Whenever Morosi/Rosenthal come in with a tweet like this, it's usually just a matter of time.

I'm not sure Ramsey is the equivalent of the #30 pick in next year's draft.  He projects as a fourth OF.  In any event, it's not clearly better than the pick.

Is it worth considering that the Indians weren't going to issue Masterson the QO (~$15M) due to his struggles this year and therefore were not going to receive a pick?

I haven't read any rumors on Jonny Gomes this week. He should not still be on this roster taking at bats away from Mookie in August and September.
Only thing that's been mentioned, as far as I can tell, is that the Royals are moving on. It's weird, he's still a useful player.

There was a mention on Twitter that the Royals had had some interest, but decided he wasn't a good enough RF.  This is the Royals team that played Raul Ibanez in RF this year.

FWIW, Hammel continues to stink for the A's -- he's struggling to make it out of the 1st inning against the Astros today.  Beane's level of urgency re: another starter should be rising.

Why would the Marlins sell their closer if they are trading for a starter to make a post-season run?
Yelich is an OF. Cishek is their closer

Go sit in the corner with the ones who thought the Sox were getting Polanco or Tavares
If you're looking at it as a Lackey Yelich swap, yeah....

I think it's entirely conceivable if you attach Middlebrooks and some other moving pieces.

I was responding to a point about Lester.  Ramsey is fair value for Masterson.

They're selling Cishek?  According to whom?

For what it's worth, there were rumors last week that they'd consider dealing Cishek.  It made no sense at the time and still doesn't.

All about saving money. Marlins don't think it's worth paying him over $4 million next season.

EDIT: Well that, and what they could get back. I think he has 2-3 season of team control left.

I for one am very excited that we're going to get Stanton for John Lackey. I'd even throw in Stephen Drew if that helps get it done.

You make fun, but the one thing that would reduce my anger about Lester is if they could somehow get Stanton for Lackey and a combo or prospects.

In what world would the Marlins want John lackey for next season, but not Giancarlo Stanton?
The only reason I can convince myself that this world exists is Jeffrey Loria.

I do make fun, yes. And if the Marlins decided they wanted to trade for a good starting pitcher while dealing their young, dynamic power-hitter, and did so by taking John Lackey and a bunch of our top rated prospects, I would make fun of them even more than that.

Settle down.  I didn't say I think it will happen or even could happen.  I said it would make me happy.

Funny because I can see the Marlins being very interested in a heavily subsidized Drew as would the Pirates.

Edit - this in no way implies I think Stanton is coming back.

Lackey will make league minimum.  LORIA LOVES LEAGUE MINIMUM.

Ortiz out of the lineup tonight.

I think he tweaked his knee on a swinging K last night. I imagine with the season functionally over, he'll be seeing some rest.

Hilarious.  What plan is that, John?  The one that drove the team straight into the ALE cellar?  Give me a break.

Really? Because I was under this wild impression that it was the team on field crapping the bed that drove them to the bottom of the standings.

1. What's he supposed to say? "We're a ship without a rudder! Launch the lifeboats!"
2. Having a shitty year does not mean the team should completely abandon their plan and start from scratch. Suggesting they are without a viable plan is a bit ridiculous.
