruited them. They may be major diamonds in the rough or they are just filling slots at this point. Doesn't look very encouraging but then again, who knows if these kids will be great or be busts. Charlie the Tuna used to have Top 10 recruiting classes at ND and his teams were at best mediocre. Its all about the ability to coach them up. Don;t know if they have that kind of staff. So far, there is a major ceiling on this program as to the level of talent and their development. The defensive side of the ball appears to be able to step up under Daz but the offense is seriously lacking. But this will be the second year in a row of a bad overall recruiting class. Time will tell. Tomorrow should be interesting.BC judged to have second worst recruiting class in ACC, by ESPN, only ahead of Wake.
Top recruit is AJ Dillon the 38th ranked RB. Whatever happened to OL-U?
You don't know if BC has the staff to coach up 2 star kids...?I saw the two DL guys they got the other day. I...I don't think I can do another year of this...Hey, it's a young team with a lot of inexperience at a lot of different positions.
Maybe our blind squirrels are due to find a nut? Daz and Christian might want to consider renting.Bates is out. Problem is the same people that hired him will hire his successor.

Ditto....Who cares if he leaves for greener pastures? It means we're in a better position than we were before. We'll never be a destination gig. I've never understood that chicken little mentality of BC fans.
Oh I agree 100%, hence my reference to Jags. Yes, he was angling for an NFL job or whatever but to get there he had to make BC successful and he did (and became the best BC football coach of the last 10 years in the process, not that that's saying much).Who cares if he leaves for greener pastures? I also think the group tailgates did too but those didn't work out so well.Yeah Kenny, I think Brighton parking was the only thing to come out of the town halls
Dave, can you elaborate on that?I also think the group tailgates did too but those didn't work out so well.
Bates tried to add areas in which folks could pay a fee and gain admission to a tent where food and alcohol were served. It was an alternative venue for those without tailgating spots. I think they mispriced them and the interest was minimal.Dave, can you elaborate on that?
The Boston College Athletics Department is expanding beer and wine sales at Alumni Stadium as part of a pilot program during the 2017 football season.
Beer and wine will now be available for purchase at select concessions locations within Alumni Stadium during football games, beginning with the Eagles' home opener against Wake Forest on Saturday, Sept. 9.
"We're pleased to offer this expanded service to our fans," William V. Campbell Director of Athletics Martin Jarmond said. "We believe this opportunity will enhance our game-day experience, and be a welcomed amenity for our guests."
Beer and wine have been available for purchase in Alumni Stadium's premium seating areas during previous seasons, but this new initiative will expand sales within the stadium. Boston College joins approximately one-third of FBS college football programs in offering expanded alcoholic-beverage service throughout their home venues.
For some reason I can't get the thought out of my head of the Simpsons Pretzel Wagon episode where Whitey Ford gets pelted by pretzels. What I'm trying to say is I hope this gets us one step closer to the fans turning on Daz and drunkenly pelting him with pretzels.
Pretty dull game so I dozed off a couple times. The defense wasn't that bad, they dominated much of the game with a couple big plays allowed. Northern Illinois looked like a below average MAC squad again. They had very little passing game.I didn't see the game and a win is a win. Giving up 160+ rushing yards to Northern Illinois and no sacks is not a good omen. As I said I didn't see it so I can't really judge.
Thanks, BigMike. I hope when you say White looking good at WR means BC also has a QB that can throw a forward pass competently. Which is be a nice change of pace for a BC team lately.Pretty dull game so I dozed off a couple times. The defense wasn't that bad, they dominated much of the game with a couple big plays allowed. BC definitely played with more pace, and Kobay White looked good at WR. BC running game was shit.
Saw Hilliman's stats. AJ Dillon should start getting more burn going forward.Pretty dull game so I dozed off a couple times. Yes, although I'd say White made a few excellent plays on balls that could be described as not great throwsThanks, BigMike. I hope when you say White looking good at WR means BC also has a QB that can throw a forward pass competently. Which is be a nice change of pace for a BC team lately.
I will say this for Hilliman his two longest runs were both called back for holding calls. I thought the Redshirt Freshman QB looked good. Not Ryan good but good like he will continue to improve and could be really something in 10 starts. He had the athleticism to get out of trouble and nice touch on deep balls. I think you guys are really going to enjoy the ride with him.Hilliman is awful. Looks the part but is so tentative and slow. Dillon and others absolutely need more run.
He definitely looked promising. He'll take his lumps in a Daz offense this year but could become a really good player under someone with more than half a brain. The OL still looks pretty crappy to me.I will say this for Hilliman his two longest runs were both called back for holding calls. I thought the Redshirt Freshman QB looked good. Thanks, Only allowing 8 sacks is like the Marino era Dolphins. Not sacking NIU isn't that big of a deal, as they led the country last year in fewest sacks allowed with 8, plus they double teamed Landry all night.
