Miami (oh, Miami!)
I know you don’t ever plan on good relievers getting shelled but it always looks bad when you pull a starter a little early and give extra chances for a different pitcher who may or may not have it that night.

I don’t blame Cora for this one per se, just how it goes sometimes. It feels worse because the offense was so shit all night then suddenly tied it.
I'd blame the staff for not noting he was flat in the pen and going with another option. Probably not a ton of blame, but still.

Silver linings….

1) We disproved the four runs theorem.

2) We never have to speak of blue buttons ever again.

Right, if that is the case. Although I’m not sure I’ve ever seen that much. And we know pitchers generally aren’t ones to come out and say “I don’t have it.”

No way this is on AC. That is hindsight BS. I liked the call to go to Whitlock. He just didn’t have it tonight

I'd have more empathy for the naysayers if they complained about him coming into the game before he started to pitch
Especially when there is a thread in the main board about how awesome it is to have Whitlock, a multi inning impact pitcher, back from the IL and in the pen.

Well it was mostly a Tale of Two Pens. Nats? Quite decent. Sox not so much. That said, it is beyond time for the O to wake up. For the sake of baby Jesus. And Blasphemer Bergs.

This offense has sucked for a long time now. That’s the issue. Awful approaches at the plate. No power. A fuck ton of week ground balls. That’s the issue.

Have basically seen everyone but Casas spend a month doing nothing but swinging like it’s the 14th inning and everyone wants to go home.

Yep. I wonder if maybe the whole "totally different lineup every single fucking night" is suboptimal.

As someone who didn't see the game, did Whitlock looked cooked or just bad luck? How was the velocity?

2 trips to the injured list for his elbow doesn't exactly give me warm and fuzzy feelings. Maybe low leverage until he proves himself....

Velocity down. Didn’t look great at all.

This is the issue.
Cooled off Duran, cooled off Masa, Ref can’t hit lefties right now. Devers hasn’t ever really ‘clicked’ this year in my opinion. Cold right now too. I’m sure others too…
