Whatever the case may be...PC Drunken Friar said:I had to turn it off today. They really need to stop Wallach from taking up so much air time. Its not just how many times he talks, but he will talk about something for 1:00-1:30..thats an eternity on the radio. And he speaks in the most descriptive way possible (if that makes sense) for things that dont need to be descriptive because they are so obvious.

Red(s)HawksFan said:There were stories for years that when he was an EEI flash boy, Wallach and Dale Arnold didn't get along and Dale more or less forbade Wallach piping in during the show. It was fairly obvious that something was up because Meterparel and Sheppard were regular contributors to their respective shows in addition to being the flash guys but we never heard Wallach (beyond the flashes) unless one of the hosts (usually Dale) was out.
Now it is crystal clear why Dale did what he did.

I know this is off topic, but I love the fact that Dale Arnold stands on a box during Bruins telecasts.

FelixMantilla said:No Fred this morning while I was listening. Of course I didn't listen for long once I heard Wallach's voice.
He's ruining the show for me. I've listened to this show religiously since its first day on BCN. Now it's an automatic shut off any time Fred isn't there.BrotherMouzone said:
Twice this morning I've heard Wallach say a variation of "like I said earlier this morning." I listened for maybe 5 minutes. He's the worst.
Why, that was a pretty funny part of the show.FelixMantilla said:No Fred again today.
Clicked right after they started talking about Gary Tanguay.
Pretty much agree with all of that, but the Scalabrine interview made it all worthwhile - "enough with the bromance!" "Love ya' Scal!"allstonite said:Wallach today "Nobody is talking about it but the Dodgers haven't used Beckett in their recruiting of John Lester. They're keeping him away from everything."
1) The Dodgers don't seem to be that interested in signing Lester. I know their name is there but they don't seem to have much of a chance.
2) As Fred and Rich both shouted as soon as he said it "HE RETIRED!" Why would he recruit free agents for the Dodgers? If they asked he should tell them to go screw. And why would they ask? He has no history with the club. He pitched there for 2.5 mediocre seasons.
3) Assuming for some reason that he would recruit for LA, why would they keep him away form Lester? Wouldn't they want Beckett recruiting Lester? Weren't they close when they were on the Sox?
This was just so spectacularly stupid I had to point it out. He's supposed to be the "sports" guy and "stats" guy on this show but I trust Fred with both of those far more than him. Which means he is completely useless except as a punching bag for Fred and Rich but that has lessened as the show has gone on.
He sounds like he went to the same WEEI University as Felger where he has to take the negative hotsportztakez on everything except he's not smart enough to make it entertaining or thought provoking like Felger can at least some of the time. He might have been successful in this town pre-'01 or even '04 when we were all dumber and had reasons to consistently bash ownership, but these days he just represents the worst of "the fellowship of the miserable."

From what I heard, Fred was a total asshole here. He basically said that it was an insane deal and horrible because the Cubs won't, no way, no how, it iwll be impossible for them to win next year, so why do it?
Wallach sucked as usual, but tried to explain that they have some good, young bats, but no pitching, so this will help. Fred basically said the Cubs shouldn't even try for the next couple years. really weird and there was no getting through to him
Buffalo Head said:Mazz will be the same way this afternoon. His whole shtick is "If he goes to the Cubs, I'll be pissed!" because he thinks the Cubs are garbage. It's like these guys have no clue who Baez, Soler, Rizzo and Alcantara are, not to mention Bryant, Russell and Olt. The Cubs are going to be really good, really soon.
I agree with this, but it's part of the job and he whines about the shitty parts of his awesome job enough. He complains about not getting calls but it usually takes an event like this to get calls that early in the morning.Dummy Hoy said:Except Fred has never really been one to create false narratives or try to rile people up. I bet he's genuinely annoyed at dealing with Red Sox fans right now, and who can blame him? The reaction to Lester leaving has been pretty predictable from most people.

You may be onto something. I just listened to the opening, and he poo pooed Rizzo as if he's a chump. Awful radio.jimv said:Perhaps Fred's status as a Cardinals fan colors his view of the Cubs.
