Danny Ainge did that back in 1982.Bigpupp said:Sent out letters to teams telling them he won't sign

Hopefully Greenville. I think he can handle that level out of the gate.

Since I know very little about this sort of thing - once he signs, how quickly would he report?
Would the expected development path of such a player see him in AA by 2015 and AAA in 2016 - with a chance to make the majors any time after that?

Is day 2 over the phone or is that day 3?Snodgrass'Muff said:
Just caught up on the thread and I'm excited about the day one picks. Chavis is intriguing and seems like a really solid bet at #26, the movement on Kopech's pitches is just ridiculous (and Mayo predicted the Sox grabbing him, though he had it at 26, not 33) and Sam Travis reminds me a bit of Kevin Youkilis with that swing, which is definitely a good thing. I like seeing two players with good hit tools grabbed early this year, and love the reports of Shaw having plus power.
Can't wait to see what the Sox do with day 2.

I mention him because we don't get a ton of great prospects out of Oregon, let alone, my alma mater. So I am rooting for him. I watched him play a number of times this season...dynamic kid that works his tail off. Fastest kid I have ever seen play baseball. I talked to scouts about him and his speed, in particular the scout that signed Jacoby, and he basically said this kid is not quite Jacoby, but not far off at all.
The lefthanded hitter is an energetic, high-intensity gamer with tools and instincts. Scouts who like Loehr believe he could develop into an above-average hitter with his bat-to-ball skills, compact stroke and advanced approach. His line-drive stroke will likely limit him to below-average power, though he has a chance to have high doubles production. An average runner, Loehr’s speed plays at plus on the field and out of the box. His speed has a chance to be an asset on the bases with a quick first step and instincts. His above-average lateral range, body control and sure hands are a defensive asset. Loehr has an average arm that plays up because of a quick release and gives him a chance to stay at short, and he could be an above-average defender at second, his most likely long-term destination. The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder has an athletic build with present strength and room to fill out further.
