In my opinion, one of Felger's best asset as a host is the way he handles callers. The show is never bogged down by pointless screaming matches with callers and though there are "celebrity callers," they don't in any way receive a lot of "preferential airtime." I'm sure that "Mike in Attleboro" and others get to jump the line, but they still only receive 2-3 minutes of airtime maximum. Not specifically related to the topic at hand, but I'm beginning to enjoy Felger more and more each day. I love how he has no tolerance for callers on crappy cell phones and speakerphones. Of course, I imagine the station wouldn't be too happy with him discouraging people from calling from their cars considering he is in the "drive-time" slot.
Totally agree with this post. Why do you keep saying this? Who is saying Henry is a liar here? People seem to agree that Henry believes that no one in the troika ratted out Tito to Hohler, but it is entirely possible he is mistaken because he trusts the wrong people. That's not a lie. Henry himself admitted in that same interview that there are a TON of people who work in the Red Sox organization and he can't possibly say with 100 percent certainty that none of them talked to Hohler.
The second part -- that Henry said Hohler admitted none of the troika were part of the "team sources" -- is also inaccurate but I dont think it's a lie. Maybe Henry was told this by Larry or Werner? He sounds like he wants to believe this, and because he himself didn't rat out TIto, that makes it easier for him to believe others in his camp also acted similarly.
Re Hohler: no self-respecting journalist on earth is telling anyone -- least of all the public or the head of a company that was just the subject of a scathing expose -- who his anonymous sources are. These people talked anonymously out of fear of losing their jobs, and to violate that is akin to plagiarism in the realm of things you simply don't do. There's a reason why journalists go to jail when a court orders them to say who talked to them -- it's not done, period. You do it and you lose all professional credibility inside and outside the profession.
Maybe he was trying to motivate him.OC was all up in Manny's wife
For the first time in 2 years really, I doubt this is the way they hoped to recapture the top spot in terms of interest among the 4 Boston teams though. It's amazing to me - a couple weeks after the end of the season, in full football swing and with hockey started, that the Sox are still headlining pretty much every show. Even when these owners are losing the PR battle, they are winning, and only sort of in the Charlie Sheen sense of the word.
There really are times, though, when no news is good news. Or at least no news is better than two weeks of shit-storm news. It's amazing to me - a couple weeks after the end of the season, in full football swing and with hockey started, that the Sox are still headlining pretty much every show. It's not taped - it's live. And if you pass, be aware that Barca will simply pass it back to you in front of an open net. It's what they do.

I got home halfway through the interview and turned on CSN hoping to see Angry John. I don't have a radio in my house, I found out the hard way that Tunein dropped it from their app, so I went out and sat in my car until the interview was over.I think they said in three weeks on Monday or Tuesday - when they made this exact point about how Comcast must be killing themselves that they couldn't get Angry John Henry on the simulcast on TV.
to be fair cherington was on the big show yesterdayBut the names are coming to Felger now.
The Big Show's softballing all these years have led people who want to confront issues head on like Henry and now Cherington to go to Felger and take what's coming to them.
Loved, loved, loved that.My personal favorite exchange:
"How do you bring back Beckett given the way he behaved last year?"
"(pause) Because he was one of the best pitchers in the AL."
"But what if he doesn't want it anymore?"
"What if he doesn't want what?"
It's so funny when people who are unfamiliar with them are confronted with Felger's narratives. It's like he actually thinks they are intuitive and not entirely fantastical.
They talked non-stop Pats for 4 hours on Monday and I'm assuming for the first two today with Wiggy...the "pocket squares" thing was typical Felger. You could feel him winking at you through the radio while he was ranting about it. There's no way he was completely serious (or at least, I hope he wasn't).The Patriots laid a huge egg this past Sunday, the Bruins are in a free fall and can't seem to right the ship, and the Sox are in the middle of a search for a new manager after an epic collapse and what do I have to listen to for 25 minutes? Felger bitching about a guy wearing an ascot or "pocket squares". I have always stuck up for Felger but what the fuck? I have no idea who he was even talking about but assume it was Makanin.
But that wasn't his take, his take was that this guy showed up for an interview, for a job he wanted, and dressed to impress the owners so because of that he is a bad manager. Now if Mackanin has a reputation for wanting to look prettier than his players, and maybe he does I don't know, then that would be a legitimate gripe or potential concern.I don't necessarily agree with him, but at the same time I don't know too much about Mackanin. I think that Felger does bring up an interesting take: the Sox ownership is so focused on how they're perceived by the public, do they hire a manager who also cares about perception and is this a good thing?
But to shit all over a guy for getting a haircut and wearing an ascot to an interview and correlating that with how he is going to manage the team is beyond ridiculous, even for Felger.
It's not a fucking ascot, it's a pocket square. An ascot is a neckwear item. That aside, it is ridiculous, but nothing's too ridiculous for Felger. But that wasn't his take, his take was that this guy showed up for an interview, for a job he wanted, and dressed to impress the owners so because of that he is a bad manager. If one gets past the emotion of "HENRY LIED!!!!!%%%$$%$%%" I think Felger and Mazz were pretty exposed during that interview. They kept bringing up items that were obviously sound bites and Henry kept saying "there is a context here, and it is..." and time after time made them look like rumormongers who didn't really understand the complexity. Which is, of course, the reality.Agreed. There's good Felger and there's bad Felger, and this was bad Felger. I'm glad Ben isn't giving him an inch on it.
That was funny. He was pretty diplomatic when they played millers comments about him. He really doesn't think that he's going to get suspended, and thought the hearing went well. Hopefully he's right.Lucic shows up. Says hearing went well, "hopefully I'm not suspended, we'll see."
"Correction.... I'm 60 pounds bigger than him. I'll respond on the ice."
Any have any pictures of the simulcast on what "beatle" looks like.
If it is, he won. That dude is on TV, doing a job most of us would love to do.Is that Imgran?
Why? I think Bertrand plays the "third wheel role" to perfection. He also, arguably, has better chemistry with Felger when he co-hosts than Mazz does (he actually like, you know, disagrees with Felger sometimes). The "beetle's" grown quite a bit in his time on the air.I was gonna make a crack about his weight, but you know what, I couldn't stand him before and I can't stand him now, and it has nothing to do with the fact that he's a button-popper.
I think you're in the minority on this one. I think he's tremendous....and enormous.I was gonna make a crack about his weight, but you know what, I couldn't stand him before and I can't stand him now, and it has nothing to do with the fact that he's a button-popper.

Felger calling anybody else "a poop stirring child" is like Tony Mazz mocking somebody for stealing "You're Absolutely Right, Mike" from him
