He's the best. He really represents the best of sports, just pure joy but also competitive fury.

This quote puts things in perspective.

Re: Oreos

“We couldn’t afford them.”

Let that sink in.

Ehh, it's kind of nice that his teammates cared more than he did. Up 15 with a minute to go why not?
yeah, I see that as a positive, that's a young team in for a tough year, it's nice that his teammates wanted to get him the triple double. In many ways the opposite of stat padding.

Jonas Valacinunas is leading the NBA in three point percentage, having made 30 of his 58 attempts (51%) on the season. Last night he went 7-8 from downtown (he made all seven in a row, and all in the first half) as part of a 39-15 ass kicking of the Clippers.

In a contract year no less.
Hmm... I thought as well (thought that was one of the main reasons Memphis made the highly questionable JV-for-Adams swap). But looking at the Pels salaries he seems to be under contract for the next two seasons after this one at a very modest $30.1M pricetag.

Fake edit: Looks they quietly extended him in October. Great deal for them, and even more questionable for Memphis assuming they could have extended him for that amount. Adams is not chopped liver, but JV added to Ja, Bane, JJJ and co. would have been a nightmare to deal with.

I always use spotrac.com and they break up extensions so I often miss players who signed extensions. Could be a steal. He's not going to continue shooting over 50%, but he's building up a sample size over his career. 128/332, .386 now.

Yeah, 51% is small sample theater, but (unlike Adams) he’s always had a great looking stroke from the FT stripe and from 15-20 feet, so stretching it out to a credible 3 ball is a pretty logical progression.

Flipping a guy who was at worst a great pick-and-pop threat from 15-20 ft for a traditional paint-bound C like Adams seems like an especially crazy move for a team whose franchise superstar’s greatest strength is getting into the paint and attacking the rim.

Crazy that the 11-10 C's wouldn't even reach a play in game if the season ended today. (depending on tie breakers anyway). There are 6 teams that are clearly bad and then everyone else. It'll be curious to see how this season plays out. 11 of the 15 teams in the east are over .500. Toronto is 9-12, Indiana 9-14. Then you have Detroit at 4-16 and Orlando at 4-18. Teams 2-11 are 28 games above .500 combined. Teams 3-11, 24. Detroit and Orlando are 26 games below .500.

I'm sure there will be some separation in the east, there almost has to be. Still, I wonder how much of it is driven by the play in game. It could also impact the prices at the deadline.

I'd add "You can tell me you'd rather have Luka Doncic, I'd take Ayton, defense matters!"

is this the best combined record of two teams playing each other at this point in the season?

35-5? Maybe the 24-0 Warriors or 15-0 Rockets had some opponents.

This game is going to be good. Suns at 51.2% from the field , Dubs at 44.5% at half. This is not a '21-22 Boston Celtics game.

Except that Booker is out for the game with a hammy — takes a lot of the drama out of it.

Porter and Poole carrying the Ws; Steph needs to snap out of it...
The Suns have contained SC30. If they can sustain that, they can win without Book. That "if", though, has plagued Warriors opponents for the better part of a decade.

Poole was shooting .286 from 3 after 15 games. With game 21 in progress, he's currently at .349.

26/53 over the last 5+. He's like the JBJ of 3 point shooting. Maybe a bad example because the stretches aren't as long.

Jordan Poole having more points than Curry/Booker combined is a surprise.

Cade with arguably the best game of his young career. 10/13, 5/7, 1/2, 26 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 blocks, 1 steal. He did have 6 TO though.

Definitely his best shooting night, if not his best game.

Suns streak probably ends Friday up north but hell of a run. Monty might back to back coach of the year

After review, league confirms Kevin Porter Jr's 10th rebound last night -- with ~1:00 left to clinch Porter's triple-double -- will instead be credited to Alperen Sengun as a controlled tip. Sengun + teammates were trying to help Porter get the triple-double.

He had a couple real good ones in a row about two weeks ago too. Kid is the real deal. Jaylen for Cade? I kid. I kid.

Montrezl comes off the bench to score 27 in Washington's win. What a heist that Westbrook deal was for the Wizards, who were overdue for some good fortune.

Springfield. I want to see my man in Springfield! Not sure I’ve seen a less appreciated star in this league perform so consistently year after year.
4 AS appearances in 12 years says he'll have a hard time, although given that he might be having a career year his book certainly isn't written yet.

Agreed. I can see him as one of those guys down the road who gets left out. I’m fighting for him though. A lot will depend on longevity for him as he’s never been a top-tier star and has always been a average/below-average defender.

Three wins in a row for the Spurs, who appear to be figuring some things out. They can thank Boston for giving them a jump start.

He's at 18,300 career points so far this season and if he stays healthy should cross the 20,000 threshold next year. He could end up with 22,500 career points, maybe makes 1 or 2 more All-Star teams, plus he was 2x All-NBA. He will have a case that compares favorably to some guys who are in (Mitch Richmond being the bar).

Scottie Barnes last nite in win over Giannis-less Bucks: 13 points on 5-for-9 shooting (3-for-6 from 3-point range), 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, 1 block, 0 turnovers.

What a great pick by Toronto.

If you offer the Thunder back to Seattle, would they pass on it?
Sure they’d take it back since they have SGA and a boatload of picks but I’m getting curious about what Presti’s plan is here. Having all those assets is nice but you need to build a team that guys actually want to go to.

Would NBA FA's want to go to the City of OK, though, regardless?

I didnt realize how basketball "old" he is (32). Can he play another 3 years to rack up some more counting stats?

I saw him play live in hs and looking up his age just made me feel so damn old.
