Did anyone catch why it was not reviewable? I missed that part of the play.
I'm still a bit confused as to why you can't challenge/review that.

It has to be that it wasn't reviewable because it was a foul ball right? Because obviously we've seen catch/no catch reviewed all the time on regular outs, but I don't remember ever seeing one on a foul ball.

Found this, I guess this is why:

  • Catch plays in the outfield: An umpire's decision whether a fielder caught a fly ball or a line drive in flight in the outfield before it hit the ground is reviewable, but fly balls or line drives fielded by a defensive player in the infield is not eligible for review.

I'm sure that's correct, but even that doesn't seem to make much sense.

That’s logical.

Thanks for that.

That's idiotic on so many levels I lost count.

Feels more and more like these arcane rules for what can and cannot be reviewed are very dumb and instead having strict limits on the number of challenges is the better way to go.

Meanwhile, Braves fans will continue to be upset about that call, since the inning continued and led to two runs scoring. Who knows how that AB would have gone or if the rest of the inning would go the same way (if only there were a term for that kind of flawed logical thinking), but surely many fans will think "it coulda been THREE runs if..."

And then they would start doing a fake Native American chant and doing a tomahawk chop, and my sympathy for them and lingering affection for the Boston Braves history would dissipate once again.

The only reason Rowdy Tellez isn't batting 1.000 is because I don't watch most of his at bats. Whenever I watch that dude he always gets a hit, typically a home run.

Just make everything reviewable, if you get one wrong you can't challenge again for the rest of the game, if you keep being right you keep it.

Hopefully, Theo's current role in the MLB is a stepping stone to him becoming the next Commish (of baseball, not a reboot of the 1990's Michael Chiklis vehicle).

This pbp guy calls a nice game, whomever he is.
I beg to differ. Orsillo drives me crazy. He has two speeds … normal play by play and “that was the most exciting, stupendous marvellous thing that has ever happened in the entire history of the universe.! “

It’s like he’s still smarting from the criticism he got for understating Nomo’s no hitter. Excitement?I’ll show you excitement!

When he’s in plan B mode he has nowhere to go as he’s already at 11.

I agree with you. Orsillo isn’t that special and it’s kind of annoying how people treat him like the high school flame that got away and you can’t get over it.

This post-season I've thought he has often adopted the Tom Caron Stentorian Method. Don't like.

Everytime the Braves advance to the post season I root against them for one big reason. That stupid droning chant their miserable fans use constantly. The sooner I stop hearing it the better.

I watched the first inning, had dinner, went out to run some errands and hoped I’d get home to catch the end of the game.

It’s the fifth inning.

I hate that fucking chant. Whoever runs the graphics and sound blast that shit through the stadium all the time along with the drums.

Replacing Orsillo with Dave O'Brien: Energy Vampire was the real problem.

Gotta grab that one, Rowdy.
Part of my issue with Orsillo is that I really don’t like the sound of his voice. It sounds fake and put on .. a very radio announcer voice. I generally don’t get all worked up about what PBP guys say or don’t say. It’s HOW they say it .. their tone and volume rising or lowering with the ebbs and flows of the game. You notice it more with hockey announcers as they have to talk non stop. O’Brien is good at that .. what he actually says is not too important to me.
