Giving the devil his due -- he was the best coach evah on "Hard Knocks"I have to be honest, I'm looking forward to seeing Rex as an analyst next season. He's a buffoon but he seems like a likable guy and he knows Xs and Os. If he keeps his candor it could be a really great second career for him.

So, what you're saying that they've been very unlucky the past 2 years? The Bills' defense was 4th in the league the year before Rex got there, under Jim Schwartz.
Last year they were 15th, and this morning they're 25th.
Not only does Fisher still have a job, he is getting a three year extension. Funny things happen however I do believe this is Rex's last turn on the NFL HC carousel.I would say both of the Ryans are a position over their heads, meaning Rex should be a defensive coordinator, although Buffalo's defense has sharply declined since his arrival, and Rob should be a positional coach.
Rex has said this is his last stand as a head coach, but I don't think the decision will be his. Hard to seem him getting another head coaching gig in the immediate future, although Jeff Fisher still has a job, so who can tell.
Kind of, but he is also quite good at defensive game planning. So many college coaches suck at the actual coaching aspect of their job. The Sabans are few and far between.Couldn't you imagine Rex in college? I think he could recruit (whether he wants to do the grind is a different question) and I think that environment probably works better with his rah-rah personality...especially since his act wears thin with players (it appears) and in college that isn't really an issue.
Whether the lack of discipline his teams play with will work in college is a serious question, I acknowledge. But he's a very good X and Os DC, and he is comfortable handing off the offense, so I can believe that moreso than having a third shot in NFL.
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Remember how Rex Ryan told his players he would be the "first m-----f----- that goes" if the Buffalo Bills didn't start to win this season?
So much for that.
Let's not mince words: Ryan was not true to his word. The Bills' head coach -- perhaps on his own, perhaps with pressure from management -- found a scapegoat for the Bills' 0-2 start by firing offensive coordinator Greg Roman on Friday.
My first thought, as well.I forget--did the NFL ever pass a rule that coaches can't sign on elsewhere after they get canned? Because I think Roman is a pretty great coach and there's some chance he'd love to spend the next six months working for the Pats and getting a chance to kick Rex's ass twice. (He also coached in the NFC west so he might give you some insight in the remaining games there).
heh -- that is brilliant.Countdown to Rexit: 7 weeks.
His name is Bruce Pearl.Couldn't you imagine Rex in college?

The Ryans have ties to Oklahoma State, where Buddy played and Rob was a DC for a while. I have no clue whether OSU would move on from Mike Gundy, but he hasn't had a great year since 2011, he is 2-9 against Oklahoma in his career, and they just lost to Central Michigan and may be facing a tough season. Getting the Ryans as a package deal might be an interesting possibility for them.Couldn't you imagine Rex in college? OSU is made of money too. Rex could name his price if he was interested. The Ryans have ties to Oklahoma State, where Buddy played and Rob was a DC for a while. Better start sweet calling T. Boone.OSU is made of money too. Rex could name his price if he was interested.
Yeah well I, like, quoted more of it and used the quote function. So yeah.i loved it 8 posts before you did
His last name is the biggest part of his job security.Bigger question is what has Rob ever done?
I tried checking his stats as DC and from what I could gather he has had two top 15 finishes and every other season his defense has been ranked in the 20s, yet he has been a DC for over 10 straight years.
Kraft should put a thousand bucks on this bet, fire BB, and then rehire him 3 weeks later.Rex is +180 to be next coach fired. Belichick is +50,000.
Pretty clear that Ryan kept Roman around as a convenient scapegoat.Roman was known not to have been the biggest Ryan fan, privately telling at least one person after last season that he thought Ryan was a "buffoon" and that being affiliated with him wasn't going to be good for his career. Also, after only a year in Buffalo, Roman was known to have been looking to coach elsewhere after the season, when the Bills led the NFL in rushing, even if that opportunity wasn't a head-coaching job. He was confident Ryan wasn't going to stand in his way.
Those are huge odds. There isn't a 1-in-50,000 chance that he's a Jared from Subway, abuser of women, or peewee Herman? He seems like a weird dude. That could be the best $10 you ever spent.Kraft should put a thousand bucks on this bet, fire BB, and then rehire him 3 weeks later.

It's also not just the odds he's an awful weirdo, but that it comes out before another NFL coach gets fired.+50000 is only 500 to 1, Einstein.

Kudos on the Freaks reference.I thought you were one of us, KFP. ONE OF US.
P.S. also want to send my kudos to the fantastic thread title.
I fault Pegula on this. All's not well in Rexyland.
1) Bills won't be that bad to draft Watson. That'd be Browns, once again. If Rex survives the season, they draft Deshaun Watson first round. Rex buys another year (developing rookie qb) and then hires his long snapper son (another Clemson Tiger) adding another generation of Ryan's to the payroll.
And this gem:"It might be the best team in the league, and maybe this is the exact team we need to play," Ryan said of the Cardinals. "And it's back-to-back weeks, by the way. You got [Cardinals coach] Bruce Arians this week, and you got [Patriots coach Bill] Belichick next week. So it's like, OK, there's a few more easier options than those two, but maybe this is exactly what we need."
"If you're going to pin it on one person being responsible for this 0-2 start, it's on me. I certainly accept it. I'm not happy with it. But I'm doing whatever I can to avoid being 0-3, albeit against arguably one of the best, if not the best, team in the NFL."
Rexy should just shut up about offense at this point. Watkins has been hobbling all year and barely got on the field last week (2 catches & 20 yards).Mike Rodak ESPN Staff Writer
Rex Ryan has stressed he wants new OC Anthony Lynn to get the ball in Sammy Watkins' hands, but Watkins says he isn't necessarily asking for that to happen. In fact, he says No. 2 receiver Robert Woods has been open and needs the ball more often.
That second quote is all kinds of awesome.Rex is using all his manipulative powers in this interview:
