Why does WEEI have a need to have a suckbag third wheel at all times on D&H?
Just terrible radio to listen to.PeaceSignMoose said:Today's meme is "Revis hates being here"

"Absolutely Mike!"
PeaceSignMoose said:The Red Sox cannot be as good as they were last year, and the Yankees will not be as bad. Ergo the Yankees are better than the Red Sox.
Oh, Mazz.
John Marzano Olympic Hero said:Guys, this is all schtick. All of it. Every single one of Mazz' Yankee loving screeds are schtick. On Wednesday (I think?) some guy called in the 5:00 hour and proceeded to rip Mazz for the three things he said LAST YEAR about the Red Sox. As the guy was remembering what Mazz said five, six, seven months ago, you could actually hear the glee in Mazz' voice because he said something that stuck in this guy's head last summer and caused him to call back in the dead of winter.
These guys talk so much and say so much that their words are essentially meaningless and they know it -- I mean, it's one of the reasons why I liked them to begin with, they were in on the whole joke of sports radio! But when someone calls back in February and parrots what was said in August and September, they know that they have something. And they're going to keep going to that well all year. So, you best get ready for it because it's coming back and it's going to be dialed up.

First Bill Simmons and now this. Why do you always have to bully our media members? You big meanie!Smiling Joe Hesketh said:
Of course it is. From many other sources I would believe that, 100%. From Mazz? Nope.
EDIT: I'm not trying to give you a hard time BH, you know that. I just think given the nature of the show it's worth asking how Mazz came to his conclusions.

Mazzerotti chimes in (paraphrasing), "I don't even know who is available that's any good Michael! I mean there's the twins at Kentucky but who else?"
Yup we're gonna tank for two players who project to be selected somewhere in the 20-30's. How can you be so unprofessional in your preparation in your supposed specialty? Good god I can't even find an emoticon that expresses how I feel about this.
No one.Red(s)HawksFan said:
Who's specialty is basketball (NBA or college)? Mazz was a Sox beat writer and Felger covered the Pats. Who on that show is supposed to have extensive knowledge of college basketball prospects?
They host a popular SPORTS talk show. It is expected that they become proficient in I dunno......sports. I'm not even asking for exceptional coverage just don't embarrass yourself by not knowing anything about one of the four major sports that IS discussed extensively on the show and then speaking an opinion to prove it.Red(s)HawksFan said:

I'm not asking or expecting an informative opine from my radio sports talk show host. I only don't want him suggesting two players who could both be 2nd round draft picks to be guys the Celtics would be tanking for.Red(s)HawksFan said:
I'm all for sports radio hosts knowing a little something about the sports they cover. No argument there.
But you picked an incredible stupid and obscure area of sports knowledge on which to base your critique of their lack of expertise. There are guys whose job is exclusively to cover college basketball who might not be able to identify clear-cut candidates for top 5 NBA draft picks a month before midnight madness and a good 9 months before the draft itself. And you expect a radio host in a town where NBA basketball is arguably the fourth biggest "passion" and college basketball is largely an afterthought to be able to informatively opine on potential lottery picks?
I don't listen to a lot of sports talk radio so maybe that is the norm. If it is the norm I find that curious. I have done many speaking and training sessions in my jobs and can't imagine ever not being 100% prepared to speak about and respond to any question that may be asked about a discussion topic. If incompetence isn't wrong in that business I'm sure as heck glad I'm not in it.Buffalo Head said:Except for a few weeks in 1994, I don't think Mike and Mad Dog ever spent any significant time talking about hockey, even though three NHL teams played in the region and their station broadcast one of them.
I realize you're a hoophead, but the idea that its some third-degree crime that in late September their focus is entirely on things other than the Celtics is a little silly. They will talk plenty about the Celtics soon enough, and you won't like that either.
HomeRunBaker said:Maybe I wasn't clear. My issue wasn't Mazz not knowing WHO the top lottery picks should be right now......it is knowing WHO ISN'T! Even non-hoop junkies saw the Harrison twins last season. I mean geez, is it that hard to pull up the draft express mock draft? That takes all of about 4 seconds.
Segment on Tankapalooza 2 which was the premise for my post on him being woefully unprepared to discuss a sports topic on their show.steveluck7 said:Was this a segment dedicated to Celtics talk, or was it just brought up by the caller? If it was a segment on the C's and a discussion on "Tankapalooza 2: The Tankening" then yes, some prep should have gone into getting an understanding of potential 2015 lottery targets. If it was more of a one - off caller then you can't really blame Mazz for not having info at the ready
