Is there any level of suspension that you would advise Tom to accept?

Truthful answer regarding accessibility of the Commish would have been, "I'm available 24/7 to my selected media toadies."

I actually think the Philly guy's question was a good and important one.  Especially the second part.

Note: there are people on both sides of this issue that hate Goodell.  That he's terrible at his job is an opinion with bipartisan support.

Belichick will swing if any wrongdoing is found.

Dick.

You didn't think Goddell's answer was the right one there?  He basically said, in so many words, "whoa, back the fuck off, the bounty thing was something where they were on clear notice, and here we don't even know if there's an infraction."  I think that's a positive answer (both for reading tea leaves) and the right answer.

Commish: "We don't know enough to know who is responsible or in fact if there is even an infraction."

Well, imagine if he's uttered those words 10 days ago.

Can we add this quote to Shep's Ballghazi piece?

You suspended the Saints HC even though he didn't know what was going on, will the same standard apply to BB.

Goodell lost me with his answer to Rachel Nichols. Reminiscent of his disaster of a news conference in September.

Basically, he wanted to know if the "ignorance is no excuse" reasoning for suspending Sean Payton would apply to Belichick if there was any findings of wrongdoing on the Patriots' part.  Rog more or less said yes IF anything was found.  Of course, the media will ignore the IF part.

Reiss: Have you ever before tested footballs in the middle of the game?
Goodell: Do you mean in the middle of the game? WTF
Reiss: Correct, ya know halftime.
Goodell: I was QUITE clear we tested at halftime during the AFC championship.
Reiss: Right, but what about other games.
Goodell: Oh I have no idea.

In the simulacrum
He asked if the league had ever done in game testing before.

Gdell answered that they did it in the AFC champ. game.

Reiss followed up with the other-than-then question.
Gdell said Wells is looking into it.

This is the best quote of the press conference. Posting it to facebook now.

It's incredible the idiot questions these people ask. You get one question and want to know why Arizona?

Oh man, he avoided the second half of the Arizona reporter's question, which was the much better one -- do you think the ballgate thing has detracted from the game.

Whatever.
Also, I'm not sure many people thought the world was flat back then, given that Aristotle had demonstrated that it was round 17 centuries prior. That's more of an 18th century myth. Sort of like the myth that the Colts' balls didn't change pressure on game day.
