I have a TON of respect for a lot of the posters on this thread. I am not a draft guy, but I enjoy reading SOSH leading up to the draft. The amont of knowledge that many of you have about the draft prospects blows me away.

That said, in a lot of ways draft day(s) bring out the absolute worst that this forum had to offer. Half of the posters love a pick, half hate it. The reality is nobody fucking knows.

Some of you need to take a break and step away from the keyboards for a bit. I can understand preferring one player over another, but honestly if your binky who the pats didn't pick turns out to be a great player it is shit luck more than anything else.

People need to fucking relax. Eventually Brady will be gone. Planning for that eventuality is not a bad thing.

RT @NFL_RealUpdates: The #Patriots would've drafted QB Blake Bortles in the first round had he fall to them there, per @RapSheet

A bigger disaster was possible?

This is just way, way too conservative. The QB is everything, but you don't need two backups behind the GOAT when he's nearing the finish line and needs all the help he can get. I think Brady probably hates the pick, so I should too.

Bledsoe today, Bledsoe tomorrow, Bledsoe forever!

Invoking Bledsoe is actually an interesting angle, considering how Brady came to power became a starter.

In terms of Mallett being a 'must trade' because he's the third QB remember Brady spent a year as the 4th QB (different situation, obviously)

If there's no replacement, then he is more valuable. This is Economics 101.

So they should have dealt Mallett before having anyone lined up, and if the guy they wants gets drafted they do what?

Can Garrapolo at least take Clay's spot while he waits to be the starting Q? Sheesh

I've only been following the draft on and off, but I always thought the Pats were going to draft a QB this draft - didn't they work out a lot more QBs than they normally do earlier this year? (Not just the JG, but Teddy Bridgewater, JFF, Mettenberger, McCarron, etc.)

HAHAHA.

He did not draft a QB in round 2 to be camp fodder.

Also comical---posters thinking that by ripping picks they are a true fan.

Saying you don't like the pick is fine--arguments like "Wait!!! What about Mallett??" like the Pats don't have a plan is not smart.

I know. I understand that.

But make the argument that BB doesn't know his teams needs 1000 times better than anyone here.

Do you drink? Maybe go make yourself one? Because you're missing jokes and references and points left and right.

So, what you're saying is the Pats should draft Tajh Boyd in the 3rd round to act as the next generation Michael Bishop to motivate Garoppolo to be an elite QB?

With all due respect to Mr. Brady, we're gonna keep fielding a football team after he decides to hang 'em up.

I bet Brady hated the Cassel pick, the O'Connell pick, the Hoyer signing, the Mallet pick and this pick equally. He's a competitor and this is competition.

I'll also bet that Brady gets wicked pissed when Belichick starts leaving a Bledsoe jersey in his locker during training camp. "Hey Wes, do you know who Wally Pipp is?"

Are you saying RedOctober and twibnotes were trolling? Because I don't think they were.

If you meant something else, well, I need a drink.

So tired of this crap. Just shut down the thread or change the name of the thread to "BB ballwasher's club"

BB is amazing, but no one is perfect

How many Super Bowl rings do you have?  I'm not saying the man can't do anything wrong but I'm certainly going to give him the benefit of the doubt on a decision where we really won't know how good or bad it was until 5 years from now.

So, you have no problem with the opportunity cost there? That's my issue. Obviously, time will tell.
No, the reward of hitting on a QB is so high, and the low of not having a QB is so damaging.
Also I think the difference between the best non-QB available there and the best non-QB who will be available in the 3rd is lower than the difference between JG and the QBs who will be there later.

1. I hate the pick because of the position.
2. I don't think Mallett is getting traded.
3. This team can fill holes with UDFAs I guess.

So are you if you think he's the heir apparent.
You seem awfully confident on your opinion of this player. What can you tell us about Garoppollo that would make me think you have a better read on him than the Patriots staff?

I don't like the pick but mostly because I know nothing of this guy. Just checked and the cap savings to cutting Brady in 2017 is $9m--wonder if drafting a QB this year was part of the plan all along?

Of course, that doesn't explain round 2 except: Because Tavon Wilson.

Christ, the way you guys are reacting, it's like the Patriots drafted Aids McHerpes with their second rounder.

At least Aids McHerpes would be more shredded with a little more thickness in the lower body.

Hey, I hope we never find out how good or bad Garrapolo actually is at football. Just like we never found out how good or bad O'Connell was or Hoyer was or Mallet is - and did find out what Matt Cassel was (seems like a miracle they got a 2 for him, given his now proven talent level).

Brady is one hit from done, like everyone in the NFL. Having a viable, paid up insurance policy is the rational thing to do. Just like when they did it with Bledsoe.

My god, I hope BB drafts another QB in the 3rd round and walks up to the podium himself to announce it.

We need to develop some kind of graphic or photoshop depicting the Brady Window.

There are like 28 other teams where he has a better chance of starting or keeping a job if the starter gets hurt and he plays well plus vet QBs cost cap space, even backups.

You could say this about every team in the NFL with almost every backup QB.  It doesnt make Mallett more special to other teams

We should have drafted another pitcher.

And some hitters.

The pick just seems horrible.   Maybe something plays out but so far this draft is terrible for the Pats

Do the Lions have a scouting staff or do they just rely on National and Blesco like Cinci does? Seems like they always pick in line with the pubs.

I think I read that reported yesterday with respect to RB. Man, twitter can be annoying.
