3/$60m left for Cooper with nothing guaranteed it looks like, so 3 $20m team options basically.

How would the Patriots make the money work without a massive restructure?
Exactly. They gave up almost nothing but they received the privilege of paying Amari Cooper $20M. He's the second highest paid WR in the league, and he's spent his entire career with two solid to very good QBs (Carr and Prescott). Now he's got Mayfield, who will be playing for his job. Only ignoring salary and fit can this deal be considered a steal.

Plus Cooper is a really hot and cold WR. He disappears all the time. I'm not sure that is the trade the Browns were looking for.

Supposedly the Bucs are in on getting Baker, so maybe not? May depend on whether the Browns can get Watson, which has to be doubtful.

Those posts are certainly NFL news but, yeah, new threads are good. Moved the announcing news to its own thread.

Jimmy G might not be changing teams.
That will be shocking to me if he doesn't get moved. I was fully on board with the 49ers not moving him last year and thought it gave them the best chance at being completive with an otherwise strong team and a rookie QB. And that worked out. But doing that for a second year? Damn.

Is the shoulder injury killing his market? Or is there really not much market for a solid floor, apparently low ceiling guy like Jimmy G?

Or Trey Lance really sucks.
Shanahan basically said Lance will be the starter (without actually saying it).

He and Lynch also said they tried to trade Jimmy but the market dried up after the shoulder injury. They’re going to keep him to see if there’s any interest/injuries in training camp.

Lance will be the starter.

49ers save $25.5m by moving on from Jimmy. Assume they're just waiting out the market. If you think there is still a chance to be able to trade him, saying you aren't cutting him is a no-brainer even if you may eventually do it.

Do Mayfield or Garoppolo show up for any camp if they aren’t released/traded?
There's 0 chance the Browns release Baker because they don't save any $ doing it. Only way they save $ on his contract is trading him or if he doesn't show up.

Jimmy has a $600k workout bonus which would be more than plenty to make me show up, but idk.

If I’m the Browns, I don’t get rid of Mayfield until I know that Watson has no suspension.

They picked up Brissett to play during Watson suspension.

With Baker it's just a matter of what they can get for him & if they're going to have to eat any salary to move him. After driving over him with a bus a few times, they can't actually play him.

The guy is tough as hell but made of glass. I don't think you can trade for a guy making $27m without feeling sure he's coming into camp healthy.

EXCLUSIVE American football-Former NFL great Owens coming out of retirement - source http://reut.rs/3uFSYoE
That's because he's not returning to the NFL. From the article:

Terrell Owens, one of the greatest receivers in NFL history, has agreed to come out of retirement and will return to professional football with startup league Fan Controlled Football, a source told Reuters on Thursday.

The cap is fake! Usually the "all - star" team thing doesn't work out. It's too bad they pulled it off and now they are doubling down.

Stafford counting only $13.5m against the cap next year certainly helps. I'm sure this will involve a tiny 1st year salary & small cap hit year 1, then they can just restructure Donald's cap hit down from $26.8m by giving him some more up front $ & they're good to go. For this season at least.

They could also bump Ramsey down a bit from $25.2m.
