They are a good little FCS team. Nice scheme, obviously very well coached. But physically they are very much overmatched. It is very similar to the Army game last year

BigSoxFan said:Very true. Did anyone really expect Daz to be a good game coach? There was very little evidence of this.
BigSoxFan said:This is a 2-3 win team again. All because little Napoleon couldn't just swallow his pride and let Jags leave.
Clears Cleaver said:Daz is a recruiter. He's never been a good game coach. He did get aaron henandez out of bristol and had his high school teams doing PEDs, so he's a "win at all costs" kind of guy
How are you guys liking the Don Brown experience? He will blitz and play 9+ near te line of scrimmage a lot, especially if he has decent CBs like he had at Uconn last year. expect to give up a lot of WTF big plays and make a lot of tackles/sacks for losses all season. It can be really fun to watch, but when offenses adjust, you'll see a lot of crossing patterns and misdirection.
This teams decline started with Jags. Recruiting was already in a tailspin before he leftBigSoxFan said:This is a 2-3 win team again. All because little Napoleon couldn't just swallow his pride and let Jags leave.

How can you complain about Don Brown? Don Brown's defense at UConn last year was the best defense UConn will EVER have. It was amazing.
Don Brown is not the problem here. This BC team has a massive O-line and is picking up 2 yards per carry against a 1-AA team.

I'm not complaining, jsut stating facts. he had six NFL players on his defense including the two CBs. but, I watched every game and I can tell you they get burned by big plays all the time becasue he gets too aggressive. but, they put a lot of pressure on the QB and it can be fun. when teams adjust to the pressure, his defnese got beat repeatedly by crossing patterns behind the LBs (who play so close to the line) and going wide outside the 8-9 guys in the box. your CBs and S had better be good tacklers in his schemes.
I've watched about 10 snaps of this game and he only had that heavy pressure a couple times. Villanova a passing team? I have no idea. Seemed the QB just runs around a lot
berniecarbo1 said:285 passing yards. 128 rushing I believe. Shut out Villanova in the last 3 quarters.
FWIW in Spaz's 4 years he had only 2 wins when behind at the half. Dazz already had half as many. Next Friday night will be a nice test to see where this team is
Most likely because it is a home game for BC. I would think it is a pick 'em game for the most part. This a game between 2 cellar dwellers who both are trying to rebuild. Friday night, at home, no travel for BC whereas Wake is travelling on an odd practice week...may account for the BC favorite role.Captaincoop said:I'm surprised to see the Eagles favored tomorrow night. How bad can Wake Forest be?
That comparison rings true to me, and I'm glad the shoe is finally on the other foot in the rivalry with USC. However, even though Tom O'Brien is not a popular figure at Boston College, his teams were miles ahead of the version that will enter the Coliseum on Saturday.berniecarbo1 said:Kind of reeminds me of those ND teams that BC best for 7 or 8 striught years. On paper, they were miles ahead of the Eagles. But they could never put it together and had yesar after year of mediocre teams. This is winnable but things have to fall right. It will be hot this week, dry heat. That is one thing that USC has going for it in that it is a home game, BC travels 3000 miles, and the possibility of wearing down due toth weather is there. It is a noon start local time so they will be playing in the heat of the day. We'lll see.
maybe, but we'll never know or have to find out. But lets not get too far ahead of ourselves. He never had a problem beating overmatched FCS opponents. The so mighty Nova got beat by Fordham and the immortal Michael Neibrich this week.doldmoose34 said:If he who desk not be named part 2 were still on the sidelines we'd be 0-2 right now

will be interesting to see this week. USC is not very good especially at the most important position

Look, I know I've been totally ridiculous about this but honestly they have a legitimate chance at this. They will pressure USC on defense and watch for a ton of play action on offense.
As Domer says the NCAA sanctions are really settling in. I know Villanova sucks and Wake is weak but SC beat a very shaky Hawaii team and lost to a bad Wazoo team. Hell they rushed for less than 60 yards. Donny Brown will set up a very aggressive D. They have nothing to lose. They are 15 point under dogs at last look
It lines up good for them. They have an extra day to practice, they fly out here to LA Wednesday night. They practice at noontime on Thursday and Friday to get used to the weather and time change.
If they lose I will be the first to apologize to all of you for going on and on about this game. But look at all the upsides if they actually win this thing. And if they do win, you heard it here first!!
Go Eagles.
Respectability nationally, recruiting and it gives you a legitimate chance to have a winning schedule. Given where they were, I think those are some pretty good takeaways.teddykgb said:
What exactly are the upsides if they win this thing? A 6-6 team becomes a 7-5 team? You're basically saying we're going to beat USC because they're not that good and poorly coached. It doesn't mean we're going to tear through our ACC schedule if USC is a paper tiger.
I mean, I hope BC finds a way to win it, it'd be momentarily awesome, but I don't think it would really change this team much. Which is OK. We've won these early games that would have been a problem the last few years. The program looks and feels much better already, I'll take these baby steps. But a win against USC wouldn't fundamentally change much, in my opinion.
