Nice dive by Escobedo.

The officials are admiring it on video as we speak.

EDIT - Wow, didn't expect that to be a 5:00 major. Holy shit. No matter, though -- Johnny should know better than that.

And just like that, Danny O'Regan through a screen at 1:42 makes it 4-2 Terriers.

The power play continues, well over 4:00 left.

Another BU power play underway... And they score. O'Regan gets his second of the night, and it's 5-2 Terriers with 11:00 left.

BC gets a turn with the man advantage. McGregor for a cross-check at 9:20. First BU penalty of the period.

Whitney gets one back for the Eagles to make it 5-3.

Gaudreaux just got robbed as he broke in alone, and there'll be a penalty on Grzelcyk for a slash.

BC power play coming with 3:58 left.

Hmmmm... A minute gone in the power play, BC pulls their goalie, and Parker calls a time-out during a stoppage. Eagles skaters catch a breather there.

Yeah, that move clearly backfired. A routine clearing pass by Rodrigues goes into the empty net for his 2nd of the game.

The HE championship is basically going to be a play-in for the terriers.  WIn and they get the automatic bid, but that would probably put them in rankings-wise as well with the quality win over BC and UML(assuming the win).  You gotta think that with the loss in the championship they'll probably be the first or second out.

Right now I think it's absolutely a play-in game for them. There's already one guaranteed bracket buster in the AHA, so only the PWR top 15  (at most) will be eligible for at-large bids. Two of the other three conference finals have a potential bracket buster playing (Colorado College & Brown), and Michigan &/or Ohio State could do the same in the CCHA.

I still want to know how that was a 5 minute major. Seemed like a board or a cross check but no idea how that was a 5. Given it was Escobedo, I'm not too surprised though.

Still doesn't change the fact BC's back end is absurdly green and they offense is extremely top heavy. I swear the Arnold line was basically double shifted and had no gas by the third.

Basically I expect then to win one or two games in the tourney max and then on to next year. They're too green this year.

I will say that the BU student section should curb down on the "We can't hear you" chants. The jokes are just too easy.

i've got to give total credit to the Kenmore Kommunity Kollege team last night, down 2-0 they could have turtled but came back and kicked us in the nuts over and over

I love Gaudreau  but there are times when the kid has a wee bit too much hot dog in him, like the full lebgth rush in the 2nd per where he could have passed off a couple times to someone with a shot, then again he is a kid

as i said on the twitta machine, I'm bringing back the city's old slogan 'theres a lot to like about Lowell' Go Hawks

Notre Dame advances to the CCHA final tomorrow with a 3-1 win over Ohio State. They are in the odd position of possibly landing a 1 seed, yet haven't clinched an NCAA berth at the moment. If they beat Michigan tomorrow, they could land a 1 seed, whereas if they lose to Miami, they are on the bubble (probably the #13 spot), with autobids possibly taking up the 13-16 seeds.

About 4:00 left in period 2 of the ECAC consolation game, and Quinnipiac leads Yale 1-0. An official review negated what would have been the tying goal by the Bulldogs.

Yale doesn't necessarily have to win to get into the field of 16, but a loss would be playing with fire since most scenarios drop them to 15th in the PWR. If any of CC, BU or Michigan were to win their conference tournament, Yale would get bounced. (A win by Brown over Union would actually boost the Bulldogs up to 13th).

And two three more quick ones puts Michigan up 3 4-0.  I hate to be defeatist, but the one thing the RedHawks are not is a come from behind team.  Guess they'll never have the pleasure of beating the Wolverines in the CCHA tournament.

Miami has pulled McKay from net. Jay Williams now in goal.

The bubble teams -- Yale, Minn St, St. Cloud, WMU, Niagara -- have to be shitting their collective drawers tonight. Bracket busters in all 5 conference finals.

EDIT - Notre Dame is in the field even if they lose to Michigan. Worst-case PWR I can see for them is 8th.

EDIT: Back up sieve time.
Would love to see the Wolverines stay hot for another day and a half. What a story potentially [knocks wood]

Quinnipiac shuts out Yale 3-0. The bulldogs are now going to have to sweat the next day out.

With BC and Minnesota losing in their semifinal, that leaves the RedHawks in good position to still snag one of the top seeds, likely in Toledo.  Hopefully they get their act together and stop coming out flat in the first game of a weekend.  They're past the point now where they get another game to make up for the loss.

First time since 2004 bu/BC hasn't won the title. First time since 1996 and just the fourth time in league history that one of the big four hasn't won it (ME, UNH, BC, and bu).

This is pretty awesome to see, especially after Lowell won four games just two years ago. See, it's not impossible Northeastern...
