Sources: Tristan Thompson is WILLING to sign a 3-year, $53 million deal with the Cavs. Cavs have not yet agreed to the deal.

Story is that Thompson has lowered his demand from 5 yr/$94 max to 3 years/$53 million

Whatever, Broussard proved himself many times over earlier in the offseason when he broke the Sonny Weems deal.

Had the noontime SC on in my office yesterday, and heard some football analyst speaking of the Steelers QB situation - "Michael Vick likes to be the lead dog....."

Whoa he is 48-48 on his TD passes? No incompletions or interceptions?? AMAZING

I'm amazed that they can tell which passes were supposed to go to the endzone and which were supposed to be stopped further upfield.

"Protecting the Shield: Why ESPN Can't be Trusted to Cover the NFL," Michael Corcoran, Truthout.

This article is long but has plenty of deflategate analysis. Of particular interest are how it measures the coverage from ESPN.com

Articles/videos on ESPN.com about Deflategate (in the first 7 months of it breaking): 844

Compared to scandals by NFL owners: Haslan's fraud, FBI raid case got 23 articles in 7 months. The Vikings owner found culpable in a fraud case: 5 articles in 7 months.

Big game and upset in College Football tonight.  Clemson coach giving the impassioned post game interview and ESPN cuts away in the middle of it to the two SportsCenter anchors playing on their iPads oblivious to what's going on and that they are on live TV.  Stay classy ESPN.

Was not intentional. I'm not saying anything else because I like my job.

Whitlock's ability to find work given the inane and inaccurate shit he says 95% of the time is astounding.  I'm just happy this means no more Whitlock on PTI.

Whitlock is the sports media equivalent to Lane Kiffen (or Rob Ryab), no matter how bad he seems to be at his job he keeps getting work.

The irony of being called a liar spurring him into a 10 minute rant about how sensitive "today's athletes" are is just delicious.

Deadspin operates as a hipster gang. Bullied media into silence. But remember, hipster gangs are good because they quote Coates.

After the fiasco this summer I axed ESPN.com from my bookmarks page and replaced it with cbssports.com and haven't missed a thing. It gives me all the scores I want, the front page is more manageable, and their are less ridiculous stories.

Apparently some Grantland podcasters said nice things about the editors who were leaving, and ESPN cut it out. Classy.

I've been slowly taking myself off ESPN for the past several months.  No SportsCenter in the morning. No pregame stuff on Sundays.  No website (although I do have to go through it to manage my fantasy team).  I only watch when there is a live event on (such as MNF or other type of sporting event).

It's been nice.

Still trying to decide which site replaces ESPN.com as my go-to for sports news.  Yahoo is good but pretty limited.  SI has great content but is damn near impossible to navigate.  CBSsports has good news but not much commentary, while NBCsports is the opposite.

After ballghazi, I also have completely cut ESPN from my viewing habits. For browsing the web, I usually hit Yahoo Sports with an ad-blocker installed. That site usually gives me 80% of what I'm looking for. The rest can be found from Deadspin, Twitter, or any of the sports related sub-Reddit's. For my mobile device, I have been using The Score and find it a pretty suitable alternative to ESPN's garbage.

On the TV side, I don't find the medium particularly insightful for processing and understanding topics, so it's been easier to simply remove ESPN without an alternative.

Overall, I don't find myself missing much of ESPN's products. Their demise can't come soon enough.
