I feel bad for Walter. Must be fucking wild to not be able to throw a strike.

Is any of the current AAA pitching staff going to be on the next great Red sox team? Sure is looking like an emphatic no right now (Drohan?)

You talking about Kutter Crawford? He has blown past his career high in IP. Not shocking he is out of gas. He was fine until he hit a wall.
You forget. There's several posters who believe that the "innings wall" is a mythical creation ... like unicorns and political moderates

Maybe Jason Carrabis will be right and Bloom doesn’t make it past November.
That they got all the guys back from the IL and have stunk this bad down the stretch doesn’t look good for Cora, Bloom, or anyone really.

They were 68-60 after routing the Astros on 8/24. Have lost 9 of 13 since the Dodger series.

The $1,000,000 question is whether it’s the program or the guys the front office is picking to participate in it.

The sox have been terrible at developing any home grown pitching going all the way back to the 2005 (Theo)
SP the red sox have drafted and developed (domestic draft not international FA’s)
2005: Buchholz
2006 Masterson
2017: Houck, Crawford

And i think thats pretty much anyone of note.

This isnt a bloom thing. Its pretty clearly an organizational issue given its spanned multiple GM’s

Yeah it's something Bello will have to improve on. But he's so good otherwise that it's ok. I think Houck is what he is, which is a tremendously capable reliever that should be able to give them 90-100 innings of excellent pitching. He's just not cut out to be a starter unless he adds some sort of weapon that he's not yet discovered.
This is what I think, but most important, I hope it's what the Sox think during the off-season.

This can't be stated enough; stop trying to shoehorn pitchers into roles they are not cut out for in an attempt to have a traveling yard sale of a team from a payroll perspective.

Same for Whitlock; he was a great weapon out of the bullpen, put him and Houck back in there, open your wallet and sign some pitching talent.
