HOW ON EARTH DOES THIS DEFENSE ATTORNEY THINK HE CAN GET HERNANDEZ OFF

He won't - but...

1 - he'll get paid a lot.

2 - the TV face time at the trial will get him other clients

deep inside Guido territory
Michael Fee is asking the judge to treat Hernandez like any other client, asks the judge for Hernandez to remain at home due to family situation and lack of flight risk.  Full disclosure of where he has been going.  Willing to submit to any conditions possible to return home.  Clean record, no history of violence, and a weak case.

I will admit, like redsox13, I'm really surprised that he'd be dumb enough to do this and think he could get away with it.  At first I thought at most he was hanging with bad people and got caught up in this after the fact.  Until the Patriots released him I never thought he was the one that actually pulled the trigger.

But damn this is nuts.  Good luck lawyer guy, he's not getting bail.

Yeah, me too. I thought it was a drug deal gone bad with 3rd parties as the shooter(s)....which - in fairness - would normally be more likely than this insanity... Just amazing.

If that's what people were sad about than mea culpa, but the post right after yours shows Peacesign was worried about the Patriots offense.

Do you cry like this over every criminal that kills someone?
Why should  Peacesign NOT be concerned about the Pats offense?  This hugely sucks for the Pats offense.  They let Welker go partially because they had Hernandez for the slot position, and the receiving group was a concern even before this happened.

New flash: Realizing that the murder story is bigger than the Pats offense doesn't mean we have to pretend that we aren't concerned about what this might mean for our football team.

I do feel badly for his kid.  His wife or girl friend or whatever she is knew the kind of guy he was.  She chose this dimwit.  The kid didn't have a choice and his or her young life has been irrevocably alterned for the extreme worse by the idiotic choices her Daddy just made.

I see some idiots on twitter already talking that this is evidence of the Pats "win at all costs" philosophy.  I mean, the Ravens (and the NFL) fucking venerate Ray Lewis, ESPN hires him, and some idiots are shitting on BB for CUTTING Hernandez.

Because obviously weed smoking in college leads to murder.

I always knew it was a gateway drug.

As was mentioned before this is a DA who has grand political aspirations, and this case is a career maker.  Throw that on top of the piles and piles of evidence, I only see one outcome.

Wouldn't it be a good move for the state to get a few million in bail, and let this asshole go kill himself? Free money!

Yes.  Except that decision would have been a 180 from every other one he made leading up to and after the murder.

I guess the judge didn't fall for the "He has a small baby" argument.    "Not a flight risk" with his resources? haha that's funny

 Except that he is stupid.

And lbr, his escape plan wouldn't exactly be brilliant or anything.

His buddies turned on him this week.  No turning back for Hernandez now.

I couldn't tell...did anything the DA read sound like witness/accomplice statements, or was it all stuff that could be gotten from video/text messages?

We don't have multiple threads about every criminal that kills someone either.  This is being discussed here because he's an athlete that plays for a local team.  I don't think there is anything wrong with nothing that this sucks as a Pats fan.  Maybe sad or depressed is the wrong word to use.  But for people who were fans of the Pats or the guy individually it sucks.  That is not to say that the impact on the Pats or on Pats fans is important in the grand scheme of things, of course.

I think it's starting to set in on his face now the reality of what just happened.  he looks a bit more concerned.

Defense essentially asking for an expanded gag order on anybody anywhere. That's one angle right away on how the defense thinks he can create a "Technical" argument to set aside a future verdict or taint jury selection and -or testimony/evidence.

I know it's innocent until proven guilty but I am astounded by the level of detail being presented.  They really have a case and it will be interesting to see the approach of the defense.   I don't think he's going to get an "OJ" type jury in Mass.

The way not to get an "OJ Jury" is not to allow the police and forensic scientists to commit perjury or other kinds of misconduct, because the exposure of that conduct raises enough questions to allow (in OJ's case) a guilty man to walk free.

From the description, it sounds as if they took their time and built an airtight case.  Kudos.

I bet the "no bail" decision woke him up.  He's used to seeing consequences vanish in a puff of smoke.

It really is amazing.

The only thing that keeps you from thinking this was execution style cold blood is the pure ineptness of the entire thing.  The only thing that makes sense is that this was meant as a scare thing not a kill thing and then something snapped and it turned into a kill thing.  Even then, it's stupid to bring a loaded weapon anywhere if you aren't prepared to actually use it.

I mean, assuming all of these facts are true:
- Using a rental car, then exchanging it the same night?  None of those guys knows how to steal a car?  Nobody understands that the rental is just as easily tracked?  Hell at least report the rental car stolen and don't return the fucking thing.
- Allowing Lloyd to be on his phone the entire time?
- Coming all the way back to North Attleboro?  I mean, seriously, there are better places between Dorchester and North Attleboro to try and get away with something like this.
- Killing someone within a mile of his house?
- Keeping all the weapons when you know the police are have identified you as a person of interest?
- Doing anything at all near your house with its surveillance system?
- Keeping your cell phone?

What in the fuck with how dumb this is?
