Pxer said:This was probably my favorite part of the card, a quote from Conor McGregor:
"So January 18th, I feel I will stop Dennis Siver inside two minutes. I've ran through some scenarios, I cannot see him escaping the first two minutes. He is a seasoned veteran, he is a kickboxing expert, a taekwondo expert, he is my most experienced competitor that I will ever have faced. But I feel that under two minutes it will take me to dispatch him, and again it will make way for the football stadium in Ireland."
The dude is hilarious. Aldo will break him, though, right? ....RIGHT?!

Agreed, I think Jacare is the guy who could take the belt off WeidmanInfield Infidel said:Super bummed that Ronaldo Jacare Souza (pneumonia) is out of his fight with Yoel Romero from UFC 184 in Feb. Was really looking forward to that one.
Yeah, I didn't agree with that decision at all.Infield Infidel said:I think Bendo took that one. He has a much more versatile arsenal than Cowboy. Fun fight to watch either way.
edit- they gave it to Cerrone 29-28 UD. I'm a little surprised since Bendo delivered more damage in rounds 2 and 3, but Cerrone had a takedown in round 2, I guess that swayed it.

Good. Why should McGregor have the benefit of a title fight at home as a challenger? If he wants a fight in Ireland he should grab the belt first.mikeford said:Aldo/McGregor to take place May 23rd in LAS VEGAS
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
When boxing starts including the threat of kicks and takedowns you let us know. A lot easier to maintain form when you know where strikes are coming from.Marciano490 said:This is why I still can't take the UFC seriously. It's amateur shit to look straight down when you're ducking under punches. Gufstafsson gets in a little bit of trouble, bends at the waist, looks straight down, catches an uppercut and it's game over.
Seriously, you'd see better striking at a regional Gold Gloves.
Marciano490 said:Cool. Because bending at the waist and looking straight down would be effective against knees and kicks, too.
These guys are great athletes, and I respect the sport, and I can't say they're jacks of all trades and masters of none, because some are great wrestlers or great at judo or jiu jitsu, but it's just sloppy watching almost all fighters strike outside of Diaz and a select few others.
What part of the fight are you talking about. What is the time? Is it after Rumble lands the overhand right just after the eye poke?Marciano490 said:If anyone here has any fighting experience and would like to explain why bending at the waist with your head facing straight down makes sense in the UFC I'm all ears, but the whole "you're just a boxer, they kick" counter is unavailing."
And this is a reason to not take the sport seriously? This is the same reason I don't take the imperfect boxing argument seriously. It's just one of many useful disciplines. And I feel similarly about other disciplines too.Marciano490 said:Like I said, I respect these guys. I trained with these guys. They're great athletes. But, it's impossible to find time to train every discipline, and most of these guys don't have great striking defense.
Marciano490 said:I'll rewatch the fight and get you the exact time and sequence. But, yeah, if the number one contender gets rocked and starts flailing around like a rank amateur it makes me take the sport less seriously. If the best QBs looked like Geno Smith every time they faced a four man rush and scrambled aimlessly, threw a pick or turtled wouldn't it take some luster off NFL games?
Marciano490 said:What do you mean by best fighters? If Floyd fought the UFC champ in his division tomorrow obviously the UFC champ wins. If Floyd trained mma I think he could be champ there.
