Is there any level of suspension that you would advise Tom to accept?

I probably listen to more Boom & Carton show than any reasonable Boston sports fan should.

He is not a troll like the way Doyel or Hubbuch is, but he is definitely hot-headed and is an abashed, dyed-to-the-wool, green-to-the-bones Jets fan. He has enough connections in the NYC area to get his little "scoops" (runs a lot of charity events), but they are at best 50-50.

I fully believe Carton. I just do not believe in this "influential NFL source" is dishing out, when all facts point to a 2016 ruling, and most likely in Brady's favor.

Living in the NY area, I listen to a lot of Boomer & Carton.  And I find them amusing, but not often serious.

The reason I do not believe Carton is because I can state with a near 100% certainty that the "NFL source" doesn't exist.

@BenVolin: In response to WFAN report, NFL spokesman says "It is highly unlikely that the (Brady) appeal will be decided before the end of the season."

It's fun knowing things. When you do - and some click-baiting moron says something antagonistic - you can grin, shake your head and say, "That's hilarious."

Ordway just said it's the lead story on the main Yahoo page, beating out Pope Francis and Boehner's resignation.

It would be hard to get a plain old, state level, district court, case heard within 5 months. Never mind have an opinion issued.

The source has no idea how slow the wheels of justice work.

Just the things that people in this thread who do this sort of thing for a living have been telling us. (I think you were joking but just in case you weren't.)

I think it's easy, and probably correct, to believe that Carton has no source.  Although he referred to him as "extraordinarily connected".

But, say that he actually does.  And this guy told Carton this story.  Shouldn't Carton be a little upset?  Or annoyed?  Why not out this guy? Especially since an NFL spokesman  has come out and said it's highly unlikely.   It's not Carton is a respected journalist or anything.  From "there's no doubt" to "highly unlikely".  Clown show indeed.

Because Carton doesn't care.  That people are actually linking to his show and discussing him is what counts in his mind.

Is there any doubt that it's Kensil, or someone acting on his behalf?

If Carton had a source, that person would be the one who feels burned.  Because the source was just made to look like a moron with no actual knowledge of what is going on.

This is how you know that he actually has no source.

When did Esiason become such a mouth breather? He was never intelligent but that clip puts him with the dumbest of the dumb in all this. When you disagree or don't understand a judge's ruling just scream "He is legislating from the bench!"

Here's the truth about Esiason. He thinks that NE fans who listen to him on WEEI or 98.5 don't know that sports radio exists in the NYC market.

I've heard him gush on about how much respect he has for Brady and BB on Boston stations, then come right back very next morning on B&C show egging on the rabid Jets fanbase, starting with Carton.

It's been a while since I tuned him out -- he's very two-faced when it comes to what he says about the Patriots, depending on which radio station he happens to appear on.

This is where I am. "Extraordinary" could mean anything, but most likely a player in the DFG. Carton can puff up credentials of his source, but I do think he actually exists and they did meet/have dinner, whatever.

As far as the "well-connected source" looking like an idiot, that description fits a ton of people. Not out of norm for this clown show.

The text from the Yahoo article has this:

According to him, he spoke with a "very influential person in the NFL" on Thursday who told him that the league is still pushing hard for Tom Brady to serve a four-game suspension at some point this season.

"a" instead of "the" is an odd choice.

You would think that some of these suited egomaniacs would want to get their names out there.  It's probably a good idea to avoid getting indigestion over any of these ESPNFL stories where the "source" is desperate for the cloak of anonymity.  And when Volin is calling your anti-Pats story hogwash, you are way out there.

It's not about the station, it's about the environment.

When Boomer is on CBS or being interviewed by another station, he's there as Boomer Esiason, former NFL player and current analyst. He plays it straight and gives you his honest opinion.

When he's with Carton, they are playing roles.  Boomer is the straight man, but the show is not a serious one and if the next time they break news it will be the first time.  (With the exception of when Boomer went off on the Mets' player who took paternity leave and had to backtrack.)

Nothing said on Boomer & Carton can be taken at face value.  I'm having a hard time understanding how this is even remotely controversial.

We've seen this all through this process. Consider Scheffer's appearances on Boston radio -- and how little of what he said there made it into his reporting on ESPN. And Scheffer's been as objective as anyone with this story

As to the appeal timeline where are we?

1-when does the 3-Judge panel get selected?

2-I know the NFL filed grounds for the appeal about a week ago, but when do they have to file the full-blown appeal brief?

3--What's the timing for the NFLPA response?

The days that the Court will have oral argument and the members of the panels that will sit on those days have probably already been set up for the next year to 18 months.  Then after a briefing schedule is set, and after all sides have filed their briefs (appellant(NFL)/ then 30 days for appellee/ then appellant is permitted to file a reply.) Then a date for oral argument will be chosen, and the panel sitting that day, will hear the case.  The parties themselves will not know hwo is on their panel until roughly a week before oral argument.

Here's the sitting calendar through January:
http://www.ca2.uscourts.gov/clerk/calendars/term_sittings.html

The Court posts the names of panel members at noon each Thursday for cases scheduled on the Argument Calendar for the following week. Any updates to the Argument Calendar are posted immediately.

One thing that DFG taught us is that there are no shortage of D-students among Goodell's minions in the NFL office.  I'm sure at least one of them is truly convinced that the NFL will win the appeal and will "nail Brady" sometime this season.  That "source" probably has no idea (or even need to know) the status of the legal filings, etc.  Was probably told by someone higher up to "expedite" some paperwork that the NFL needs for their pointless appeal, and translated that to mean the appeal court's decision was going to be expedited.

Dumb people tend to hire even dumber people below them.

Sounds like this theory was right.  Some idiot with the NFL heard hallway gossip that the NFL and Brady were going to file a motion seeking an "expedited" appeals process and assumed that that meant the decision would come this season.

Can't wait for all the media folks who were brow beating Tom into dropping his appeal so 'we could all just get on with it' do the same here. I'm sure it will be treated equally.

Relax.

Brady will have no involvement in oral arguments.

There is no chance of any suspension looking in before 2016.

It is in everyone's interest to have a decision by 2016 opener if possible. This schedule accommodates that, or at least makes it more likely.

They point out the numbers over Brady's last 16 games:
67% 4700 yards 44TD 11INT.

That's not correct.

In the last 14 games last season he had 31, plus 7 in first 2 this year.

He also only threw 9 INTs last year, and doesn't have any this year.

Gotcha. Okay, that makes sense.

Here's some cool Brady stats--since halftime of the AFC title game:

completed 72.3% of his passes for 1,213 yards, 13 TD, 2 INT and a 117.5 rating.
Pro-rated to 16 games: 72.2% completions, 5,542 yards, 60 TD, 9 INT, 117.5 rating

http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/content/60-td-passes-tom-bradys-superhuman-statistical-response-to-deflategate/34434/

And from facebook:

Sick Tom Brady data. The Patriots are 15-7 (.682) when Brady passes the ball 50 or more times. Every other team since 1960 has combined to go 100-386-6 (.209).
The Brady Patriots have singularly won 13 percent of all the 50-attempt victories during the past 55 years of professional football.
Brady is the career leader in 50-attempt games (22), 50-attempt wins (15) and 50-attempt winning percentage (.682). Nobody else even close in any category.

If there are 100 wins and Brady has 15 of them, how did they come up with 13%. Should be 15%.

edit - Brady wasn't in the 100-386 record, so it was 15 out of 115. Sorry, I was wrong.

Well, it shows a distinct lack of understanding as to the issues involved and how it relates to the union he's a part of.

And it also shows a large amount of jackassery towards the guy that helped you get the ring you lusted after.

OK, fair points. Personally, I've lost the capacity to get pissed off that someone from a different team or fan base is ready or willing to bust the balls of my team or fan base. Is Revis a douche bottle? Why, yes he is. Do I care? 'Fraid not.

And I don't mean that to be discussion stifling. It's liberating, honestly, as    the     hate          flows              away ........
