I think it'd be a fun series. It's the best offense (FLA) against the best defense (BOS). I'd have to go back and see how similar situations have played out in the past, but my suspiscion is the defense would win out. Both teams have goalie question marks. Bob has more experience but is the sample size of him being meh to bad is quite long now. Ullmark is probably playing the best of all 4 goalies, but has zero playoff experience.

FWIW, these regular season juggernauts have a weird track record of flaming out. Not sure there's a rhyme or reason, but there have been 4 120 point teams since 2000. 3 were bounced in the first round, the fourth lost in the 2nd round.

05/06 Red Wings...Lost to Edmonton in the first round
9/10 Capitals...Lost to Montreal in the first round
15/16 Capitals...Beat Philly in the first round, lost in the 2nd round to Pittsburgh
18/19 Lightning...Swept by CBJ

Also, the Panthers only have 41 regulation wins (which would be 4th in the East). They have 16 in 3x3 or shootout.

Key for me is getting in on their D quickly...they transition so well and are so explosive that the cause a lot of trouble in transition and once they're in the OZ (although their high volume shoot and retrieve OZ tactics feel like they may struggle v. Boston's layered D...I don't know). But their D feel very susceptible to a good FC.

From what I've read they tend to use a zone in their DZ which (as we've seen with Boston) can make them more vulnerable to switches high in the zone (and they're not as good defensively as us).

Given their (IMO) unproven playoff caliber defending (including goalies) FLA doesn't seem as scary as maybe they should.

Florida's special teams aren't all that good either. They are 17th in xGF/60 on the PP and 15th in xGA/60 on the PK. The power play surprised me given their offensive prowess at 5x5, being the top xGF/60 offense in the league.

They also fall behind a lot and comeback which is a good trait to have but it gets a lot harder to do it consistently in the playoffs.

Not saying they'd be an easy out, but I also wouldn't be surprised if they were tripped up early.

The 16 3x3 wins is crazy. Speaks to how many skilled offensive players they have but, as others have noted, also takes some of the shine off of the raw point total.

When you have 120+ points, the points percentage in a h situation is going to be pretty high. It’s not rocket science.

The Bruins generated 10 high-danger chances that period, LOL. If tonight's play is representative of them, the Panthers are going to get carved up in the playoffs.
