Throwing Yoshida and Verdugo straight into the defensive fire with Duran out there, I like it.

Who the hell is Mosqueda!?!?!? Besides a blood sucking annoying and useless disease spreading insect, of course.
Oddanier Mosqueda is a small (5'10) 23 y/o LHP who throws from a 3/4 arm slot. He is a reliever who had a 4.30 ERA (4.05 FIP) over 45 appearances & 58.2 innings for Portland last season. He had 76 strikeouts & a 1.12 WHIP.

Mosqueda is from Venezuela & was originally acquired in 2016 as an IFA for no signing bonus.

Here is his Instagram:

He has a meh fastball which sits around 90, but can get up to 94. The main issue is the control on his fastball which is the big thing making it less likely he develops into a reliable bullpen option. Really good 1 to 7 curveball which he throws regularly. Changeup is too fast (like 84), so not enough differentiation from his fastball. That's the other big area of potential improvement.

Mosqueda re-signed with Boston immediately after last season & was given an invitation to Spring Training. He has been very good against lefties in the minors, so if he could get those couple areas sharper, he could be part of the LHP solution as early as later this season.

This might be the only ST game not on radio. But for those who are out of town or dont have the right orange juice cans and string set-up to get WEEI-AM (for half the games), you can find them on sirius (if you subscribe).

Hey, game threaders. Good to see you again.

I’m looking forward to over-interpreting Yoshida’s first few PAs with you all.

I forgot to tune in! A brief summary of who did the hitting would be so welcome, TIA, ITP.
The NU starter couldn't find the zone, so a Duran double, Devers single, was followed by a Kike walk and a Yoshida sac fly, and then just a ton of walks before an Enmanuel Valdez double.
