The Patriots should issue a release saying "Jastremski and McNally are officially back at work, but will no longer be able to send bad jokes to each other via text."bankshot1 said:Does the NFL have the right to approve all hires by teams?
These guys were iced for reasons unknown, and longer than the Browns GM who actually broke NFL rules, why shouldn't they be allowed back to work?
It should be locked because you want it to be? Yes, we won (for now, hopefully forever), but it was one of the biggest news stories - not just sports - of the year, and there is still fallout to be discussed.cornwalls@6 said:Somebody lock this fucker. Yeah, but if you are invested in this place, just ignoring shit you think doesn't meet our signal to noise standard isn't really good enough. It feels like we're just circle jerking on this issue now.djbayko said:It should be locked because you want it to be? You are free to ignore the thread.

If I'm Brady, when I do give my sit-down interview, I am demanding this is part of it. I'd also want JJ and McNally to get their say, as well.
Specific to PSI levels in footballs, Roethlisberger said, “I’ve never actually known or cared what my game balls are like. I don’t know what PSI is in there, that’s never been my thing from high school to college to the NFL. So I have no idea what our equipment guys have the inflation number at. So I am totally clueless to all that stuff. I just play ball.”
Ball pressure has been so inconsequential, I haven't even thought about that. I think at the end of the day the only time I thought about it was after the Jets game and then after this was brought up after the championship game. It was never something that has been on my radar, registered. I never said PSI. I don't think I even knew what that meant until after the championship game. It was never something that even crossed my mind.
Did you miss the entire WellsReportContext thing? Kraft obviously decided it was worth going down that road and, once he did, he should have done it right. Demonstrating the effects of the IGL would have been quite tame compared to much of the stuff on that website.
Do you like whacking a hornet's nest with a stick? Why or why not?

Brady was roundly ridiculed and basically called a big fat liar by Felger, Mazz, and other mediots for saying that he didn't know or care about the PSI in his footballs until after the Jets game. I wonder, will these same people now call Roethlisberger a liar for saying basically the exact same thing?
I know it shouldn't be shocking when sports media types are exposed as having no frigging idea what they are talking about. I guess what bothers me about many in the local Boston media during this story is how downright eager they were to cast aspersions at Brady and the Patriots at every possible opportunity. Brady says, under oath, that he never really cared about the PSI in his footballs. Do they just take that statement at face value, and say, "Hmm, interesting. Didn't know that." Nope. LIAR.

Tom Brady left out of NFL promotional piece for Super Bowl 50
Where's Tom?
That might be the question that New England Patriots fans have when looking at one of the NFL's latest promotional pieces for the 2015 season and Super Bowl 50.
It's a quarterback-driven league, so it makes sense that Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, Russell Wilson, Drew Brees, Andrew Luck and Aaron Rodgers are featured. Arizona's Carson Palmer might be considered a little bit of a reach, while Joe Flacco, Eli Manning, Tony Romo, Philip Rivers and Cam Newton could have gripes at not being part of the mix
But no Brady?
We can only wonder why.
Turns out the league deleted its original tweet a few hours after it was posted.
Well, if these "hard-liners" had any brains and reading comprehension, they would have known the bolded statement a long time ago.norm from cheers said:Yesterday's MMQB

I’ve had a couple of club people who for months believed Brady must be guilty of something significant and now are questioning whether he directed any Patriots employees to do anything illegal." The point is that it is inconceivable that the NFL, or any other organization having any connection to the NFL, could put out a promotional piece with the top QBs in the game without including Tom Brady in the top 7 unless the motivations were down to pettiness. There can be no other explanation.
To me, this is just one of many examples of the NFL acting vindictively and in an otherwise indefensible manner toward Tom. This does not offend me. I have come to expect this behavior.
But in the wake of the NFL just suffering an embarrassing and public defeat at the hands of Tom and the NFLPA, I am glad that people pointed it out. I enjoy seeing Roger and his minions act like little boys, as they have once again.
I had not thought of that. Good point. Very often, incompetence -- not adjusting the promo when the facts changed, in this case -- is a better explanation than a conspiracy theory. That said, I love that the explanations are down to pettiness and incompetence. Either one makes RG look terrible, and I am in love with anything that does that.PedroKsBambino said:
To me, the most likely explanation is actually not pettiness, it is that they knew the promo would run this week and they were expecting Brady to be suspended at the time. It would be a little weird to have the promo running with a guy currently suspended for cheating.
Of course, the assumptions embedded there were false...

I admire your dedication to the cause but imho, you need to take a break from this topic. Brady won and he is playing in the season opener in three days. At this point we should all simply be excited about that and should stop looking for more problems whether it be stupid social media or PR statement oversights.TheoShmeo said:I had not thought of that. *******
OK, I know that some will say "nothing to see here," and that very well could be true, but does anyone think there is anything significant to Tom thanking his friends, his family and Bob Kraft, for their support during the DG ordeal, and not mentioning Bill?
On the one hand, it's dangerous to overly parse these kind of comments. Athletes say things and often without special planning. On the other hand, the omission seems obvious and a little glaring, and from the very beginning, Bill distanced himself and has characteristically never said anything much in defense of Tom on this (as it's not relevant to the next game).
To be clear, the ONLY way this would matter would be if it impacted their working relationship -- which seems HIGHLY doubtful given their shared competitiveness and their long course of dealing together -- or Tom's desire to sign another deal in NE. So please don't misinterpret the question as a "hair on fire" type issue. It is not that, in my view. It is just something I noticed as was wondering if others had, too, etc.
At this point, we are all able to multi-process. I could not be happier that Tom is playing Thursday night. Noting the failure to mention Bill should have been understood with the caveats I mentioned. It probably is not a big issue, and it very well could be a complete non-issue, but anything that might impact the Pats' ability to succeed going forward interests me.DeJesus Built My Hotrod said:I admire your dedication to the cause but imho, you need to take a break from this topic. Let me get this straight - its ok for people to speculate that Brady might have deliberately omitted mentioning his coach because he did, indeed do so. However, many of us were upset when others speculated that Brady was responsible for deflated footballs because there were, indeed footballs that appeared to be deflated. Does that make sense?johnmd20 said:

To be sure, things like the offense line looking shaky in the pre-season, Stork not being at practice yesterday, the potential and perhaps likely drop off at corner and that 4 skill guys from last year's SB squad (Vereen, LaFell, Blount and Develin) will not be on the field with Brady on Thursday all concern me quite a bit more than this issue or non-issue. But again, we're all nimble enough to be delighted at our good fortune with Berman and excited about the opener and, at the same time, able to note concerns, big and small.
Yeah, fair. I still think there may be more to it than just an omission but your point is well taken.Jed Zeppelin said:BB took time out of prepping for the freaking Super Bowl to address the issue more thoroughly than most people did in the 7 months that followed. Anyone that still thinks he threw Tom under the bus is a Mort at best and a Tom Jackson at worst.
I think you're being awfully harsh on King. He's as connected as they come but he's also willing to float the idea on a local radio station that he's been used. Has Mort done that? Mort won't even go on local radio and defend himself never mind suggest that he was wrong.jimbobim said:I posted one of King's quotes from this interview over in the thread dedicated to him being a pathetic writer but some of the quotes here are incredibly damning.
On if the NFL sought out national writers like himself to push its agenda: “The narrative looks awful. I agree. I’m not denying that. And I honestly can’t tell you categorically you’re wrong, because I don’t know if you’re wrong. I don’t know if you’re right or wrong. But it’s disappointing, obviously.”
Translation- Like Mort I wouldn't say we were sought out. Rather, we called the league office, hell maybe even had separate conference calls White House style, and dutifully transcribed what we were supposed to.
And then this one where he has his come to jesus moment on getting more than one source before running with info. I mean has journalism school really scrapped the get multiple source for something big rule ?
On if he has been more careful about quoting sources since his Deflategate debacle: “Absolutely. I can’t say that in strong enough terms, that I believe that in the next — like in today’s column I wrote a little bit about what I’m hearing around the league. Honestly, I’m hearing 10 times more than what I wrote. But quite honestly, it was almost tortuous for me over the weekend to not write a bunch of the things that I’ve heard, because if I hear them from one person now, even if it’s one person who I’ve trusted in a huge way. Honestly, I don’t mean to say I’m running scared. I don’t mean that at all. I mean that unless I get two people from now on, I’m just not going to write it. I’m just simply not going to write it. Even though I had gotten to the point with quite a few people around the league that if they say it, to me it was gospel. … And that’s probably good for journalism, quite honestly.
