YES Network couldn’t come up with Whitey Ford?
In a game that changed everything for the organization and on Two days rest - 6 innings and one hit/run.Derek Lowe on short test is the only answer
Could they possibly be trying to reschedule the start of the ALCS a day and eliminate Thursday's off day?
They’re getting killed online, rightfully so.Wow, mlb botched this. Embarrassing.
So it's MondayAnd a horde of cold, wet, drunk, pissed off New Yorkers hit the streets
That's just Wandy, he can't sleep unless he gets an inning in.Boone forgot to communicate to the players of the PPD and the Yankees have taken the field.
It was not a huge storm, just a line that went straight over the Bronx for a few hours longer than people expected. It ended up finally clearing out around 11, but MLB thought that starting it after 10 was too late. They should have given more updates but they were right to try to play it tonight, that's what everyone wanted and it did seem possible for a while.Uhh. What forecasting service is MLB using that didnt show them this was possible yesterday?
Hahahahaha fuck You Curt Schilling. Hahahahhaha.
To this point, it’s just been drizzling all night 50 miles away from the Stadium. It was not a huge storm, just a line that went straight over the Bronx for a few hours longer than people expected. Yeah- I am assuming it’s based on a pitchers performance in the post-season, assuming that’s somehow predictive?I don’t understand the question, one guy at his peak or someone’s whole career? Either way Gibson/Pedro but you could not touch Mike Scott or Hershiser in their magical seasons.
Above 70% means a real chance they could get the game in, which I think MLB and the two teams would have preferred. I doubt they were in the dark with this. And if you are paying the ushers and security and concession people anyway, you might as well let the fans in to buy stuff.View: https://twitter.com/bkabak/status/1582205040290189312

Seems like he gets a lot of credit for what might have been one great game (1991 WS Game 7). He was good otherwise in the post-season, but he certainly had some duds. His performance the year after that great game, in the post-season with the Jays, was mediocre at best (4 starts, 23 innings, 7.43 ERA, 6.57 FIP).Jack Morris? Guy was typically nails in a big game.
honestly, on paper sure but I think the team would have preferred a full stadium night game. That’s twice the team was robbed this series of prime time yankee stadium. The delay greatly benefits the NYY, no? No Bieber for Cleveland and Cortes for NY, plus more rest for NY relievers= NYY win, I fear.
Boy, Stewart was in the right place at the right time for those three WS titles. LA, Oakland and Toronto. I'd completely forgotten about LA and Toronto. I know that it was very frustrating for Boston fans that he had Clemens' number in the post. For the inverse, Gaylord Perry, Ferguson Jenkins, Juan Marichal, Robin Roberts and Early Wynn are some HOF pitchers that never won one.Smaller sample size, but Bruce Hurst was superb in the postseason:
- 7 games, 3 complete games
- never allowed more than 3 runs in a game
- 51.0 ip, 46 h, 14 r, 13 er, 12 bb, 37 k, 2.29 era, 1.14 whip, 6.5 k/9
Dave Stewart was also a postseason stud:
- 22 games, 10-5 record, 3 complete games
- 133.0 ip, 99 h, 45 r, 42 er, 48 bb, 73 k, 2.84 era, 1.11 whip, 4.9 k/9
- won three World Series
Different game back then. Clemens was a strikeout monster but he "only" struck out 8.4 guys per nine innings in his amazing 1986 season.Ugh, I hate Dave Stewart. It’s funny though to look back at his stats and see a K rate under 5. It was much higher in my memory!
