Oh, how cool would it be to see a game with the Eiffel Tower in the background and everyone in the seats wearing berets and eating baguettes!View: https://twitter.com/timbhealey/status/1502079826236223489?s=21

Fewer Red Sox and Rays games? Music to my ears.I can't believe this, more balanced schedules are actually coming?

Unless they have some as well.So this bumps up the Jays' expected win total...

I agree, this rule change likely means top prospects will rarely get called up mid-season. They will either get called up to start the year and then sent down if they aren't ready, or held out to the start of next season. It may be more of the latter, in order to both save service time and hunt draft picks. He’s expected mid-2022, and guys have won ROY by having great partial seasons. If he does that, Sox lose a year of service time. It’s unlikely, but something that they have to think about. I’m more wondering if the keep him down longer, not really if they call him up for opening day (although if he’s ready for that I’d be psyched)
Quiet you, or I'll send SIL2 to your place to sing her stirring rendition of "Wind Beneath My Wings"No need to say it out loud. He already knows.
For some reason, 1973 for the DH is burned into my mind. And I remember it well.JFC, I'm old
Uh, what about Sale?Likelihood of a JDM trade just shot way up.
It may just be the Yankees stench, but I loathe Michael Kay.
I think the fact that he throws just once every five days buys the team more time to decide what to do than with a lineup regular like JD. But it's something they would need to address with a potential playoff matchup north of the border, or even just huge divisional games during a playoff race (I don't think this is a departure from last year regarding Canadian games and the un-vaxxed-- there were just less of them with the Dunedin split).Uh, what about Sale?
He is bad but A-Rod is a hundred times worse. It may just be the Yankees stench, but I loathe Michael Kay.
Yeah, but Rodriquez just sucks in general... I think it's the fact that I listened to Kay root for the Yankees on the radio so many years while the Sox weren't good. So my dislike hasn't as much to do with his actual broadcasting... If he was the Twins guy I heard every few years he wouldn't stand out.He is bad but A-Rod is a hundred times worse.
That is not hyperbole.
I'm inclined to agree except that the 2021 Red Sox / Yankees wild card game was the loudest I've ever heard Fenway. It was unbelievable. No more one game wild card round is a big improvement.
I am sure there are at least 5 players on each that are unvaxxed. It's gonna be interesting.I think the fact that he throws just once every five days buys the team more time to decide what to do than with a lineup regular like JD. But it's something they would need to address with a potential playoff matchup north of the border, or even just huge divisional games during a playoff race (I don't think this is a departure from last year regarding Canadian games and the un-vaxxed-- there were just less of them with the Dunedin split).
If he gets off to a hot start, and is still un-vaxxed, they could have a market for him. Or they hope they get home field can throw him in game one or two and potential games when the series shifts back to Boston. Neither is a good option. Sucks that there's a contingency refusing to get vaxxed in all walks of life.
A.Rod was actually decent in studio. On the broadcast he's cringe worthy. Also, it sounds like he's constantly chewing starbursts. He is bad but A-Rod is a hundred times worse.
That is not hyperbole.
Some of them will be NL DHsI won't miss the pitchers hitting, but I will miss random guys that become career pinch-hitters for a cool million/year. Or better yet, guys like Matt Stairs (Matt Stairs!) who stay relevant several years into their 40s hanging on as a PH.
Do you think it would have been quieter if it was game 1 of a 3 game series? I doubt it.I'm inclined to agree except that the 2021 Red Sox / Yankees wild card game was the loudest I've ever heard Fenway. It was unbelievable.
Players did a shit job negotiating that ROY runner up money.Stark with breakdown on pre-arb pool. Includes using bWAR...

One and done absolutely mattered. Had this been Game 3 of that 3 game series, maybe it would rival it but objectively the only comparison was the clincher in 2013. I wasn't there in person for the 2013 clincher but that was the comparison in the paper.Do you think it would have been quieter if it was game 1 of a 3 game series? I doubt it.
I'm hoping they get eliminated in the first round. It may just be the Yankees stench, but I loathe Michael Kay.
Central FL has been unseasonably hot. We’ve had a long streak of days well north of 85 degrees. The neighborhood pool was warm enough to swim in in late February. If anyone here is going to games, hope you like sweating. Are they going to add on spring training games onto the end of the current games not yet cancelled?
On a similar note, it’s 87/88 today and tomorrow in Fort Myers. Playing/watching in April, oof.
There may be a couple of zeroes missing. Or MLB said you didn't win so screw you.Players did a shit job negotiating that ROY runner up money.
Point taken, but it is still a slightly different skill set. That one potential AB every 2 days is a mindf*ck. They are not able to forget their struggles in the field, but at least DHs can rely on their 3 ABs minimum every day. Some of them will be NL DHs
3rd place is you're fired.Players did a shit job negotiating that ROY runner up money.
You’ll always have this:Am I the only one kinda upset at the end of pitchers batting?
They did well negotiating second place up from a set of steak knives.3rd place is you're fired.
Yes, but now we have confirmation that ESPN gets two playoff series, so anyone wanting to watch that series has to listen to them. The Michael Kay/A-Rod broadcasting team is ESPN's secondary team all year, they announced this a few months ago.
Answer to the trivia question: Name the only player in baseball history to amass 500 hits with four different teams.Rusty staub....
No the problem was that his physical showed an elbow issue. https://www.mlb.com/news/kumar-rocker-mets-deal-affected-by-physicalweird to call it the rocker rule when the whole problem was that he didn’t have a physical, no?
I'm going to guess:I'll take a stab at what a more balanced schedule looks like:
12 each vs divisonal opponents = 48
6 each vs non divisional AL teams = 60
3 each of 10 of the NL non divisional = 30
6 vs two of the NL East = 12
4 vs 3 of the the other NL East teams = 12
I may have been mostly drunk, but IIRC A-Rod was good/very good his first season in the booth - with Jessica Mendoza I think. He is bad but A-Rod is a hundred times worse.
That is not hyperbole.
I've always thought he was one of those good in the studio, bad in the booth guys. Different skill sets.I may have been mostly drunk, but IIRC A-Rod was good/very good his first season in the booth - with Jessica Mendoza I think.
