Those are cool numbers @BaseballJones and tell us what we know. Defense wins championships.
But..
Some part of Brady must want his life to be a bit easier. That would mean more weapons/resources allocated to Offense. All the more so now that he is older and "doing it all" or as you put it "Figuring it out" has to be more difficult. This is just human nature. While dispassionately he knows the Best way for the Patriots to Succeed is with a Great D, in his heart of hearts he wants a fun easy offense.
So while I am sure he wants to win Championships, he probably wants to win with offense too. At 42 with family pressure mounting and his health still good, does anyone begrudge him possibly thinking "I wish the Offense was elite and the defense was eh". And knowing its probably not gonna change quickly....does he mull leaving even more seriously.
Finally BB is a friggin savant so far ahead of us its not even funny. Your about (lets face it in the next year or 2) to lose your Frachise GOAT qb. So how do you replace him? You dont/cant. While everyone hand wrings about it ,You develop a kick ass elite Defense moving forward. Instead of spending money on a declining Brady (even if the decline is <5% and he is better then 75% of the other qbs) you spend it on what will be here moving forward and on what has a chance to improve. Sure you patch (Brown>>>>>>>>>Sanu) but at the end of the day you know this is a Defense team now and hope that Brady can hold the offense together for another year or so.
