I think the main reason the Celtics are in on the Dragic talks is so that the Suns can go to other teams and say 'hey, look at all the picks the Celtics are willing to give us!' I'd be pretty surprised if Boston is anything other than bargaining fodder.

What exactly are Sanders' "personal" issues? Drugs?

Nobody's really clear on that. There were some failed drug tests, some hinting that basketball wasn't his passion, but nothing's clear beyond that.

Based on what I've read, I suspect it's based on his upbringing. He grew up in severe poverty, saw his mother abused frequently, and spent many years basically homeless. He's talked at length about leaving basketball to run a battered women's shelter and focus on his art. But for the most part, there isn't much out there but speculation.

What blows my mind is that according to the ESPN stories, Dragic's top two locations are the Lakers and Knicks. I know marketability is really important to these guys, but it is crazy to see what lengths players are willing to go to reach those places. Same thing with Kevin Love and how everyone seems to think he will bolt to the Lakers this summer. Do you think anyone (besides Nick Young) actually enjoys playing for the Lakers?

Wishcasting: the Larry Sanders Show was apparently tight with Bogut in Milwaukee. Sanders called Bogut his mentor.

"This game meant a lot. I was pretty excited," Sanders said after his six-point, nine-rebound, three-block outing. "He was my mentor when I first got (to Milwaukee) [… ] I don’t think about being in his footsteps. The fans appreciate him. I know I appreciate him."

Dangit, get this dude back under the wing of his old "mentor" (and warm welcoming embrace of Kerr, Gentry, Curry et al.) ASAP! Ric Bucher seems to think that Sanders is out for the year dealing with personal issues, which likely means he’s ready to play at a high level for the Warriors starting this Friday. ;-P

Seriously, if the Warriors need anything, a super-athletic 26-year old shot blocking monster with a 7'6" wingspan and a top-5-NBA defensive RAPM is pretty high on the list. You almost couldn't hand-pick a better backup / insurance policy for his old mentor. And now he's just out there waiting to be snatched up? I know Bob Myers and co. place a really high premium on character, but they really need to be doing some serious due diligence on Sanders.

In other words, "Dear NY, LA, and Miami, we don't have to trade him to you for nothing. We swear."
Other than LA removing the protection from the pick they already owe that is a list of teams with zero trade assets.

Thats cute and all Goran but well see if he lands here and turns down the 5th year.

Also you could likely recoup any asset level you give up in a S and T anyways

I'd love to see a behind the scenes look at the Celtics front office the tonight and tomorrow. They have so many different types of deals they can try to pull off.

1. Trying to trade for an established young player(Dragic, Lawson)
2. Trying to move a veteran player(Bass, Thornton)
3. Acting as a third team in a deal to enable two other teams to make a trade and grabbing a small asset.
4. Using their trade exceptions before they likely lose them this summer to take a salary from a team over the tax so they can get under and grab an asset(NY-Bargnani, OKC Perkins, Toronto-Fields or Hayes)

Maybe even trying to do combos of any of those kind of deals.

Can spin in a lot of different directions, and could match up with more than half the league on a deal of some kind.

With all those options, still wouldn't surprise me if not much happens. Wish all other teams GMs were as active as Ainge, tough to get some of these guys to pull the trigger.

The Brooklyn Nets and Oklahoma City are in serious talks on a deal for Brook Lopez – with a key component centering on the Nets’ ability to persuade Thunder guard Reggie Jackson to make a long-term commitment to the franchise, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
The Nets and Thunder are discussing a deal that would include center Kendrick Perkins, forward Perry Jones and Jackson joining the Nets, but Brooklyn is working to gauge the enthusiasm of Jackson about coming to Brooklyn, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Wow, great move for Portland.

And yay trades!!!
Agree about trades being good. That said, while Barton was no great shakes the Blazers are giving up a some depth for Afflalo, I am not sure he is that much of an incremental gain for them. To be clear, he has value but he isn't the kind of player that will get them over the hump.

And while we are at it, is Lopez a big upgrade for OKC?

Nets figure to have quite the unbalanced roster next year; $30mil+ for two point guards and JJ eating up most of the rest of the cap. Plumlee as the only big. Maybe adding Thad Young as the 4. DWill destroys the locker room.

With an owner who is looking to shed the teams books and sell the team.

This could not have aligned with the stars any more perfectly so far.

And Yes Point Danny!!

Miami is going to become a terror of a 7/8 seed for the East. Going to be very interested to hear what Detroit is giving that OKC that that package was worth more than Brook Lopez.

Greg Munroe?

Nets are continuing to get screwed here...not being able to clear off the bad contracts

Phoenix loved Shabazz NApier, fwiw. but they also just got Brandon Knight from Milwaukee, so maybe not

the Kanter-Reggie Jackson deal is three team between OKC, Detroit and Utah.
OKC getting Kyle singler and Kanter
Utah getting kedrick perkins
Det getting JAckson
more players and maybe teams involved

I really don't understand this from Milwakee's point of view.  Knight has been a lot better than MCW.
Edit: I guess the "potential" of Ennis helps, but this is a team in the middle of the playoffs, why make this move?

Wow. Things just went crazy.

Brandon Knight's probably an upgrade of Dragic at this point and definitely works better off the ball next to Bledsoe than Thomas does.

Really intense final minutes there.

Oklahoma City has traded Reggie Jackson to Detroit, league source tells Yahoo Sports.

This might be even better than giving the Nets an unbalanced roster. Much more likely now that they'll just let the current roster rot off the books for the eventual sale. No adding long term big money contracts (which Jackson would have been) whether or not Thad/Brook pick up their options.

Couple trades for HOU.
Got Prigioni from NYK for 2 seconds
Got KJ McDaniels from PHI for Isaiah Canaan and a second round pick

So instead of getting Thomas, the Sixers are getting the Lakers protected 1st from Phoenix and...that might be it?

From a talent standpoint that is a terrible return for McDaniels.  All goes back to trying to get too cute with his rookie deal.

For Isaiah Thomas, Boston will send Marcus Thornton and a 2016 first-round pick via Cleveland to Phoenix, league source tells Yahoo Sports.

I actually kinda like both of those guys, particularly Jerekbo. Hate to say it, but I think the Celtics are gonna make the playoffs.
Who are they knocking out? Miami just got a ton better after getting Dragic for nothing.  Charlotte, Brooklyn, Boston, Detroit are all gonna be in a dogfight for that last spot with most of those teams upgrading today.

I mean, if Utah traded Enes Kanter for Kendrick Perkins and nothing else then something is seriously wrong in the Jazz front office.  There has to be at least a pick coming back.
