I'm also pursuing LeBron for my rec league team.Woj mentioned PG and LBJ being pursued by LA after this trade went down.
That only matters if LeBron wants to play for my team.

I'm guessing you guys aren't coached by Brad Stevens either - Lebron's favorite coach.I'm also pursuing LeBron for my rec league team.

I like this deal for the Nets too. I think Russell's a good guy to take a chance on.I like this for the Nets. Russell could be good; he's inconsistent but has shown flashes, and has a good feel for the game. Turning Lopez into a high-ish upside guy, and getting an extra first for taking back Mozgov is a nice pull for a team that's desperate for picks and young assets.
No way. The Nets just traded their best player for one who is a) unlikely to be as good in 2017-18 as Lopez was this year, and b) is somewhat redundant with their 2nd best player. The Suns and Magic will be worse next year if there aren't significant trades.
Wade wants to get $24M, he doesn't care if Butler gets traded as long as he gets paid.I really feel like this is a bad day for the Celtics.
Wade picked up his option, which indicates Butler won't be traded. Wade doesn't want to play for a rebuilding team so he must think Butler is staying.
Nets got better, and have a better chance of getting in the playoffs. That lowers the value of their pick next year.
Lakers cleared a bunch of cap space so even if the Cs trade for him he is now more likely to leave for LA.
Gasol opted out to take a lower contract, opening up space for Chris Paul. That means the Clippers are more likely to be in the lottery, meaning the Celtics are not going to get a pick from them.
I hope Danny has something creative in the works because this sucks.
One of the first things that came out that led to the LAL rumor was that LeBron's wife would like the family to live in LA year round. They need to do a lot of work to make it attractive to LeBron, but George has to start him thinking about it.I'm also pursuing LeBron for my rec league team.
That only matters if LeBron wants to play for my team.
You honestly don't think that if George goes there that it wouldn't look attractive to him? Ball and Ingram surrounding those two is a start of a very good team.I'm also pursuing LeBron for my rec league team.

On the other hand, we know LeBron has a close relationship with new Clippers exec Jerry West, and with Chris Paul. A little LA v. LA battle would be funYou honestly don't think that if George goes there that it wouldn't look attractive to him? Ball and Ingram surrounding those two is a start of a very good team.
Yep. There's going to be a market for LeBron if he chooses to leave. It's too bad he couldn't be a FA this year as we all know his affinity for Brad Stevens. On the other hand, we know LeBron has a close relationship with new Clippers exec Jerry West, and with Chris Paul. I think Lebron can figure out how to make it work with someone with Ball's ball skills. Lonzo is sort of the anti-Kyrie. Ingram has one more year to show some development.LA can pursue him but LBJ is going to want proven stars on his team. George is one, and then...? He's not going to spend ages 34 on hoping that Ball and Ingram develop quickly. Hell, the Timberwolves might be more ready than LA to compete a year from now...
So the Lakers want LeBron to come play for them? So do 29 other teams.Woj mentioned PG and LBJ being pursued by LA after this trade went down.
My comment was to the poster who wanted to know where the LBJ to LA rumor started. So the Lakers want LeBron to come play for them? So do 29 other teams.
You think LeBron, at age 33 will ditch Cleveland, and deal with all of the shit associated with that, for the "start of a pretty good team." He leaves if he can beat Golden State somewhere. He and Paul George, as nice a pairing as they are, don't beat Golden State with Lonzo Ball and Ingram as their three and four. Who guards Curry? Thompson? Who rebounds? Hell, who even makes open shots? Ingram nor Ball has proven they can do so.You honestly don't think that if George goes there that it wouldn't look attractive to him? You missed all the comments earlier, Gilbert is a psycho who is trying to edge LeBron out of town. You think LeBron, at age 33 will ditch Cleveland, and deal with all of the shit associated with that, for the "start of a pretty good team." If, on the other hand, Ball/Ingram are moved for guys that help them beat GS now, maybe I see it. But even with George aren't there like 5 teams that would give him a better shot of beating GS than a stripped down, young Lakers team?
I do, he'll do what he did going to CLE which just had Kyrie and a #1 pick, he'll push the GM to build for now by moving Ball and/or Ingram, he'll talk a bunch of good vets to come for cheap, etc. I also think it's quite possible that both he and his wife want to be in LA for a variety of non-basketball reasons, and if he doesn't see CLE winning he's not putting up with Gilbert (who he hates). I don't think he'll get all that much hate from CLE fans. He won the city's first title in decades, most of the fanbase will respect that. You think LeBron, at age 33 will ditch Cleveland, and deal with all of the shit associated with that, for the "start of a pretty good team." The ridiculous Luol Deng contract plus Brandon Ingram is not netting LA Butler. At this point the people of Cleveland may not be mad at him if he leaves again... Gilbert is crazy.
Deng + Ingram could possibly LA Jimmy Butler.
How would that fit?
Ball
Butler
PG13
Lebron
Lopez
I don't know if I ever see Lebron signing a 4 year contract.
Well it is a very good core on the surface and can get better if yes you move one of the young guys for something that fits better. They'll move Lopez at the deadline if he's healthy for picks. You know that they'll get 3 and D guys to surround him and PG.You think LeBron, at age 33 will ditch Cleveland, and deal with all of the shit associated with that, for the "start of a pretty good team." Wasn't part of his Comic Sans Serif rant that he would never allow letting a star like LeBron to ever do something like that to Cleveland again? At this point the people of Cleveland may not be mad at him if he leaves again... Gilbert is crazy.
yes he does.Does Lebron have a no trade clause? This could get nasty...
It's not really that good on the surface if you're trying to compete now.Well it is a very good core on the surface and can get better if yes you move one of the young guys for something that fits better. That was about moving Mozgov. It's not really that good on the surface if you're trying to compete now.
And while it's easy enough to say Ball/Ingram will be moved for vets, it's a lot harder to actually move them. I mean, what'd DeAngelo Russell just net?
Ball hasn't even played a game yet. How can we have any idea what he could fetch in a year? It's not really that good on the surface if you're trying to compete now.

The Bulls were rebuffed on an offer to the Celtics for the third pick straight-up, but bringing the Cavaliers to the table could increase the quality of offers for Butler, who would be eligible for a deal in the $40 million range annually if he makes another All-NBA team next season.
It's floating around in one of the threads.Anyone see this report out from CBS? Celts turned down a Butler-for-#3 swap, straight up? Very interesting and unexpected if true:
I saw that too. But as I and several others have pointed out, the Celtics can't trade for Butler and still have cap space for Hayward or Griffin unless they relinquish Crowder and Bradley (or IT). It could never have been Butler for #3 by itself. Doesn't work.Anyone see this report out from CBS? Celts turned down a Butler-for-#3 swap, straight up? Very interesting and unexpected if true:
Because he knows LeBron is going to LA in a year? Guessing we'll have a lot of activity and rumors but Celtics will probably just keep Tatum/Jackson and hopefully sign Hayward.
That is a pretty clear signal LeBron is outta there. The Lakers clearing the cap space then this on its heels.
If Ainge plays it right, C's are top dogs in the East for years to come. That is a pretty clear signal LeBron is outta there. The Lakers clearing the cap space then this on its heels.
That's all well and good but I think Cleveland still does a deal even without assurances that he'd commit to them long term.
