They are adding either woman's lacrosse or rowing.Fred not Lynn said:I also note that the article about ASU only mentions men's ice hockey. Won't there need to be a women's team to for Title IX compliance? Or do they already have enough extra women's things that it will work without?
Title IX is based on the entire athletic department, not one sport. We don't see Women's Football, do we?Fred not Lynn said:I also note that the article about ASU only mentions men's ice hockey. No brainer...Arizona State is fully expecting other Pac12 teams to make the jump. Oregon backed by Phil Knight possibly could next. USC? UCLA? Arizona?. I mean they could be getting tons of great recruits due to the weather.
But seldom does a school just have enough surplus women's spots to just add a men's sport without a corresponding women's sport to balance it out.Dan to Theo to Ben said:Title IX is based on the entire athletic department, not one sport. We don't see Women's Football, do we?
It goes both ways though of course, BC doesn't have men's volleyball, for example.
These west coast schools will have plenty of opportunities to play top level competition. Teams will jump at the opportunity to travel out west for recruiting and vise versa.gryoung said:No brainer is correct. I highly doubt many top-level recruits will flock to ASU for the weather. You have to know these kids. They are rink rats. Not ot mention the Beanpot and the legacy of playing top teams night in and night out ......Hockey East, ECAC ...
That game was at Thompson (Dartmouth) not at home.behindthepen said:BU loses 2-0 at home vs. Dartmouth, who is .500 in the ECAC.
I guess noone really wants to hold the #1 spot this year.
Wow.sachmoney said:I think it's safe to say that Michigan needs to make a coaching change.
I agree. Red's a legend, but it's time. They will likely miss the tourney for the third year in a row, and they have too much talent for that to happen.sachmoney said:I think it's safe to say that Michigan needs to make a coaching change.
Don't think there's any way he's fired, but I did hear through the proverbial grapevine that he was ready to walk away a couple years ago and changed his mind after the team ended the season with a run of wins (nearly won ccha tourney, which would have been an automatic bid to the NCAA).jsinger121 said:The question is does Red have the dignity to walk away because if he doesn't does Michigan have the balls to fire him?
Why was he a heathy scratch? Doing USA stuff?mt8thsw9th said:So BU ties Union without Eichel,
He was back, but they were resting him because of WJC.kenneycb said:World Juniors
This made me think of Teddy Sarandis. Wonder if a NY version exists who can talk up the event and get on Ranger fans to attend.Philip Jeff Frye said:Disappointing crowd at the Garden last night though after last years near sell out. That was Harvard's worst game of the year, by a lot. Not even their feared Power Play worked. Only their 2nd loss, the first of which was 2-1 to Yale at Bright. There's always some excuse for these guys, such as only playing one game since Dec 6 when they beat RPI on 12/30.Philip Jeff Frye said:Saw Yale dominate Harvard again at MSG last night. Final score was 4-1. Very one sided game as Yale, which has sometimes struggled on offense this year, outshot Harvard 42-21. Yale has beaten two top ten ranked teams in a week, so hopefully we're building momentum for the remainder of the ECAC schedule.
